Chapter:04:I Don't Know You !

Chloe woke up from bed with a splitting headache, she held her head with both palms whining in pain. Then slowly she opened her eyes wide.

Her eyes rotated in different directions of the room, then a glimmer of the event of the night before flashed across her eyes, and realization came crashing down on her.

“Someone ! so som someone! 

“How did I get here? how ho how diii did I? 

She stuttered trying to gather herself, looking around the room, it dawned on her that she was in an unfamiliar room.

Looking down at herself, she was almost naked with only a duvet covering her body. 

She grabbed hold of the duvet to leave for the bathroom, then her gaze fell on the man sleeping heavily beside her on the bed.

Flabbergasted by the sight before her, Chloe put a palm over her mouth to stop her from screaming out due to shock.

No, this can't be! 

This is not possible!

This can't be possible! I didn't come here last night, then how did I get here? 

While she was still shaking her head vigorously in denial, the man beside her woke up, he sat up on the bed and had a broad smirk on his face, upon seeing her.

How earth could he think of smiling in a situation like this?

“What am I doing here? 

“Who are you, and why did you bring me here?

Chloe asked, getting disgusted by the lustful gaze in his eyes. She clung to the duvet tightly and made to stand up, then the man spoke.

“You don't remember what we did last night? , oh! I get it now! you must have had temporary amnesia after the night!

The man said with a scornful grin on his face, the man's breath was full of alcohol.

He must have had a lot  to drink

The smell from his body made a nauseous feeling rise in Chloe's body. 

She felt like poking right there.

“What the hell are you talking about? 

“I don't even know you, I have never seen you before!

“I'm talking about this! , I think you need me to remind you how you were screaming my name all through the night!” 

After saying that, he crawled towards her, then grabbed hold of the duvet, he was about to toss it down, when suddenly the door swung open.

They both turned their gazes towards the entrance, a shocked expression appeared on Chloe's face.

Groups of reporters swarmed into the room, with the cameramen taking several pictures of her. 

She quickly hurls away his grip from the duvet and tightened it around her body.

Chloe tried to hide her face from the camera with the help of the duvet, upon seeing her sneaky action, the man held her wrist tightly, preventing her from carrying on with her thoughts.

“Are you claiming not to know me, after the passionate night we just had? you were screaming out my name all the through, and now you are denying me?

“You even admitted that I was the best, and now you are denying my existence? 

“How can you be such a shameless person? you even told me that you wanted to continue having an affair with me after you got married tomorrow! ”

The man said as loudly as he could, he wanted the camera to get a proper grip of what he said.

Seeing the defenseless state that Chloe was in, he wanted to forge ahead with his calamitous accusations, but Chloe spoke up first.

“Why are you doing? , I don't even know you, then are you lying about us!?

“Stop trying to frame me! 

“I didn't tell you all of those, just stop lying already!

Chloe screamed at the man, and they focused their camera lenses on her, capturing her every movement.

“I can't tell lies about such, you came to me last night all on your own, leaving your birthday party. You wanted to spend the night with me because you get married!”

When he said, Chloe could no longer hold back her tears. 

Her eyes were already puffy from embarrassment.

With one swift movement, she ran into the bathroom, slamming the door close. 

She leaned against the wall of the bathroom for a long time, listening to all the chaotic questions being popped by the reporters.  

“Miss Crowther, your marriage is in two days and you did such a shameful thing! how would you like to explain to the people ?” 

“Your father is such a respected man in the city, how do you expect him to feel about your dirty deeds?

“Is it true that you intend to elope with this man on your wedding day?” 

“I can't believe a girl from a noble family like yours would stoop so low! ”

“After this!, do you think the Remas would still accept a girl of low character like yourself as their daughter-in-law?

“You need to give us an answer Miss Crowther ” 

“You can't continue hiding behind the shadows of your nobility, whereas your actions are despicable” 

The reporters howling insults at her, she could hear them through the holes of the luxurious bathroom.

She quickly wore her clothes, luckily she was still in her underwear. She skims the dress through her legs.

After peeping through the door hole, she saw the reports taking the man's statement.

Without wasting any more time, she lunges out of the bathroom with one swift movement, she unlocked.

Click! 

The door opened, the sound of the door opening attracted the attention of the reporters, and they turn their gazes towards the source of the noise.

Upon seeing her trying to get away from them, they ran after her with all their might and the camera trail after them. 

The man fell heavily on the bed with a devilish scowl on his face, he stretched his hands, then he pouted his mouth and let out loud mocking laughter, which echoes throughout the room. 

“Now the job is done, it's to make merry!!

Chloe was almost breathless by the time she was able to stave off from the presence of the lousy reporters chasing after her. 

She was patting with her palm on her chest.

Her eyes were swollen from unshed tears, her mind is being damaged from too much thinking.

It's not possible that she went to the man all on her own!

She doesn't even know him at all, then how come he knows so much about her? 

Someone is trying to frame me, but who would think of doing such a thing to me?

Hopefully, Gabriel will trust me with this!

Wait!

Talking of Gabriel Remas!!!

Then, the image of Gabriel and Maddie enmesh in bed last night glint across her eyes, then she was determined to go home to her father and exposed their dirty little secret.

But first, she needs to find a way out of here.

She can't go by car since she left her keys back there, or it must have gotten misplaced last night when someone attacked her from behind. 

She peeks at the surrounding area when she noticed that the reporters were gone, she sneaked out of her hiding place and left with a large stride

   “Javier!

“ Javier!, come and see what your dear daughter has gone and now!"

Matilda yelled with a loud tone, standing in front of the television with the tv remote in her hand. 

Her hoot attracted the attention of the maids, including the nanny, aunt Jodie, and Claire. Other cane running instantly, while Crowther climbed down the stair slowly. 

“What is going on with you Matilda? It's just 7: am and you are already yelling at the top of your voice so early!

“Look, Javier! , look at what your shameless daughter has done ”

 Maria's said pointing her index finger toward the image being displayed on the television screen.

“She has gone and tarnished our reputation of many years to the entire city. She is supposed to be getting married tomorrow, but look at what she did!” 

Mr. Crowther was shocked after seeing the content of the news being aired on the screen, his face turned pale immediately, but he kept his cool.

While they were gazing at the screen, Maddie came into the living room, rubbing sleep off her eyes and yawning broadly.

She pretended not to know the reason behind the clangor going on in the house. 

“Mom? Dad? mom Why are you screaming? I could barely sleep due to how loud your voice was! 

“I could hear your voice right from my bed! 

 Maddie asked gazing at their faces, but no one gave her an answer.

“What is going on? will someone tell me what is going on, please,? 

She said with a tone full of fear and concern. 

Matild swiveled around sharply, then she grabs hold of her hand and led her close to the television.

“look at this Maddie !”

She howls loudly, then Maddie pretended to trail her gaze along with her finger then her face fell on the screen.

“While you were busy sleeping at home, your dearest sister Chloe was out there, getting herself involved in a shameful act with another man” 

Matilda said with a  mockery tone, exaggerating each word.

“She has ruined our reputation like it's nothing !”

“I wonder how we will be able to convince the investors to invest in our company after this. how are we supposed to explain things to them!?”

“How could Chloe think of doing things like this on a day before her wedding? , she doesn't care about herself, but she should have at least thought about Dad, he needs this contract badly, but!! ” 

Maddie said, trying to provoke Mr. Crowther to react. 

He was still lost in his daze while the two women lament beside him. 

“Maybe, this is might be a misunderstanding. We should at least listen to what Chloe had to say about these buzzes first” 

Nanny said, upon seeing the sneaky way both mother and daughter were trying to convince the master to buy their claims.

Upon hearing the nanny defending Chloe Matilda flared up angrily.

She walked close to her, with a danger-shooting eye.

“Really nanny? , does this look like a misunderstanding to you? , come on tell me! , how will you explain to the people that is just a misunderstanding, huh!? 

“We can all see that's Chloe over there! 

“I'm sorry dad, I didn't know that Chloe was going to do a thing like that, I should gave stopped her when  I saw her dashing out of the house last night in a big hurry” 

“I thought she was capable of taking care of herself and upholding our family's honor, I didn't think she would do a thing like that ”

“I can't believe Chloe would be capable of having an affair with a hooligan, I wonder what everyone would think about us now!?

“What will everyone say about us now?

Maddie said with a one full of mediocrity, she was trying to play the good sister, while indirectly infuriating Mr. Crowther.

  

Mr. Crowther still didn't say anything, despite all their clamoring. His silence and lack of reactions made them well up with anger but covered it up with a sham show of concern. 

“Where on earth could that shameless girl be? She is still not satisfied with what she has done to our family. She wants to go ahead with her evil plans to ruin us”

“if she didn't want to get married to Gabriel Remas, she should have said so and not all of this!

“Javier, I have told you so many times that your daughter is not who she pretends to be, but you won't hear a word against her, now see the outcome of her silliness!” 

Matilda said, switching the television off angrily, then she turned her gaze at him, hoping he would say something, but he was expressionless, which causes her heart to clutch with unbearable pain.

“Madam, I think we should wait for Chloe to return before we make any conclusions about this, this might not be the truth !” 

Nanny said, clutching her hand around Claire's hold. 

Upon hearing what she said, Matilda shoots her dangerous stare and the nanny quickly shuts her mouth, knowing how cruel matilda can be most time. 

Even with that, the nanny was ready to endure her cruelty, but she won't permit her to speak ill of Chloe. 

While her gaze was still fixed on the nanny, the back door suddenly cracks open, and their eyes discern the direction of the sound. 

Seeing Chloe standing there, looking shabby and pale. Matilda and Maddie gave each other a sneaky smile. 

“Oh! You are finally here?
