Chapter 83

My father prepared himself and was ready to see the Alpha King at the crack of dawn the next day. I came out with my nightwear, having just been woken up by the sound of him issuing orders to the enforcers. He was dressed in his uniform and it made a clear statement.

As I looked at him, I felt uneasy. I did not want my father to do anything dangerous because of me. In the past, he got his head chopped off for defending me. I would not forgive myself if I cost him his life a second time.

“Are you leaving now?” I asked a question with an obvious answer since I was overwhelmed and did not know what to say.

“Yes.” His face was set with hard lines. “You do not have anything to fear. I have given the enforcers orders so you cannot leave the house without them.”

“I had not planned on going anywhere today,” I responded.

The air wafting off him was chilly, freezing. I felt I was a child again, watching my father from far off, wondering what kind of a man he was. He was closed off, his outfit
