Chapter 89

KOA’S POV

I had a dream. In that dream, Persephone was telling me how much she liked me, how much my smile brightened her day and how much she wanted to kiss me. The expression on her face was so soft, I knew I must be dreaming. There was no way she could make such a tender expression. Not to my surprise, I opened my eyes.

Everything hurt, from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet. I gritted my teeth to bite down on the pain but it did not help much.

I knew when my father sent me to a place where I had never heard of that something was wrong but I had not expected to be ambushed before I even arrived. He had set me up against a battalion of warriors and I came out the victor but I had not expected to even make it out alive. All I knew as I snapped their necks was that I could not die without a fight.

There was nothing but blood in my eyes as I passed out and when I opened my eyes again, I was in Alpha Adelard’s mansion.
