“This isn't the first time I've done something like this.” As I confessed about the fresh and faded bruises on my arms, I spoke in hushed tones. When I look up, I notice Logan has a scowl on his forehead. He was sitting on the single sofa chair in front of me, and I was sitting on the edge of my bed, legs crossed.

There was a brief silence around us, and the only sound I could hear was my own heavy breathing. I lower my gaze, unable to make eye contact with Logan. Before proceeding, I counted to ten.

“I've hurt myself before when the pain was unbearable for me. This is the fifth time I've done it...Or so I believe,” I said, trying to recall how many times I had done it.

“You mentioned that your parents were murdered; is that the reason for your self-harm?” Logan inquired, his face flushed with confusion.

“Seems like I have to start from the beginning,” I said, letting out a shaky, humorless laugh. I clenched my bottom lip as I braced myself for anothe

As I sit nervously in the backseat of the expensive Maserati Levante, I notice the busy streets of New York. I awoke alone in bed this morning, with the events of the day before still fresh in my mind. I expected to wake up with Logan's warm hands wrapped around me like a cocoon, but I was disappointed when I didn't find him in the apartment. But, much to my surprise, he texted me around eight o'clock, asking me to come to his office within an hour to discuss something important with him. Seeing that message reminded me of something I'd seen before, and now I'm on my way to his office. I bit my lower lip in nervousness as William dropped me in front of Logan's office. I scan my surroundings, and it was just as busy as I remembered, with people hurrying to get to work. The last time I came here, things didn't go so well, but given how Logan texted me with his infamous endearment 'love,' I'm hoping this time won't be the same. I walk towards the reception area after en

I paid the driver and dashed into my apartment, slamming the door shut behind me. I could tell my eyes were red and puffy from attempting not to break down in the uber. I tried hard to hold back the tears, but they wouldn't stop. I felt betrayed and heartbroken and I had no control over my emotions. How could Logan ever do this to me? I trusted him with everything, but all he did the entire time was work behind my back. I sat on the couch, sobbing loudly as more tears streamed down my cheeks. I brought my knees to my chest and sobbed uncontrollably. As the seconds ticked away, betrayal, fear, and every other emotion tore me apart. I thought Logan had feelings for me, but he was only pretending to get me to fall into my enemy's trap. This was why he was acting so mysteriously earlier today. He didn't want me to accompany him because he was afraid I would discover his true intentions with me. That he'd hand me over to them soon. To those who mercilessly murdered my paren

If you ask me which is the most boring subject I've ever studied, I'd say Economics without hesitation. Right now, I'm doing everything I can to keep my eyes open. Looking around the room, I notice that some students in the last row are either asleep or on their phones. Some are trying to stay awake, like me, and a few are completely engrossed in the subject, which is admirable. Mrs. Franks isn't concerned with how many students are listening to her lecture; she's only concerned with how many are in the class. I tolerated this class because I needed to be there. I suppose that is the only reason why so many students are present here. It's even more boring because Scar and Tyler don't have the same schedule as me today. So I'll just have to sit here for an hour and a half, brooding. If I had the choice between economics and accounting, I would take the accounting in a heartbeat. It's not my favorite subject, but I don't have a choice because I'm majoring in Business Studies.

When they noticed us standing two feet away from the table, both men stood up. My gaze was drawn to the familiar ocean blue eyes that had never failed to captivate me. I gulped silently as I noticed he hadn't blinked since he locked his gaze on me. Logan Watson was dressed in a black notch lapel blazer suit with a plain black shirt underneath and tight-fitted black trousers. My gaze returned to him, and I noticed a different emotion swirling in his eyes that I had only seen a couple of times before, but I had never been able to put a finger on it. The emotion was so intense that I had to avert my gaze if I didn't want to crumble to my feet right here. I'd forgotten how much I'd missed seeing those eyes in the last few days. Scarlet nudged me to bring me back to reality and drew me to the table. “Hey, baby girl,” Patrick was on his feet in a flash, approaching Scar. When Patrick took Scar's hand and kissed it while looking at her lovingly, I stood there awkwa

“Heads up!” Logan exclaimed at me before I noticed a piece of cake charging at me. Even though it only took two seconds, it felt like it took a minute as if it was happening in slow motion, but my reflex wasn't working as I stood frozen on the ground with my eyes widened. SPLASH! The creamy substance landed on my forehead before slid down my face and onto the floor. Logan's loud laughter filled the entire kitchen, and I closed my eyes, gritting my teeth in rage. I wiped the frost from my eyes and looked at Watson, who was hunched over and laughing his head off. I took advantage of the situation by taking an egg from the carton and walking two steps up to him before cracking it into his hair. The tables have now been turned. While Logan was glaring at me, I was laughing at him as the slimy egg fell from his head down onto the side of his face. However, I noticed his surprised expression changing into a well-known mischievous one. When I noticed him looking at the bowl of flou

(One month later) Looking out the window of this luxurious car, I have a beautiful view of snow-covered trees and pathways. Few people were out on the avenue, warming themselves with heavy sweaters and jackets, while children in the open park attempted to build snowmen or hit each other with snowballs. I rubbed my icy hands together as I turned the heater up a notch. I sigh and take in the beautiful scenery and the atmosphere that winter creates. The winter season is my absolute favorite. Being inside, slumped on the couch in thick sweaters, a hot steaming cup of coffee nearby, and a really good book in your hand to read. There is nothing more appropriate to ask. That’s how I always used to spend most of my winter days, especially if I don’t have any work to do. But this time, a certain blue-eyed devil named Logan Watson decided to throw a wrench in my plans. I glared at him with all the venom I could muster. He gives me an ‘oh

"Hey, Karrie. I'm hoping everything is in order for tonight." Scarlet's cheerful voice could be heard on the other end of the phone line. I let out a sigh and slid onto the bed. My mind still was playing tricks on me. At one point, I was confident that our plan would succeed and that I would be able to obtain as much information about my parents' murder from Olivier as possible. But right now, I'm not sure I'm confident enough to proceed with this plan. "I'm not sure," I mumbled, my voice strained. "What exactly do you mean by 'you don't know?'" Scarlet inquired. From the other side, I could hear her rummaging through something. I guess she's preparing for the ball, whereas I'm still in dilemma. Before opening my eyes, I took a shaky breath and clenched my fists. "Scar, I'm not sure if I'm up to it. What if our plan fails? I can't put your and Tyler's lives in jeopardy because of me." As my vision became blurry, I said. I held my breath for a moment as the ot

Didn't he notice I was about to take it? For God's sake, it's spiked, and I don't want anyone else to drink it except Olivier. I moved closer to him, ready to argue with him about the glass, but I stopped dead in my tracks when I overheard their conversation. “What kind of ending is that?” Grecia whined disappointedly, sitting next to me. I chuckled at her cute pout.“I know right. Why couldn’t they end it without him dying?” Daniella complained a scowl etched on her lips as well. I shrugged my shoulders because I didn’t know the answer to that either. “Or they could have just shown from the beginning itself that he was just her imagination,” Grecia spoke out her suggestion.“Her hallucinations of him are what made her survive and go forward amidst the difficulties. Like that gave her the need to escape.” I explained.“But still, it’s so sad. I regret watching this now. My whole mood is deflated.” Grecia said and Daniella agreed with nodding. Is there any legal punishment given by the Jury for poking someone’s eye out with a sharp-pointed nail or for cutting off someone’s private parts? If it’s there then it will probably be under misdemeanor, right? Huffing loudly with a scowl on my face, I tiredly scan the set of my clothes hanging inside Logan’s closet. The sound of a door closing alerted my ears and my eyes brightened up a little when I realized Logan entered the washroom to take a shower. Quickly dropping the towel I had in my hand onto the floor, I rushed out of the closet and quickly plunged under the blanket and welcomed the sleep once again with a happy smile on my face. The room is still dark, the sun not up yet. It’s normal for Logan to wake up at this unholy hour of the day, at 5 am, and even before that. I usually don’t mind missing his warmth beside me but I do mind when I’m forced to wake up too. Logan did say he will be training me for self-defense and to fight, but I should’ve expected this training to

I gaze at the beautiful snowflakes falling from the night sky while hugging myself tightly with the blanket for some warmth. I was standing on the balcony to get some fresh air. The whole house has quieted down and I presume all went to sleep by now since it’s around midnight. Sleep is long forgotten for me and Logan since there are a lot of things to talk about between us now. Logan is currently taking a shower and that's when I stepped out of the room. I’m expecting a serious talk to take place once he’s done with his shower and this is a way I found to calm myself down and prepare for everything.I heard the opening sound of the sliding doors and knew that Logan had come in. I remained in the same position and soon felt the familiar warmth of him behind me. His two strong arms wrapped around my blanket-covered body and rested his chin on top of my head.“How long have you been standing here?” He asked, rubbing my sides even though I was well covered.“Since you went for the shower,

I woke up with a grunt when I heard my phone blaring the alarm sound. I poke my head out of my blanket and reach towards my phone with my right hand without opening my eyes. Even though the sunlight wasn’t directly hitting my eyes, I could feel the whole room lit with it. As soon as I got my phone I opened my eyes and stopped the alarm at once. The time read 10:00 in the morning and I didn’t have to look at the other side of the bed to know that Logan had already left. Of course, he will have some important meetings at the unholy hours of 6 or 7 in the morning. I released a heavy sigh before getting up from my bed and deciding to go get ready for my day.I look myself in the mirror and find the frown that has been sitting on my face for the past couple of days. Logan's POV: Being the CEO of a powerful company and once being a part of illegal businesses, I have heard different stories of how people take revenge on others. Some even go to an extent by harming innocent lives to satisfy their hunger for revenge. Lia's case is similar to this. Her whole family was a victim and she suffered the most and is still suffering. I need to bring an end to this whole drama. An end to my girl's misery. They even had the audacity to play against my family. Play against me.My hands stuffed in my pockets, I tapped my feet impatiently waiting for this damn elevator to reach the basement of my office which is a parking lot as well. Finally, the elevator door pinged open and I nodded my head at the security guard before walking ahead. After several turns, I stopped in front of the grey metal door. Two of my guards were standing next to the door as well. One of them opened the door for me and I nod my head in gratitude before walking down the dark hall, my foot

He laughed humorlessly"Oh Lia," he chuckled darkly, running his hand through his hair "Stop with this innocent act."I stood up from the bed and crossed my arms over my chest. "No, you stop beating around the bush," I said, getting angry as well."Is there something you want to tell me?" He asked, stepping closer to me."Uhm...N-No," I gulped slowly as I answered."You stuttered" I racked my brain trying to think of some excuse."That's because your proximity is affecting me." I lied, happy with my excuse. I pushed him away, trying to put some space between us."Why is it so hot here?" I said fanning myself with my hand and looking around anywhere but him. Third POV: “What would you like to drink?” Olivier asked Karolia, trying to put her at ease. They were seated in a restaurant opposite Radio City Music Hall and the place is packed with people. To anyone else, she looked fine as if she’s comfortable in Olivier’s presence. But he knew well. Behind her tough mask, there is fear. Fear of what this man is capable of doing. He’s still seeing daylight even after killing who knows how many lives, innocent or not. “I didn't come here to have a drink and chat with you Oliver, and you know that,” she said with her voice low. Olivier smirked. He likes the fact that he’s able to instill fear in people’s minds. That he can become people’s nightmare. But only one person isn’t afraid of him. Logan Watson. It’s the other way around. With one swift punch, Logan can knock out even a hefty man. Oliver has to admit, Karolia is one lucky girl that she met Logan out of thousands of people living in New York. I watched the New York traffic through the window wall as I waited for Scarlet in the newly opened café. Lost in the beauty, I didn’t notice Scarlet entering the café until she plopped down on the opposite seat of my table. “Hey wassup!” She greeted, looking cheery as ever. “Hey” I greeted her. We leaned forward and hugged each other which was a bit hard due to the table separating us. "You look ravishing girl" I complimented. Her long hair was curled and left open and a slight natural blush was coating her cheeks. She was glowing. Scarlet gave a cute smile before taking my hands in hers. "I've something to tell you…more like give you," she said. I nod my head encouraging her to continue. “But I don’t know if this is the right time as Grecia is in the hospital.” she bit her lip.
