Trying to become a third party

Emerald was so distracted all day, it was a miracle she could even get any work done. She had just gotten ready to get off work for the week when her phone rang. It was a number she had never seen before. She picked it up and a familiar voice rang from the other end.

“Come down, I am waiting for you,” she heard Matthew order. His voice seemed colder than she recalled. She swallowed at his words and adjusted her mind.

She must not argue. Even though he had said he would not kill her, this was a dangerous man. No, could he even be called a man? He was a dangerous being. If she made a mistake, she would get killed.

“At the basement parking lot?” she asked tentatively.

“Yes,” he answered and she packed her things and went down. When she arrived at the basement, she was confused and could not find his car. Just when she was beginning to get frustrated, she heard a car horn go off and she looked in that direction.
