I was about to break when the sound of heels interrupted us and a squeaky voice was heard in the background.

"You damned wretch! You've always been here," a woman said, causing me to slam my eyes open.

I centered myself so I wouldn't turn around and he let go of me. which I didn't know how to interpret.

"It's all right, Giulia," she replied subtly, still looking at me.

"I've been trying to locate you from the gala." I got a rumor that you went off with a beautiful woman and I couldn't witness that," he said in an amused tone. “Can you explain to me what's going on?”

I just laughed at the situation.

Most likely, she was a jealous and multimillionaire girlfriend, I must have assumed that a man with the economic status of a Basciano-Moretti could be engaged to someone just as important, perhaps to a girl from the big families of old money or politicians.

"Is it Emma?" The woman asked.

"Yes, it's her," Luc replied suspiciously.
