20_ Sister's call

"Derrick!" Lady Loretta scolded her son, shouting back at him. The way he raised his voice towards Miranda also shocked her.

"Mom, I am sorry, but why care about the maid? She woke up late, and yet she's still delaying your breakfast. Don't you see how tardy she looked? She should be fired and sent away from here," Derrick said, as his deep blue eyes fell on Miranda.

Miranda was scared when she met Derrick's gaze, which looked so deadly, like he wanted to personally discipline her for daring to have his mother starve again when she knew that his mother enjoyed her services.

"I.. I am sorry, sir. I will go and serve mother's breakfast now." Miranda quickly bolted away from them, and Alex was also silent. Alex didn't think too much about Derrick's reaction, as he knew Derrick was a very principled person who didn't tolerate nonsense or laziness.
