Avelina smiled as her fingers played with the tips of her wine glass. In a few days, she would be getting engaged to the love of her life. Currently, they were on vacation in Europe's most glamorous hotel. These few days have been really stressful, so this was really a way for her to take a deep breath and relax.
"Ma’am, here is your cocktail." The bartender cleared his throat, and Avelina turned to look at him.
"Thank you." She smiled as she took the cocktail from him, and she slowly sipped from the straw, smiling even more widely at how tasty it was.
Within the same club, a bit further from the bar where Avelina was seated, a young man who looked the age of twenty-six, clad in black pants and a black shirt with a few of its buttons open, sat with his legs crossed. His black curly hair, which complimented his emerald eyes, fell to his shoulders, directing your attention to his muscular body. He had tattoos that looked to start from his waist and stopped at his neck.
"Hello, sir. Here is your drink." A waiter delivered his cocktail to him, and he took it, his face expressionless. He casually drank it all, and it didn’t take even ten minutes before he started feeling a bit lightheaded.
His slightly long lashes fluttered, and he quickly shook his head to shake away the dizziness that he was suddenly feeling.
"What’s going on?" He pinched his brows together in confusion. Feeling that it was becoming worse, he glanced at the glass cup, immediately realizing that the drink had been messed with.
"Shit!" he cursed, realizing how badly he had let his guard down. He carefully pulled himself up from the couch and shook his head yet again. His eyes slowly became blurry, and hurriedly, he began to stagger to his room on the second floor of the hotel.
He managed to make his way to the elevator, and once it took him up to the second floor, he stepped out, his head feeling like it would explode.
"Shit! Shit!" he cursed even more, and once he managed to make it to his door, he swiped his keycard and unlocked the door. He stepped in and almost fell to the floor while trying to close the door.
"Argggg! What exactly was in that drink?" he questioned to himself, knowing full well that whatever was in it was definitely very strong for it to be able to intoxicate a werewolf shifter like him. He unbuttoned his shirt and threw it on the floor, leaving his entire upper body bare.
He sank into the bed and groaned as he felt his head, ache severely.

"I don’t feel so good." Avelina, who seemed to be in the same situation, complained, and the bartender turned to look at her.
"Are you okay, ma’am?" he inquired, and she nodded her head, not wanting to create an attraction. She stood up from the stool and proceeded to make her way toward the elevator, but she found it very hard to walk.
"Ma'am," The bartender rushed out from behind the bar and caught her, keeping her from falling. "Perhaps I should take you to your room," he suggested.
Avelina shook her head at him. "No..I-its fine." She snatched her arm from him and proceeded to walk off on her own, but as drugged as she was, she ended up falling flat on her face. The bartender hurried up to her again and pulled her up from the ground.
"Let me take you to your room," he said to her, and before Avelina could say anything, he scooped her up into a bridal style and started walking towards the elevator.
"Y-You don't really have to do this...I can walk on my own," she said to him, but he ignored her and stepped out as soon as the elevator door was pushed open. He proceeded toward room 266 and halted in front of it. He pushed open the door and set her down on her feet.
"We are here. You can go in now," he spoke with a smile on his face.
"Thank you." Avelina nodded and stepped into the room. She slammed the door shut and staggered toward the bed.
"So hot!" she groaned, feeling very hot, and quickly took her pants off. She took her shirt off as well, leaving her only in her underwear. She climbed onto the bed and snuggled under the blanket, a deep breath of relief exiting her nose.
"Selena..." The deep voice of the man, who seemed to be the man from earlier, called, having noticed someone climb onto the bed.
"Who is Selena? Babe, you are not mistaking me... for someone else again, are you?" Avelina asked, and the young man slowly turned to lie on his back.
"I feel...so hot!" he grumbled, and Avelina nodded her head in concur.
"I feel really hot too." She sighed with her eyes shut due to the dizziness, and the young man turned to look at her with his blurry eyes.
"Come closer," he said to her, and Avelina snuggled up into his arms. He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly.
"You smell a bit different today." He inhaled her scent, and Avelina chuckled softly.
"Mhm. Your voice sounds so deep.” She slowly nodded her head, with her lips curling up into an exhausted smile.
The young man caressed her face and gently kissed her jaw.
He moved from there to her lips, and before they knew it, they were passionately intertwined. Neither of them realized it wasn’t their significant other in that bed.
The bright early morning sun shone throughthe window, and Avelina rubbed her sleepy eyes. "Ahhh. My head hurts," she groaned and slowly blinked her eyes open. Shestretched her body as she yawned and turned her head to look at the window. "Gosh,I am so tired!" She rubbed her forehead and shifted her gaze to her side. "Honey,"she called, thinking it was her fiancé, but a slight frown appeared on her facewhen she saw the long, silky curly black hair scattered on the bed. Since whendid her fiancé have such long hair? "H-honey…"she stuttered, knowing that her fiancée had never had such long hair. Her heartbegan to thump heavily within her, and she slowly reached out her hand to brushthe hair back to see the face of the person lying beside her. Hereyes widened the instant she viewed the face, and out of shock, she screamed, causing her to hurriedly back away almost falling off the bed. She breathedheavily and watched as the man slowly blinked his eyes
Avelina returned to the family mansion asfast as humanly possible, and the moment she stepped into the living room, her gazefell on the entire family. This included her father, Mr. Ferguson, his firstwife, Lady Flora, her half-sister, Rosalia, her half-brother, Lucas, andfinally her ill mother, Irene, who was the second wife, all seated in theliving room, waiting for her.Dothey all already know? But so quickly? She thoughtto herself and fiddled with her fingers as she proceeded further into theliving room. She stood in front of them, and her mother, Irene, who lookedquite disappointed, stared at her with pain in her eyes. "Moth-" "Youdo know that for your disgraceful action, punishment comes." Mr.Ferguson’s angry voice resounded, and he stood to his feet. He stepped towardsAvelina. As he stood in front of her he slapped her hard across the face, tothe point that she spurted out a mouthful of blood. "This is the laststraw." He glared at her and proceeded to
Avelina blinked her eyes open, grunting inpain. A hiss of distress fled her mouth, and she raised her head to look at hersurroundings. She shook her head, and with all the strength she could muster, she sat up off the cold floor. She breathed calmly, and once she was no longerfeeling dizzy, she stood up on her feet and staggered towards her bed. Shereached for her phone, lying near her. She quickly dialed her fiancé’s numberand waited while it rang. A few seconds passed, and no response came. Shedialed his number again, but just like before, no response came. "Ileus..."she whispered his name and proceeded to try again. She tried six more timesbefore he finally picked up. “Youwhore! What are you calling me for?” His aggressive voice resounded from theother side of the phone. "I-ileus,I can explain. Please-" “Whatdo you think of me, Avelina? I know that I don't have as much as he does, but Ihave enough connections to know when my fiancé is
Within a huge, pristine white mansion, noneother than Lucian sat in his home office, staring at the blank screen of hislaptop. "Everything... is gone," he exclaimed under his breath, having mistakenly wiped out every single statement he had ever written for hiscompany. "Are you kidding me?!!" He angrily slammed his fist on thetable in frustration. Hiseyes twitched, and he raised his head to look at the door when he heard it pushopen. His personal guard, Leon, walked in andbowed to him in respect. "YourM," he greeted, and Lucian acknowledged his presence. "Whatis it?" he asked. "Well, there is someone here to see you," Leon replied. "Who?" "Mr.. Ferguson. He is downstairs in the living room, and he requests to see you,"he responded "Whatis that old man doing here now?" A bit curious, Lucian arched his brow, and Leon, who had no clue, shook his head. Lucian stood up from his chair and, with his hands stuffed into the pockets o
"Did he just threaten me?" heasked himself and turned around to glare at Leon, who immediately began to darthis eyes around, not wanting to meet his gaze. "Follow me," he saidto him, and Leon obediently followed him as they returned upstairs. Lucianreturned to his office and sat down in the chair. "I want information onher." He suddenly spoke. "Who?"Leon asked Lucian’sface immediately switched to a frown, and he pinched between his brows. "Leon, you have started to become dumb recently. Who else would I ask you to getinformation on if not his daughter?" He looked at him with a neutral glintin his gaze.Leon blinked his lashes and half smiled athim. "Iam sorry," he apologized. "Whatever.Anyway, while you get the information, there is something I want you to do. Iwant you to find a way into the Ferguson mansion and see what is goingon." "Huh?Why?" Leon inquired. "Leon,if you ask one more dumb question, I am going
They arrived there in less than five hours, and Leon parked the car in the parking lot then stepped down afterwards. Hepulled the door open for Penelope, and she got down. Theyentered the mansion and made their way to the living room, where they foundLucian seated with his legs crossed and the laptop he was using placed on hislap. "Sire!"They both bowed to him in respect, and Lucian averted his gaze from the laptop. He raised his head to look at them andsmiled. "Welcome,Penelope," he said, and a warm smile emerged on Penelope’s face. "It’sbeen a while, Supreme Alpha," she uttered, as she walked over to sit downon the couch opposite Lucian. "Yes,it has been a while. It appears Leon had you do the job." Lucian smiled ashe spoke. "Indeed.Who is a better disguiser than me?" "Absolutelyno one." He chuckled as he replied to her question. "So, what did youfind out?" he inquired. Penelopestared at him and let out a long, d
The next day arrived as quickly aspossible, and Avelina slowly blinked her eyes open. She stared at the ceilingand feeling much better compared to yesterday, a deep breath fled her nose. "Ifeel really hungry," she muttered under her breath, and with all thestrength she could gather, she sat up on the bed. She quickly grabbed herbelly, which still hurt from the kicking she received, and groaned in pain. Sheunhurriedly stood to her feet and wobbled towards the door. She grabbed itshandle and turned it, but a stressed expression appeared on her face as sherealized that it was locked again. "Hello!!!"she yelled, hoping someone would hear her, but no response came. "Hello!!I am hungry! I am really hungry!" She furiously slammed her hands on thedoor, causing Lucas, whose room was next to her, to avert his gaze from thebook in his hands. Helistened again, just to be sure that he was hearing her voice, and once heconfirmed that he was he stood up from the ch
Mr. Ferguson muttered something under hisbreath and then turned to Cherry. He ordered her to get Avelina from upstairs, and Cherry nodded. She made her way upstairs toward Avelina’s room, and onceshe got there, she pushed the door open. "MissAvelina," she called. Avelina, who stood by the mirror staring at herself, turned her head to look at her. "Whatis it?" she questioned. "Yourfather requests your presence downstairs. Please come with me," shereplied with an indifferent expression on her face. Avelina followed behindher, and before they could reach the elevator, they came face to face with LadyFlora, who had an arrogant expression as always. "Takethe stairs. I don't want her filthy body near me," she immediatelyordered, and Cherry bit her lower lip. She slowly turned around to look atAvelina. "Please, let’s take the stairs," she said to her, but Avelina who was obviouslyunwilling looked at Lady Flora from head to toe with disgus
Seated on the bed within their room, wrapped up in a towel, Avelian blinked her eyes as she watched Lucian walk out of the dressing room.In his hands were a pair of clothes, which she could tell were meant for her."I'm not very good with this, so I will let you choose. Which do you prefer?" He asked as he showed her the dress on his right hand as well as the one on his left.Avelina, who still felt embarrassed by what happened earlier, cleared her throat and glanced at the well-designed dark green dress on his right hand before looking at the reddish one on his left. She returned her attention back to the dark green one and narrowed her eyes."I like that one." She pointed at the green one, and Lucian glanced at it."I love it too! It's going to look really good on you." He agreed with her, and Avelian, who had actually loved the way he agreed with her, unknowingly smiled."You’re smiling!" This being the first time that Lucian had ever seen her smile, he beamed widely, unable to den
"I'd like to show you around and introduce you as my wife." He replied as he drenched her whole body."I…don't really want to go…" Avelina shook her head at him, not at all liking the idea."May I ask why?" Lucian tilted his head to one side with a curious look on his face."What’s the point? I personally don’t want to be known as your wife. I told you I want a divorce, so it’s obvious that we won't be together for a while. Sooner or later we will separate and I will leave, so I see no point in doing that." She explained to him coldly, making him understand that nothing would change her mind about the divorce."Is that so?" He asked with a neutral look on his face, and Avelina nodded her head at him."Yes—" Her eyes dilated in the next moment before she could finish her sentence when Lucian’s hands suddenly ran up her belly to her chest and pulled her against him.He tightly embraced her, and Avelina, who couldn’t understand what he was doing, shut her eyes."W-what are you doing?" She
"I know it’s shocking, but... yes, King Lucian just got married." Her father clarified with a pessimistic expression visible on his face, and Selena’s body trembled."No! No! Tha-that’s not possible." She shook her head, unwilling to believe it.There was no way that Lucian would do that to her. They love each other, right? He loves her…right? Her lashes quivered, and she lifted her head to look at her father."Dad…this is a joke…right? Lucian is not married, right?" She gazed at him with eyes that begged for him to tell her that it was a joke."Am sorry… Selena." He said to her and immediately pulled her into a hug before she could begin to cry. "I'm so sorry." He caressed her hair.‘Why dad?" She asked. "Why did he do this to me? Did I do anything wrong? What did he say that I did wrong for him to leave me and marry someone else?" She implored with bubbles of tears dropping from her eyes, and her father tightly hugged her."Worry not, my child! I once told you that I wouldn't let an
He arrived at the room in which she had gone and turned the door handle to open it, but it turned out to be locked."Avelina!" He called her, but Avelina, who was inside the room, did not respond."Avelina! Open the door!" He called her again, but she didn't answer. He rubbed his forehead to calm himself down and took a long, deep breath. He grabbed hold of the door handle, and with just one click, he broke off the lock, causing the door to creak open.Avelina, who was seated on the bed, came into his view, and he arched his brow at her."H-how did you…How did you do that?" Avelina, who was very sure that she had locked the door, fluttered her eyes at him and immediately stood up from the bed the moment he began to walk towards her."Hey! Don’t come close to me!" She warned as she proceeded to get off the bed, but Lucian, who was quick enough to reach her, grabbed her and put her on his shoulder."You really don't listen, do you?" He sighed in disappointment, and Avelina, who was on hi
Lucian complained, but Avelina, who had no intention of doing so, continued, bent on doing it until he agreed to leave the bathroom."A-Avelina!!!" He screamed her name and furiously grabbed a hold of the hose.He tied up his hair, which had loosened due to the impact of the water and drenched his clothing. He stood up from the floor with a rigid look on his face and stared down at her with displeasure in his eyes.Avelina gazed up at him and swallowed hard, actually feeling scared by his deadly gaze.He had never looked at her like that before, so it was actually making her worried."S-sorry—"She quickly proceeded to apologize, thinking that he was going to hit her, but her words halted the moment she saw him step into the bathtub. She fluttered her eyes and let out a loud gasp the moment she felt her body being grabbed and pulled onto a strong structure."W-what are you doing?" She immediately inquired, her face flushed from the sensation of his muscular body against hers."Why are
[Ileus, are you okay?] None other than Rose’s voice sounded from the other side of the phone, and an annoyed look ensued on Ileus's face."What is it? What are you calling me for?!" He inquired, and Rose remained silent.[Uh... I was just wondering how you were doing. I hope my father didn’t hit you too hard?] She inquired with deep care in her voice, and Ileus brought the phone away from his ear to look at the screen.Only the heavens know how much this girl pisses him off!Does she think he loves her?How hilarious! As of the moment, he is just using her to get what he wants. When he does, she will be immediately dumped in the dump.Of course he knows how gross Roselia's character was, so why would he even like someone as delusional as she is?Avelina will always be the only woman he loves; however, he wanted to punish her for having an affair with another man. But who knew that his plan would backfire and cause him to completely lose? What pains him the most is not that she had an
Avelina stared at him and squinted her eyes. "A-am not hungry." She shook her head at him and turned around to leave, but Lucian pulled her back."Avelina, you haven’t eaten anything since yesterday; how can you not be hungry?" He asked, and Avelina stood still, unsure of what to say.She slowly snatched her hand from him and turned around to look at him. "Why do you care?" She inquired.Lucian gazed at her and let out a soft sigh.Care? Why does he care for her? That is something that he can't answer either. He knows deep within him that he doesn't just care for her because she is his mate, but why then? That’s what he is unable to figure out."Avelina, you are my wife. Is that not enough reason?" He asked, and Avelina furrowed her brows at him."I am not your wife." Her frown deepened. "Don’t address me like that. I hate it." She glared and turned around to leave, but a statement from Lucian made her halt."You will learn to accept it sooner or later. You can't always get what you w
"What?" Lucian fluttered his eyes at her with his brows raised in a bit of confusion. "Divorce?" He asked,"Yes. You said you would give me anything I want, right? so long as I sit beside you. Well, what I want is divorce." She stated with an indifferent expression on her face, and Lucian stood gazing at her, not even sure of what to say.He let out a soft chuckle and shook his head. "Well, never mind. You can sit wherever you want." He said to her, and Avelina rolled her eyes at him.She shifted in and sat in one of the chairs, a slight frown on her face."While you sit there, do you know what I am going to do?" Lucian asked, his lips curled into a half-smile.Avelina lifted her head to look at him and lazily raised her brow at him, showing she couldn’t care less."I will simply grab a chair and—" Lucian gripped the arm of one of the chairs closest to him and turned to look at her. "—And take a seat beside you." He dropped it beside her and sat down. "Problem solved." He smirked.‘Yo
"You ungrateful child!–""You call it ungrateful?" Lucian began to laugh. "You are really funny, father. You and I both know that I am seated above you today because I am better and stronger than you will ever be. I am seated on that throne today because of my strength! and not because of you.""If you have the chance, you would want nothing more than my downfall. You have always hated me, and that hate will never change, that I never doubt, so I expect nothing from you." He took deep breaths, and with a cold look in his eyes, he turned around to leave."One more thing—" He halted and looked at his father with the edges of his eyes. "–See my wife. You better keep your filthy hands off her. I know what’s going on in your mind right now, so if you want to maintain your old head on your body, keep away from her. She is the last possession of mine that you would want to touch." He half smiled and walked away, leaving his father’s eyes twitching furiously in anger. He arrived outside the bu
