Avelina returned to the family mansion as fast as humanly possible, and the moment she stepped into the living room, her gaze fell on the entire family. This included her father, Mr. Ferguson, his first wife, Lady Flora, her half-sister, Rosalia, her half-brother, Lucas, and finally her ill mother, Irene, who was the second wife, all seated in the living room, waiting for her.
Do they all already know? But so quickly? She thought to herself and fiddled with her fingers as she proceeded further into the living room. She stood in front of them, and her mother, Irene, who looked quite disappointed, stared at her with pain in her eyes.
"Moth-"
"You do know that for your disgraceful action, punishment comes." Mr. Ferguson’s angry voice resounded, and he stood to his feet. He stepped towards Avelina. As he stood in front of her he slapped her hard across the face, to the point that she spurted out a mouthful of blood. "This is the last straw." He glared at her and proceeded to slap her again, but the sudden vibration of the phone in his pocket had him halt.
He glanced at the pocket of his pants and pulled out his phone. He picked up the incoming call, and a deep, unrecognizable voice began to resound through the phone.
“I am speaking with Ferguson Dante, right?” the unknown male voice questioned.
Mr. Ferguson stayed silent for a few moments, contemplating how such an unknown person could have gotten a hold of his contact.
"Who is this?" he asked, not bothering to answer his question.
“Well, then, I believe I am speaking with Dante,” the voice scoffed. “I have a special deal to make with you,” he said
Immediately uninterested in whatever deal it may be, Mr. Ferguson proceeded to cut the call, but the next word that came from the unknown person had him ceasing immediately.
“I see your daughter had quite a rough night with someone,” the male voice mentioned.
Mr. Ferguson's eyes flashed, and his hand gripped the phone tightly. "Who are you?" he questioned once more.
“I have all the recordings of what happened from last night up to this morning. You know, Dante, I have a lot that I could do with this recording, so you might want to think your decision through.”
The person chuckled and Mr. Ferguson instantly went dormant in bewilderment.
Recordings? he thought. He recalled what had transpired this morning, including what had occurred last night. No, impossible! There is no way that he has a recording of those moments. It’s not possible! He disagreed and quickly tried to hang up the call, but the unknown voice, however, cackled again.
“I know you must be in doubt, Dante. But I wouldn’t just call you to mess around. This is not child’s play. I will give you until tomorrow to call me back and we will discuss the proposal. If not, I will release this recording, and we will see how your perfect image will remain. The lies that you have told the world. Perhaps it's time, it's all over.” The person laughed hysterically and hung up the phone.
Mr. Ferguson slowly brought the phone away from his ear, and obvious anger bubbled in his eyes.
He shifted his deadly gaze to Avelina, and in fury, he grabbed a hold of her and slapped her hard across the face, causing her to fall to the floor. She clutched her cheek and began to back away from him.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," she pleaded, with tears already welling up in her eyes.
"Get the whip," Mr. Ferguson ordered, and Avelina’s body trembled instantly.
"F-father, I am so sorry. Please forgive me, I beg you," she pleaded, with tears streaming down her face. Mr. Ferguson glared at her and snatched the whip from his personal bodyguard. He looked at her with wickedness and rage in his eyes, and Avelina, knowing what was about to happen, rushed towards her mother hoping to be saved. But her mother simply pushed her away.
"M-mother..." she called, but her mother looked away from her, not having the courage to stare her in the eyes.
"I am sorry," she whispered.
Avelina’s heart dropped to her stomach, and horror flashed in her eyes the moment a pair of hands gripped her. They pulled her and had her kneel in front of her father. Mr. Ferguson’s hands trembled in fury, and without a bit of fatherly love in his eyes, he raised the whip and hit her mercilessly.
Avelina’s scream resounded throughout the entire mansion, and she struggled to free herself, but that was to no avail.
"All you ever do is bring me trouble, nothing more. I have held back many times, but this was the last straw." He scowled at her and furiously whipped her again, causing Avelina’s white shirt to tear. Blood began to ooze from the open wound caused by the intense whipping, staining her clothing.
"Father, that’s enough," Lucas pleaded, unable to stand by and watch such inhumane treatment, but his father just frowned at him with wrath in his eyes.
"Stay out of this, Lucas, or else... you will join in." He scowled and returned his attention to Avelina.
As the whip landed on Avelina's body, she quivered and whimpered, unable to cry anymore. She clutched the floor so tightly that her knuckles turned completely white.
The blood that dropped from her body, arms, and even her face fell and tainted the floor. She inhaled and exhaled, trying to breathe, but because of how weak her body has gotten, she ended up collapsing to the floor.
"Avelina!!!" Her mother quickly rushed towards her and knelt down on the floor beside her. She pulled Avelina’s unconscious body into her arms and caressed her face. "Avelina! Honey, please wake up. I'm sorry, please wake up," Irene pleaded and hugged her tightly.
She couldn’t help her because she knew that Avelina’s punishment would be even worse if she dared interfere. So for the sake of not wanting to make things worse for her, she ignored her and pretended like she didn’t deeply wish to help her. But seeing her daughter collapse on the floor triggered her reaction and she couldn’t help but reach out to her.
Painful hot tears fell from her eyes, and she immediately darted her gazes around when Mr. Ferguson ordered his bodyguards to pull Avelina away from her. "Dante! Dante, please don't do this," Irene pleaded, but Mr. Ferguson pretended as though she didn't exist to him.
She ordered his men to lock Avelina up in her room, and they did so.
"Dante, please. She needs to be tended to," Irene pleaded. Mr. Ferguson looked at her with revulsion in his eyes. He dismissed everyone and stormed out of the living room towards his bedroom. With horror in their eyes, the maids hurried into the living room and proceeded to clean up the mess.
Avelina blinked her eyes open, grunting inpain. A hiss of distress fled her mouth, and she raised her head to look at hersurroundings. She shook her head, and with all the strength she could muster, she sat up off the cold floor. She breathed calmly, and once she was no longerfeeling dizzy, she stood up on her feet and staggered towards her bed. Shereached for her phone, lying near her. She quickly dialed her fiancé’s numberand waited while it rang. A few seconds passed, and no response came. Shedialed his number again, but just like before, no response came. "Ileus..."she whispered his name and proceeded to try again. She tried six more timesbefore he finally picked up. “Youwhore! What are you calling me for?” His aggressive voice resounded from theother side of the phone. "I-ileus,I can explain. Please-" “Whatdo you think of me, Avelina? I know that I don't have as much as he does, but Ihave enough connections to know when my fiancé is
Within a huge, pristine white mansion, noneother than Lucian sat in his home office, staring at the blank screen of hislaptop. "Everything... is gone," he exclaimed under his breath, having mistakenly wiped out every single statement he had ever written for hiscompany. "Are you kidding me?!!" He angrily slammed his fist on thetable in frustration. Hiseyes twitched, and he raised his head to look at the door when he heard it pushopen. His personal guard, Leon, walked in andbowed to him in respect. "YourM," he greeted, and Lucian acknowledged his presence. "Whatis it?" he asked. "Well, there is someone here to see you," Leon replied. "Who?" "Mr.. Ferguson. He is downstairs in the living room, and he requests to see you,"he responded "Whatis that old man doing here now?" A bit curious, Lucian arched his brow, and Leon, who had no clue, shook his head. Lucian stood up from his chair and, with his hands stuffed into the pockets o

"Follow me," he saidto him, and Leon obediently followed him as they returned upstairs. Lucianreturned to his office and sat down in the chair. "I want information onher." He suddenly spoke. "Who?"Leon asked Lucian’sface immediately switched to a frown, and he pinched between his brows. "Leon, you have started to become dumb recently. Who else would I ask you to getinformation on if not his daughter?" He looked at him with a neutral glintin his gaze.Leon blinked his lashes and half smiled athim. "Iam sorry," he apologized. "Whatever.Anyway, while you get the information, there is something I want you to do. Iwant you to find a way into the Ferguson mansion and see what is goingon." "Huh?Why?" Leon inquired. "Leon,if you ask one more dumb question, I am going
They arrived there in less than five hours, and Leon parked the car in the parking lot then stepped down afterwards. Hepulled the door open for Penelope, and she got down. Theyentered the mansion and made their way to the living room, where they foundLucian seated with his legs crossed and the laptop he was using placed on hislap. "Sire!"They both bowed to him in respect, and Lucian averted his gaze from the laptop. He raised his head to look at them andsmiled. "Welcome,Penelope," he said, and a warm smile emerged on Penelope’s face. "It’sbeen a while, Supreme Alpha," she uttered, as she walked over to sit downon the couch opposite Lucian. "Yes,it has been a while. It appears Leon had you do the job." Lucian smiled ashe spoke. "Indeed.Who is a better disguiser than me?" "Absolutelyno one." He chuckled as he replied to her question. "So, what did youfind out?" he inquired. Penelopestared at him and let out a long, d
The next day arrived as quickly aspossible, and Avelina slowly blinked her eyes open. She stared at the ceilingand feeling much better compared to yesterday, a deep breath fled her nose. "Ifeel really hungry," she muttered under her breath, and with all thestrength she could gather, she sat up on the bed. She quickly grabbed herbelly, which still hurt from the kicking she received, and groaned in pain. Sheunhurriedly stood to her feet and wobbled towards the door. She grabbed itshandle and turned it, but a stressed expression appeared on her face as sherealized that it was locked again. "Hello!!!"she yelled, hoping someone would hear her, but no response came. "Hello!!I am hungry! I am really hungry!" She furiously slammed her hands on thedoor, causing Lucas, whose room was next to her, to avert his gaze from thebook in his hands. Helistened again, just to be sure that he was hearing her voice, and once heconfirmed that he was he stood up from the ch
Mr. Ferguson muttered something under hisbreath and then turned to Cherry. He ordered her to get Avelina from upstairs, and Cherry nodded. She made her way upstairs toward Avelina’s room, and onceshe got there, she pushed the door open. "MissAvelina," she called. Avelina, who stood by the mirror staring at herself, turned her head to look at her. "Whatis it?" she questioned. "Yourfather requests your presence downstairs. Please come with me," shereplied with an indifferent expression on her face. Avelina followed behindher, and before they could reach the elevator, they came face to face with LadyFlora, who had an arrogant expression as always. "Takethe stairs. I don't want her filthy body near me," she immediatelyordered, and Cherry bit her lower lip. She slowly turned around to look atAvelina. "Please, let’s take the stairs," she said to her, but Avelina who was obviouslyunwilling looked at Lady Flora from head to toe with disgus
She screamed at him."What is wrong with you people? Why do you all hate me so much? I have been used all my life, and now it is to marry me off to someone I don't even know!""Yes, I made a mistake! But is it that big of a deal for you to decide to marry me off to him? Father, you know that the person I love is Ileus. I cannot marry someone I don’t love!" She yelled and turned to face Lucian."And you! You think I am just going to marry you because we slept together for one night. What do you think I am? A trophy that you can just grab from the shelf and make yours?""You think that just because you are rich, you can get whatever you want? hahaha." She laughed hysterically. "You see, that’s where you are wrong. I will never marry someone like you. I loathe people like you, and I would rather die than be with someone such as you!"She declared and turned around to storm away, but Lucian, however, grabbed her by the wrist and stopped her on her track. He stared at her, and his lips slo
Avelina, who had cried herself to sleep last night, awoke as the early morning sun hit her face through the open window. She glanced at the bright sky and recalling what day it was, she quickly sprang from the bed.She grabbed a hold of her phone and hurriedly dialed Ileus’s number.[The number you are trying to call is currently unavailable. Please leave a message.]"No! No! Please pick up Ileus." She bit her lower lip in anxiety and dialed the number over and over again, but just like she expected, he never picked up.A depressed expression emerged on her face, and she slurped down onto the sofa. She looked at the screen of the phone, and the urge to try one more time overwhelmed her.She did as her mind had told her, but as disappointing as it was, he didn’t pick even after trying a dozen times.A long, deep breath fled her nose, and sad tears slowly began to bubble in her eyes.Well, there is only one last thing she can do, and that is to send a voicemail to him."Hey…um… Ileus...
