Abigail gazed at Leon with unhidden affection in her eyes. "At last, I don't have to address you as a friend anymore now."

Leon looked at her with a complicated expression. "Abigail, why did it have to come to this?"

She understood the meaning behind his words.

She smiled bitterly and scoffed at herself.

"Yeah, why did it have to come to this? I thought I was only using you temporarily, but I could never forget the time when I came back broken and defeated after failing abroad. You were the only one who didn't mock me out of all our classmates, and instead, you treated me warmly."

"I was scared when my crime was revealed, but my biggest fear was the thought that you might look at me differently instead of the punishment that I would face."

"Leon, this isn't how things were supposed to be between us. We both made mistakes."
