"Rachel, what the hell is wrong with you?" Leon's sleepy and groggy voice came through. He was obviously angry. "We're getting a divorce tomorrow. What does Zoe want this time?"

"Leon, is it Zoe? Did she change her mind again?" Abigail's soft and cautious voice was heard, and there was even a slight hint of panic in her tone. "I just want to be with you. Why can't she fulfill my one small wish?"

I heard some rustling. Leon must have said something to calm Abigail.

Then, he barked, "Stop testing my patience with your silly games! Tell Zoe she'd better give up any hope she's clinging to and get the divorce done with me tomorrow!"

"Wait, no—" Rachel tried to say something, but Leon abruptly hung up the phone.

She couldn't reach him at all after that.

Leon had blocked her.

Rachel was now sitting on the floor in defeat. I wanted to pat her head so badly, to tell her that she had done all she could and that none of this was her fault.
