I watched as Leon suddenly fell silent, almost as if he had collapsed under the final emotional strain.

He uncovered the remaining white sheet on my body with trembling hands. At last, my body which looked like a broken doll was revealed.

My abdomen bore several scars, and my skin was covered in bruises, bloodstains, and abrasions. Besides that, my skin had lost its glow and had turned ashen.

I looked like a rag doll that had been tossed aside in the garbage after enduring something violent.

"H-how did she get hurt?" Leon croaked.

Abigail was stunned, and I noticed beads of sweat forming on her forehead despite the low temperature in the morgue. "Leon, Zoe is gone. There's no need to—"

"You still had no idea about it?" Rachel snorted. "Of course, you wouldn't. All your attention was on Abigail. How could you possibly notice that Zoe had been brought into the hospital that same day with Abigail?"
