Chapter 10

This was how the story went from Ian's perspective.

"Why do you like me, Ian?" Sadie asked. Her postpartum depression was better now, but her emotions would occasionally spiral.

We were on the flight to our travel destination. She leaned against my shoulder while asking me that question, sounding completely serious.

"Would you believe me if I told you I fell for you at first sight 20 years ago?" I asked.

"You're lying!"

I wasn't. That day, Dad had promised to take me to the amusement park, but we had to make a detour to bring someone called Mr. Gray some documents.

Dad pulled over at a kindergarten's entrance. I sat in the car and noticed the three or four-year-old girl beside Mr. Gray. Her hair was in pigtails, and her eyes were bright with innocence. She looked as beautiful as the dolls sold in shopping malls.

Once Dad was back in the car, I hurriedly asked, "Was that Mr. Gray's daughter, Dad?"

"That's his younger daughter. He has an older one who's about your age."
