"Yes, yes, you two really do make a perfect couple—like a match made in heaven.”

Luna blushed shyly, lowering her head.

Just at that moment, I pushed the door open.

"Hubby, could you step out for a moment? I’d like to have a word with Miss Dawson."

The atmosphere shifted instantly, thick with awkward tension.

The elderly couple, who had just been singing Owen and Luna’s praises, now looked at them with disgust, as if they’d swallowed a fly.

"Suzy, Luna is still recovering. She can’t handle too much stress," Owen said as he positioned his tall frame protectively in front of her, clearly worried I might cause a scene.

"Owen, let her speak," Luna said, struggling to sit up, forcing a weak smile as she glanced at me. "Suzy might just have a misunderstanding. Maybe if we talk, we can clear it up."

I set down the basket of flowers, watching their little performance with mild amusement.
