I Plead Guilty

I blinked rapidly for a few seconds and the detective repeated her question. I rubbed my thumb over my nails as a way to distract myself from how anxious and nervous I was.

“No, you promised me,” I spoke and she squinted her eyes as a way to show her confusion.

“What?” She blurted out.

“You promised me. You told me that if I answered your question about the October 28, 2020 picture, you might answer mine.” I reminded her, and she smiled. “I want to know how you got that picture.”

She clicked her tongue and adjusted herself in the chair she was sitting in. “First of all, I did not promise you. But nevertheless, I am going to answer your question.”

I smiled lopsidedly. “Thank you.” I had a very strong feeling that the person that handed in the picture was Jacob. It had to be. All of this was his work. He was taking revenge.
