A Free Woman

Today was the day that I was released.

It had been a week since my meeting with Zoe in that room. She did as she promised and worked on my release papers with Ashton. Everything went smoothly and my case was not only closed but sealed by detective Stone.

I was up and ready at 6 am to beat the queue of other prisoners who were also leaving. I said my goodbyes the night before morning because when it was time for me to leave, I just wanted to get up and go.

There were people being released on the same day so I tried my best not to be at the back. We were all led to a reception where we went through a discharge process, which included having the items that were confiscated from us on arrival, returned.

I was not stripped searched, I was patted down and then a senior officer read me my license conditions which I was then asked to sign.

As soon as I walked out of the gates, I was a free woman and a feeling of relief washed over me. Zayn was the first person I saw, then I saw the others,
