Usually, when I had visitors, I would be taken to a room to meet them. Other inmates were not given that privilege, it was only given to me because of who I was: the future queen of the demon people. Jacob who was my visitor for the day should have been waiting for me in the room but it was different this time. He walked with me side by side until we reached my cell. The guards were less strict and that let me know that either Jacob had them wrapped around his finger or he had some solid relationship with the warden.“So what do you want to talk about?” He sat on my roommate's bed and I stood with my arms folded on my chest. “Zayn said that you wanted to talk to me urgently, and that got my attention.”“The deal.” I walked slowly and then sat on my bed. I watched a smirk grow on his face and I pursed my lips. “You see,” He chuckled. “I knew that you would come around. But sadly, the deal’s off the table.” He said in a matter-of-fact tone. “Wh–what?” I asked him as a nervous laugh
Tap. Tap. Tap. My fingers tapped on the metal table. The room was cold and the air was dry. Artificial light lit up the entire space and a guard stood at the door. I was wearing my hair down for the first time since I was incarcerated. The gray jumpsuit that I was wearing matched how I felt: gloomy. I wanted to be hopeful, I wanted to believe without any hint of doubt that my sister would never do what Jacob had accused her of. But what if the vampire king was right? Jacob was not one to bluff, I learned that the hard way. So, yeah, my mind was gloomy. The noise of the door opening captured my attention and I saw Zoe walk in. She was wearing an elegant floral dress and had a blank expression on her face as she approached me. She then sat in the chair across from me, grabbed a rubberband from her wrist, and pulled her hair into a ponytail with the help of the band. When she was done, she flashed me a small smile. “Hi.” “Hi?” “Jacob told me to come and see you. He told me that he
I stormed off to the door but was stopped by the guard. “Excuse me? I would like to leave,” I announced, but he ignored me. I tried to push past him but he would not budge. He stood by the doorway and had a hard look on his face. This made me very annoyed. “Lara, we’re not done talking.” I heard Zoe say, and I scoffed rudely. “No, I’m done listening to how you f*cked up my life and hate me. I’m done,” I replied without looking at her. I was still trying to leave, but the guard at the entrance was being such a d*ck! He kept standing in my way.I groaned in frustration and pulled on my hair. I turned back to Zoe and folded my arms on my chest. “What do you want, Zoe? What else do you want from me? Because I really can’t give you any more of myself, you have taken it all and dashed it to the floor.” I did not want to be in the same room as her right now.She frowned and then gestured for me to sit down. I clenched my jaw and did as she asked. “I know about the baby.” Of course, Zayn
Today was the day that I was released. It had been a week since my meeting with Zoe in that room. She did as she promised and worked on my release papers with Ashton. Everything went smoothly and my case was not only closed but sealed by detective Stone.I was up and ready at 6 am to beat the queue of other prisoners who were also leaving. I said my goodbyes the night before morning because when it was time for me to leave, I just wanted to get up and go.There were people being released on the same day so I tried my best not to be at the back. We were all led to a reception where we went through a discharge process, which included having the items that were confiscated from us on arrival, returned. I was not stripped searched, I was patted down and then a senior officer read me my license conditions which I was then asked to sign. As soon as I walked out of the gates, I was a free woman and a feeling of relief washed over me. Zayn was the first person I saw, then I saw the others,
Two days had passed and Zayn and I had informed Bunny and the others about Zoe and about what she did. But we made sure to leave Serenity out because it was obvious; if we would have told her, there would be no way that she would have not told her brother. She cared too much for him.I also informed them of the deal that I made with Zoe to get released from prison. They all were just as shocked as I was when I first learned that my sister was my own worst nightmare. But I did let them know that I would be going nowhere and neither were they. I was not going to allow myself to get bullied by anyone again, not even my sister. We all agreed that that was what we were going to do. We knew the risks but we decided to go with our plan anyway. It was morning and we were all eating breakfast in the dining area. Ashton and Serenity were not with us, they had to go to some kind of meeting relating to their father. I believe that they were going to meet up with a lawyer concerning the will t

I stood on the front porch while Zayn stood next to me. Bunny and the others were here with us and they were doing the exact same thing that we were doing: watching what was happening. It was chaotic.I gasped as Ashton stormed from the house with a suitcase in his hand. He threw it out and it landed on the lawn with a thud. Zoe followed him as she sobbed loudly. It was her things that were being thrown out.He did not say a word, but his face said it all. He was devastated. “Ashton, please, you don’t understand!” Her voice was loud and filled with pain. Her face was stained with tears and snot ran down her nose. “Say something, please.” She begged him as she followed him back into the house.“Uh, should we do something?” I asked as I looked at Zayn. I was starting to feel sorry for Zoe. She had been a terrible sister to me but still, I grew up with her. I spent my entire childhood with her. So many holidays were spent with her and our parents.Whether I’d like to admit it or not, s
Each time the paws of my wolf hit the ground as I ran, I was pushed further and further. But I was no match for the speed of Zoe’s wolf even though I was doing my best. She was catching up on me and right on my tail. I had never felt so much fear in my life. Zoe was pissed and I was who she was directing all her rage at. My heart was beating so fast and my breathing rate was through the roof as I ran. I did not know if Ashton and the others were following us but I was sure getting tired. I kept going and the wind kept smacking me in the face. In no time, I saw the Hulu forest and I tried to increase my pace but I was at my max, I just could not. It was just too hard for me. With a few more sprints, I was in the forest and I dashed through trees and shrubs until I felt a heavy weight knocking me over.It was Zoe’s wolf. I cried from the sudden pain and got smacked hard right on the forest floor. Rocks and sticks poked my body and I groaned. She had me pinned to the ground as she
“Come on, guys. You have Lara and me out here waiting like kids waiting to open up gifts on Christmas morning!” Zayn exclaimed, causing everyone to laugh. The door suddenly opened by itself and my eyes widened mildly. “Did that door just open by itself?” I took a step back, and Ashton and Zoe were amused by my reaction. The door opened wider and a golden retriever jumped out of the car, almost giving me a heart attack. “Gosh!” I exclaimed as I held Zayn’s arm tightly. “I’m not going to lie, I was a bit startled when that dog came out.” Zayn laughed lightly. “So that’s the surprise, huh? A doggie.” Zayn bend down and played with the dog. I had a small fear of dogs. One bit me when I was a kid and since then I have been terrified of them. No matter how cute and cuddly they were, I stayed my distance away from them. The golden retriever kept licking and jumping on Zayn like it had known him for years. “The doggie is a surprise but not for you guys, he’s for the kids.” Ashton
It was Christmas day, the 25th of December. Werewolves were howling in celebration even though it was the sun that was up. Carols were being played and families were together. The air was warm, the sky was crystal blue, and the day was perfect. Where did the Werewolf Territory take the concept of Christmas when we believed in the Moon goddess? We adopted it thousands of years ago when humans once lived amongst us. They celebrated our holidays and so we did the same, as a show of respect. That was when the word Christmas entered the vocabulary of the Werewolf Territory. And since then, we have celebrated the day and passed on the tradition from generation to generation. The Christmas tree in the living room was lit up and gifts were scattered under it. All the kids were up and sat eagerly next to their presents, waiting for us to give them the go-ahead to start opening up them. The air was filled with anticipation and joy. A hot cup of chocolate sat in my hand and Zayn was drinki
My claws immediately sprang forth from underneath my fingernails, and a growl escaped my mouth. “What the hell are you doing here? You should be in prison.” I was on the verge of wolfing out. It was not like I felt threatened by Jacob, but I did not like the fact that he was in our mansion without us even knowing. The kids were literally right across the hall from there. “Please. Please calm down and let me explain,” He begged. He placed the box of chocolate on the kitchen island and took a step toward us.“Not another step, buddy. I won’t hesitate to rip you to pieces.” Zayn threatened him, and he gulped as he nodded. My wolf had not gotten any real action for a while and it was yearning for some. I usually trained in the training room with Zoe and the others almost every Saturday though my wolf wanted more. “Start explaining.” I breathed out a short sigh as I continued to keep my wolf at bay.“Okay. Okay. But first, promise not to kick me out, please?” His eyes were pleading. I
‘You can’t save me, she-wolf.’ The words echoed in my head as I stared into Alex’s sad eyes. He looked convinced that he was beyond saving and that seemed to scare me a bit. He was too sure.“But at least let me try,” I begged him. He scoffed. “What are you even going to do? Bring my wife back?” He rose to his feet. “For now, Lara, just let me try to figure out the journey I’m on emotionally. I will go back to my pack…eventually.” “Okay.” I did not push him. And he did have a point. What was I going to do to save him? I was not a superhero. I did not have special powers. I was just a she-wolf that cared deeply for people. And apparently, that was called a hero mentality; wanting to help everyone to the point where sometimes I didn’t even regard myself. Alex may have said it while he was lashing out but I think he was right: He had been a leader way longer than I had. I may have been queen but that was just a nice coating, deep inside, I was still an omega. “It’s kind of late, I th
First of all, thank you all for reading and following this intriguing journey of Lara. I truly appreciate you all. I too, have fallen in love with this story and would have loved to write it forever but sadly, every good thing comes to an end eventually. The bonus chapters would soon be exhausted. I aim to write two more and then tag the story as completed soon. After I have updated the last two chapters, I would add another Author Note. PLEASE write REVIEWS for the book. Also, I would love for you all to vote(GIVE GEMS), and write COMMENTS! They make my day and literally pushes to write more content. I look forward to hearing from you all! :)
A few seconds of silence filled the home theatre because the cartoon could not play forever, obviously. The projector was now off and the fancy inbuild lights on the ceiling were on. Alex sat next to me and played with his fingers nervously. He looked slightly uncomfortable but a look of determination also could be seen on his face. “For starters, I have two questions.” I began, and he turned his full attention to me. “Shoot.”“First one is what you mean when you said that I have earned the right or privilege to ask you about anything?” I raised one of my eyebrows. He smiled weakly. “Lara, you have become family. You have proven to me that you can be trusted and that you are willing to go through hell to protect my son. Do we have to do the whole ‘I am a blessing’ stuff over again?” He chuckled, and I could not help but laugh lightly. “No, thank you,” I refused as I continued to laugh. “That is why I came back here after I lashed out at you. You did not deserve that; you have be
I sat down next to Alex and the smell of his cologne filled my nose. It was a strong scent but I really liked it though. The black-and-white cartoon playing on the projector was aesthetically pleasing. It reminded me of the past. Not just any past, or mine. But like the 1960s. Weird because I was not even alive at that time but that was the vibe I got from looking at Mickey Mouse doing funny dances while in black-and-white color. “You said you wanted to talk?” Alex smiled weakly as intrigue smeared his facial features. He was wearing a hoodie that looked great on him. If we were not about to talk about serious matters, I would have asked him where he got it. “Yeah, but you go first. What do you want to talk about?” I adjusted myself in my seat and made myself comfortable enough. My attention was trained on him as I awaited him to speak. “You sure?” “Yeah, go ahead.” I encouraged him. I was curious as to what he wanted to talk to me about. But I already knew what I wanted to talk
I crossed my legs and watched Gene and Zayn sip lemonade from the glasses that were brought by the male helper. I was very invested in Gene’s backstory. I wanted to know more. “You have not touched your lemonade, dear,” Gene pointed out and we both glanced at the tall glass that was filled with the yellowy-sugary drink. “Her teeth hurt when she drinks lemonade,” Zayn explained politely, and I smiled involuntarily. He placed his hand over mine on the couch and a warm feeling filled my chest. “Sorry,” I mouthed to Gene but she brushed me off lightly. “Oh, that’s alright. You should have told me.” She crossed her legs too. “Would you like me to send for water?” “No, it’s okay. Don’t trouble yourself.” I played with the tips of my hair. “You said that the Silver Moon pack has unspoken laws?” “Uh, yeah. Laws that have been passed down from generation to generation. It’s not written and posted somewhere but it’s in the hearts of all the inhabitants of Rocky. I learned about those laws
Smiles. Laughter. Joy. A lightness filled the air as Alex got out of the detective’s car. Snow fell from the sky and soon made white patches on his hair. His face was flushed and he had a smile so bright, that it could light up a dark night. The light humming of the car lingered in the air, and detective Stone and her wife got out of the car seconds later with cheerful looks on their faces. Bunny and the others joined us outside and Liam was out of words when his eyes landed on his dad. He glanced at me and his lips parted in disbelief. “Thank you,” He mouthed, and then turned his attention back to Alex. Liam watched his dad approach him and his eyes became glossy as they threatened to spill tears. He kept clenching and unclenching his jaw, and I could tell that he was trying his best to stop himself from crying. When Alex closed the distance between him and his son, they hugged each other tightly, and the scene made me teary. Zayn wrapped his right arm around my torso and pulled
