I spun around, my cheeks warming with embarrassment. I hadn’t meant to get caught snooping, especially by Bryson whom I barely see this days.

And I definitely wasn’t ready to reveal my newfound sensitivity to scents. Not yet at least. Not until I understood what was happening and have made sure this wasn’t an hallucination.

“I noticed the door was open and I just wanted to see if he was in.” I looked back at the door and then darted my eyes back at him.

Since he had no reason to feel like I was deceiving him, he nodded and internally I was relieved.

But the incident stayed the whole day without leaving my mind and I wasn’t going to be let go either. I badly want to see the hybrid king and confirm this once again.

What has puzzled me the most now was not sensing anything in the air while Bryson came to me the other time. Is it possible there’s someone playing these tricks on me?
