KATHERINE I placed my ear against the rough wooden door in an attempt to hear their conversation, when suddenly the door gave way and I went tumbling in. I quickly held up my hands and there goes the fake chuckle, “Oops, I’m sorry. I slipped.”Both George and Derek’s eyes were on me, looking so suspicious over my sudden entry. I rephrase, I barged in. “Actually how did I get here?” I stopped in front of them and squinted my face. And one eyebrow of Derek that’s instantly raised told me how ridiculous he thought I was. To myself I’m hiding from him, whereas he has already seen me clearly. He knew I was eavesdropping. Actually I was curious and couldn’t hold myself down from going to hear what he was telling my brother- I should get used to calling him that- when he called him to his chamber. Although I heard close to nothing before the door decided it was the perfect time to stab me in the back. “Were you eavesdropping, sis?” George threw me a side glance between starting disbel
DEREK“Are you telling me you’ve never been drawn to me, the perfect art? Or, you just won’t admit how much you’ve fallen head over heels for me and my sucking seduction?” When little mouse mentioned that, I fell silent. Her outburst freaking hushed me up and pushed me into total silence. Not because she’s wrong but for the fact that, she just revealed a truth that has been oblivion to both me and my heart. My heart that couldn’t help but pound secretively. Making things worse, Katherine has a lingering smile on her face as she await words from my mouth. I muttered none- and ignoring her present little brother, I titled my body forward, and met her red pouted lips with mine. Her face instantly brightened but before she could speak, I was out.I don’t have an answer to her question. What I gave her was an answer that would last longer in her head; and what would matter at the end is her understanding of it. “Where have you been?” I didn’t even half to finish stepping down the sta
KATHERINE “Why do I smell smoke?” I was pacing like a mantra when I actually heard a voice boom somewhere behind me in the kitchen and in shock, life almost jumped out of me. None of my prayers were answered. Especially since it resolved around a particular sharp-eared hybrid man. “Uhm, no reason.” I shook my head and said under my breath as I slowly wiped around. Derek who looked like he doesn’t believe me didn’t only walk closer but peeked over my shoulder. Perks of being taller than me. When he saw what I have done, he set his eyes back on me. But this time, he looked horrified. “Is burnt pasta now a new recipe? Damn— The whole kitchen is smoky, Katherine!” He’s right. He just made me realize how foolish I must have been deciding to even cook and in return, causing a havoc. I was so hungry but dozed off and by the time I snapped awake, it was then I realized the entire meal was now burnt. I winced, apologizing as I tried to stifle a cough. "I'm sorry, I'll clear everything u
EVASimply seeing her around makes my blood boil. Especially when she has that irritating smile on her face. It never ceases to make me want to swing into action- maybe when she doesn’t have the baby anymore, she’d be able to stay in her lane. Just that she doesn’t want me any closer to her. Since the last time I made a mistake of not clearing the evidence and the Hybrid’s jacket was found in my room, she’s been cautious of me. But not any more. No matter what it takes, I want to bring Katherine down and reclaim my spot. I was the one repulsive when king Derek wanted to make me his herder but now the same me, wants him back. I won’t stop until I have him and have made him see I’m the perfect person for him. When morning came, I was the first maid to get out of bed simply because of my agenda for today. After doing my morning routine, I went to stand at the kitchen’s doorway where if Katherine comes, she’d meet me and I will be the one to serve her meal today. The other workers
KATHERINE “I didn’t break a bone, did I?” Imagine an emergency your brother fell from the staircase and lost his consciousness but coming in, the first thing you heard him ask was whether or not he broke a bone. I tried not to let him see how pissed I am but, how could he be so careless?“You ain’t thankful you got to wake up after the accident. All you’re concerned about is if you broke a bone. Do you know even how scared I was?” I asked, and inwardly facepalmed myself. Looking back at him, I scoffed with annoyance dripping off my words, “And yes, you broke many bones, not just one.”“Crap!” He almost jumped out of the bed over the false revelation and seeing everything was alright with me, he looked pointedly at me and all I did was sigh. I was scared. I can’t remember the kind of flight I took here but even in my state, I ran incredibly fast… which is dangerous and could have gotten Derek mad if he was there to witness it. All in one, I’m grateful he’s alive. Just baffled over
KATHERINE “And what are you doing?”I spun around, my cheeks warming with embarrassment. I hadn’t meant to get caught snooping, especially by Bryson whom I barely see this days. And I definitely wasn’t ready to reveal my newfound sensitivity to scents. Not yet at least. Not until I understood what was happening and have made sure this wasn’t an hallucination. “I noticed the door was open and I just wanted to see if he was in.” I looked back at the door and then darted my eyes back at him. Since he had no reason to feel like I was deceiving him, he nodded and internally I was relieved. But the incident stayed the whole day without leaving my mind and I wasn’t going to be let go either. I badly want to see the hybrid king and confirm this once again. What has puzzled me the most now was not sensing anything in the air while Bryson came to me the other time. Is it possible there’s someone playing these tricks on me? Based on my calculations and everything, I have guaranteed myself
"Andrew, what are you doing here?" A mixture of rage and surprise was what my voice was twisted in. I just couldn't understand what I was feeling but I wished that there was a way I flew from the face of this Earth and disappeared with my children to an unknown place.A place where no one would ever find us again."Nice to see you too." He smiled broadly as my kids came running into my arms."Nice kids you've got there although I presume that from what they told me, their father is no where close by." He started and I ignored him, wrapping my hands over my lovely children, Hazel and Hansel."How was school today my lovelies?" I asked totally ignoring Andrew as I placed a soft kiss on their forehead each."It was wonderful, we found dad." Hansel bursted out and my eyes widened in shock."What do you mean? Who told you that?" I questioned hurriedly while Sonia approached us knowing the gravity of the situation."He did. He told us that he was our father, he took us for.a treat and got u
KATHERINE He sneaks in and out, so subtly no one would know. Not even I when I decided to wake up at dawn, thinking I’d be able to catch any of his movement only to realize one of his cars is missing at the parking lot. He’s gone. The longer this takes, the more unbearable it gets for me. And worse, I can’t tell Bryson yet. Staring up at the sky helplessly, Derek’s growl echoed in my head once again, “I can’t catch your scent. Your nose could have been possibly playing a trick on youso please… do not talk about this anymore. There’s a very low possibility of us happening.” He had warned. “I’m back now to take care of you.” Marina was saying hours later but I pleaded with her with my eyes, and when she complied and stop speaking, I can’t help but sigh.I’ve been bottling up the urge to not tell anyone the recent occurrence between the hybrid and I but it’s as well harder keeping it all to myself with no one to share it with. Perhaps, I’d be able to get an advice out of it. I don’
