As I stood there, my head wiped to a side, I held my burning cheek and the tenderness was like touching an open wound.

My eyes welled up with tears and I could swear, I tasted the metallic tang of blood. I couldn’t look him in the eyes, not when the echoes of the slaps are still lingering in the air.

“Take her inside.” Those three words were all he said before he stepped aside, and his men rushed towards me, hovering around me like leeches.

“No! I need to see Marina. She left, I have to catch up with her!” I shrieked, struggling against their holds.

They bundled me back inside, with me unable to lift a finger.

“Open up! Get me out of here!” I slammed both fists against the door immediately after it was shut on my face. I continued and only stopped when my hands began to bleed.
