I kept my face neutral as if nothing happened as I sent Xavier off and walked back inside. But I didn’t expect to meet with king Derek on my way.

“Who was it?” He asked me.

I realized that instant he must have been watching. Did he see his face?

My mouth suddenly became heavy. What if he knows whom he is already and anything I say might contradict what he saw?

“Who?” I questioned and he glared at me. Dumb of me to answer his question with one of my own.

“Okay, the person at the gate?” I mumbled to no one but myself before sighing, “It was Xavier. I remember telling you I saw him around.”

I expected him to become more angry and make walk past me and abandon me on the spot but instead he began to move close toward me, not stopping until he’s had me backing the wall.

“D-did he hurt you?” He hesitated at first before rasping, his eyes looking deadly serious as both of his arms locked me in.
