Chapter Forty-Two

As everybody stood from their seats, I looked back to Soyoung and she was worried. I smiled at her as my reassurance that I was going to be okay. She nodded faintly before she left the room.

Once the doors were closed properly, Mr. Kim moved closer to me and lowered his voice, “How are you, Miss Ryuk? I hope the new rules didn’t terrify you.”

My lips folded into a firm line as I shrugged. “With all honesty, Mr. Kim, I was scared for a moment. I never expected that I would be seeing a firmer side of Mr. Nam that quickly. And I think the same goes for everybody else,” I explained.

“Well, Miss Ryuk, you’re not wrong about that. This is the first time that Mr. Nam went to great lengths to keep everyone in their places. Especially with what Miss Chun has done towards you,” he said.
