Chapter Forty-Three

I looked up to Aunt Yen and she gave me a gentle smile.

I returned to Yeonseok and asked, "Really? You must be very excited to go there."

Yeonseok nodded and replied, "It's been a while since I last stayed over with Granny Yen. She also said that our cousins will be there so it will be a fun sleepover."

"It surely will be," I nodded as I stood up slowly.

"Everybody, why don't you all wait for me in the minivan? I need to have a word with your Auntie Mingyu," Aunt Yen told the kids. And they followed without saying another word.

"You can't do this! This is against the law!" My head quickly turned to Mama's direction. Without any sense of decency, she protested non-stop against the ladies.

"Do you want to discuss the law, ma'am? Let us do so,"one of the ladies stepped closer to Mama.

Granny Yen's hand snaked around my arm, pulling me away gently from the front yard. We stood behind the minivan and she spoke in a low voice, "The women from the agency and your boss told me everything that
