Her breathing had steadied, but Kai’s hadn’t.Lucian was already moving, catching Kai before his head hit the floor. “Idiot,” he muttered, lowering him gently. “You always overdo it.”“He used too much energy,” Elias said softly, kneeling beside Lucian. His fingers brushed over Kai’s damp forehead. “He barely had anything left.”Dorian hovered like a stormcloud, eyes scanning Kai’s unconscious face. “He’ll be okay, right?”“He’s strong,” Lucian muttered. “Stupid, but strong.”Elias looked up at Dorian. “He saved her.”“Yeah, and almost killed himself in the process,” Dorian snapped, standing up suddenly. His jaw was tight, a rare burst of frustration breaking his usual calm. “I told him to stop throwing himself into danger like he’s invincible—”“You care about him,” Elias said, watching him.Dorian froze.
