Chapter 21 DAHLIA Listening to Sophia really opened my eyes to my foolishness. Her words opened my eyes to the stupid things I did all in the name of love. I used to be a hard working business woman who puts her business first. I used to work so hard that I get nosebleeds most times, but that never deterred me from working hard. After meeting Desmond, I kept working even harder, all until I got the news about how I couldn't get pregnant. But these were my past now, the past that will shape my future. My wrong decisions was beginning to hurt the people very close to me, first was my child, and now Sophia selling out herself just to bring me back to my senses. “I'll be leaving now, Dahlia.” She pulled me into a hug, picked up her bag and headed over to the door. “Sophia!” I called out right before she walked out the door. She turned around and looked at me, smiling. “I'm sorry,” I mumbled with my head bowed. “I'll get back the company and apologize properly,” I smiled at her.

Chapter 22 DAHLIA “Lastly, After your divorce, you'll go on ten dates with Mr. Knights. That's all.” I stayed silent for about a minute, just staring at the file. To make sure my ears weren't deceiving me. I mean, who gives out a multi million dollar company this way. I've heard of Helixx, in fact I don't think there is a single business person in Dralwood that hasn't heard of Helixx. The company was always closing deals with the Knights. And right now, I finally found the reason as to why they could easily access business contracts with the Knights. Ronan Knight owned it, wow! “How many hidden businesses does this man have?” At that moment, I realized he wasn't just a multi millionaire like the entire country thought. This man was a trillionaire or even much more than that. “Well, since he has this much, giving out just one company wouldn't hurt him,” I mumbled to myself. “I'll take the company,” I said aloud. And stretched out my hand for Blake to hand me a pen. He took a

Chapter 23 DAHLIA “That's apparently all there is to it, stop being delusional.” His words rang. His face was expressionless and every single word he uttered was cruel and unfiltered. His words were enough to snap me back to reality. “Just count every single thing I'm doing for you as the benefits of doing business with the Knights. Now, excuse me I've got somewhere important to be,” Ronan Knight rose from the couch, not sparing me a single glance, he walked out the door. I stared at the door he just walked out, wondering if I had indeed been delusional for thinking “THE RONAN KNIGHT” was interested in me. Shaking my head, I headed back upstairs in embarrassment. Getting there, the girls were gone, all that was left was the lady that pushed me out of the way and Blake. “I'll take the card,” I stretched out my hand to Blake. Ronan Knight already made it clear he didn't have an ounce of feeling for me, so taking the card doesn't make me anything like Desmond, rather it makes m

Chapter 24 DAHLIA I just couldn't believe Roselle was pregnant. Not only did she harm me, she even got pregnant for Desmond. It was just hard to digest. How could she? Roselle and I might not have the best relationship, but we weren't enemies. In fact we both used to get along up until we got separated by our parents’ divorce. I just couldn't understand the root of her hate for me that made her do something this despicable. I walked out of Helen's office, lost in thought. My phone ringing was all it took to snap me back to reality, I pulled it out from my bag and answered the call. It was Sophia. “What's up Soph?” I asked. “Listen Dahlia. I have news, Desmond doesn't plan on handing back the company to you…” she was speaking but I cut her off. “That's a pretty known fact…” “Allow me to finish Dahlia,” she hushed me “Sorry,” I mumbled and kept calm. “He doesn't plan to hand the company over to you until he finishes the project with the Knights. He wants to finish the project u

Chapter 25 DAHLIA I let Blake pull me out of the company and into the parking lot. Getting there, he let go of me, then I leaned onto the car laughing and clutching my stomach. “Did you see the flames in her eyes, that relationship is ruined,” I kept laughing. But Blake didn't seem to be having any of it. “I think it's best we leave. Your husband seemed like he wanted to throw you back to a hospital bed.” Blake pulled the car door open for me to get in, but hell no. I wasn't done. Knowing Desmond, once he calms Roselle, he would come looking for me. I mean I just revealed his affairs to his newest victim. Roselle might think Desmond is head over heels for her, but she is just a fool, her and my dad too. By the time Desmond and his family get what they want, what they are after and cast them aside, they'd be a subject of mockery. After Anita told me about Desmond and his family being fraudulent people. I put the pieces of chess together and figured it all out. My dad has a comp

Chapter 26 RONAN Dahlia is such a troublesome woman. Right from the day she stepped into my company with scribblings instead of a business proposal, I knew she was trouble. I had watched her cause a ruckus at the lobby. Her confidence made me feel like she had something to offer, that her business proposal would be top notch, but then it wasn't. I always trusted my guts, so I gave her another chance, merely to access her performance and she did impress me. After accidentally eavesdropping on her conversation with Sophia Elvis at the company's parking lot that day, her affairs became my business. “Ronan!” A familiar voice that stresses the hell out of me called out my name in a seemingly angry tone, pulling me out of my day dream. I looked up, it was my grandfather, I could feel my head beginning to ache already, the man was trouble personified. “Oh God,” I could only mumble. “Old man,” I called out, rising from my seat, I walked up to him. “You can leave,” I waved off his care

Chapter 27 DAHLIA My entire body was aching. It felt as if I fell from a high building. Groaning, I opened my eyes. The ray of light coming through an open window shun directly on my eyes, making me quickly close them. “You're finally awake,” Blake's familiar voice sounded. I shielded my face from the light and looked up to him. An artwork behind him caught my attention, making me glance around the room. It wasn't mine and it certainly didn't look like a hospital. “Where am I?” I asked Blake, then I tried to recollect how I ended up here. All I could recall was Ronan Knight carrying me out of the car. “How did I end up here? How long have I been sleeping for? Did my lawyer call me? Where is my phone?” I threw every single question I had at Blake. He rolled his eyes. “I'm Mr. Knight’s assistant, not yours. Figure those things out yourself. You've already stressed me enough.” He had a look of disdain as he said all this. I couldn't afford to argue with him, I needed to go se

Chapter 28 DAHLIA “Who the hell asked him to interfere! I never asked for his help. Why would he protect my oppressor!” I was so pissed off that I rose from my seat, ignoring Helen and headed out to find Ronan Knight. He might have been really helpful and saved my ass a lot of times, but then protecting someone that hurt me instantly renders every single thing he did for me useless. ”Mr. Knight doesn't need to be disturbed right now,” Blake, who I knew was sticking around and listening to my conversation with Helen, stopped me. “I don't care. I have to speak with him,” I protested. “Mr. Knight is working from home all because of you, yet you want to disturb him? Aren't you grateful? You're not even related to him or whatsoever yet he is housing, clothing, and feeding you. That man stayed up all night tending to your wounds and making sure you're okay. Yet, you want to go confront him over a minor inconvenience?” Blake didn't hide his disdain from me. “You're not differen

Chapter 29 DAHLIA “You have a bandage around your head, yet you're laughing at him?” Frank kept glaring at me, but that only made me want to laugh even more. “Yeah, but I can walk on my own,” I retorted. “He on the other hand,” I looked at Desmond, shook my head and tsked. “He wouldn't be able to for at least a week, if not two.” Desmond was seated on a wheelchair, his face completely distorted. He had a cast on his leg, a bandage on his head, multiple plasters. In fact he looked like he had gotten into a fight with thugs or probably got attacked by a wild beast. “You did this to him, you bitch. You sent those guys to beat him up!” Roselle suddenly appeared out of nowhere. She seemed to have had her own share of whatever happened to Desmond and was limping. She glared at me and pointed accusing fingers at me. I chuckled. “I wish I did it. But unfortunately, I'm too busy for this type of nonsense.” “You're walking in a unique style, what's up with your legs?” I raised a brow a

Chapter 30 DAHLIA (COURT ROOM) I had a look of distress. I was seated right next to Helen and had my hand on the bandages on my head, occasionally adjusting as if uncomfortable. Sonia was the first to begin to lay out claims. First she claimed I was responsible for Desmond's condition and even provided video evidence. “That's just a clip of him being beaten up. My client knows nothing of this!” Helen was quick to interject. But then, Sonia insisted it was all my doing. “Your honour, I have every reason to believe that Desmond Sterling paid thugs to beat him up inorder to put my client in a difficult position today,” Helen countered. “He has been abusing my client for years. She never retaliated all those years, she has no reason to retaliate now that it's finally over.” “Desmond never raised his hand on Dahlia. Not even once. Stop lying!” Roselle yelled from where she sat. I turned around, looked at her and smirked. “You lying bitch, you're pulling cheap stunts!”
