Chapter 30 DAHLIA (COURT ROOM) I had a look of distress. I was seated right next to Helen and had my hand on the bandages on my head, occasionally adjusting as if uncomfortable. Sonia was the first to begin to lay out claims. First she claimed I was responsible for Desmond's condition and even provided video evidence. “That's just a clip of him being beaten up. My client knows nothing of this!” Helen was quick to interject. But then, Sonia insisted it was all my doing. “Your honour, I have every reason to believe that Desmond Sterling paid thugs to beat him up inorder to put my client in a difficult position today,” Helen countered. “He has been abusing my client for years. She never retaliated all those years, she has no reason to retaliate now that it's finally over.” “Desmond never raised his hand on Dahlia. Not even once. Stop lying!” Roselle yelled from where she sat. I turned around, looked at her and smirked. “You lying bitch, you're pulling cheap stunts!”
Chapter 31 DAHLIA “Congratulations on your divorce.” Helen smiled at me as we walked out of the courtroom. I offered a smile in return. “It's all thanks to your effort and….” I tapped my bandaged head slightly, “of course, my injuries….” “You should thank Mr. Knight too. He made it all happen,” Helen lightly nudged my shoulders and gestured in Ronan Knight's direction. He was leaning on his car, his hands in his pocket with his eyes on me. I paused for a while, staring back at him. I expected him to break eye contact, but he didn't. Instead, he smiled at me. Nope, you didn't hear wrong. Ronan Knight smiled at me. Seeing his smile for the very first time gave me an unexplainable feeling. I suddenly felt giddy and my heart fluttered. I quickly looked away from him. Helen suddenly chucked. “You're attracted to him too. Give him a shot, he is definitely better than the jerk you just divorced.” I shook my head at her words. She got it all wrong, the feeling just now was just s
Chapter 32 RONAN I watched Dahlia beat up her sister from a distance. It filled me with immense satisfaction knowing she wasn't a weak woman but someone who could stand up for herself. Helen attempted to intervene and stop her but then one look from me was all it took for her to step aside. She instead blocked Dahlia from other people's view, to give room for her to deliver proper punches. When I felt she had hit her sister enough, I stepped in. Only because I didn't want her hand to hurt even a tiniest bit. I managed to calm her down, promising to help her get back at them. “Next time we cross paths, I won't just beat you up. I'll force that bastard out of your stomach. Stay off my path, Roselle,” Dahlia had told her sister before letting me lead her away. She was now seated next to me in my car as we drove to Helixx. She never said a word and had her focus out the window the entire time. Soon, I arrived at our destination and pulled up. I got out of the car and helped her out
Chapter 33 DAHLIA I wanted to protest. I didn't want Blake to drive me. The guy doesn't like me and I don't either. To be fair, his job is to assist Ronan, not drive me around. I'd definitely hate me if I were to be in his shoes. I called out to Ronan the moment he walked away and hurried over, intending to make him call back Blake. When he unexpectedly turned and made me lose balance. I didn't expect I'd fall into his arms. And worse he grabbed my boobs and ass. It was one awkward moment. I was supposed to be upset at this, but for some reason my face flushed and my stupid heart began to thud. I quickly pulled myself off his hold, nearly stumbling to the ground. Then I rushed into the car and slammed the door. “You just got divorced, Dahlia. These men are all the same!” I reminded myself multiple times. I took deep breaths to calm my thudding heart, while constantly reminding myself that relationships were a weakness. Love, family relationship, every single one of them was a
Chapter 34 DAHLIA I felt a little sense of satisfaction and accomplishment as I locked my house. Watching the Sterlings trying to cover their nudity was surely something I'd look forward to seeing again. After taking their clothes, I made the guys Ronan sent to rip them apart and then I locked the door. Threw them out on the streets and locked the gate. “They're shameless!” One of the neighbours shouted as I got out of the house. I never knew they paid attention to our affairs. But from the way they were throwing insults at the Sterlings and refusing to give them any sort of help, I realized they'd been pretty attentive to our lives. “That man didn't deserve you. I'm glad you got rid of him,” an old lady patted my back. “I'd usually watch him from my window with different women each day. But it wasn't in my place to tell. I'm happy you finally got rid of him and his despicable people,” Another, yet again commended me. What followed was the neighbours coming together and booing
Chapter 35 DAHLIA I spent the entire night going through the files Ronan gave me. The company was stable, and in perfect condition. The finances were great and I would say I'm impressed by their annual income. The company has everything I wanted to achieve with DAHL. Too bad I let stupid emotions come in my way. But now that I know better, I'll definitely attain this goal once Desmond hands over the company. When morning came, I dressed up and headed downstairs to meet Ronan. I found him in the dining hall having his meal. I took my seat right opposite him and began eating too. We never said a word to each other throughout the meal. But that didn't stop him from staring right at me like I had my dress inside out. “Quit staring at me, Mr. Knight. One might think you're suddenly interested in me,” I looked up at him. He chuckled. “What if I am?” “Did you forget what you said? We're in different leagues….I also have no interest in getting together with you or anyone else,” I flatly
Chapter 36 DAHLIA “I never signed any contract using DAHL. Desmond must have done it. Or maybe you…” I denied him on the spot. Classic of him to show up here, and try to use me. After betraying, and declaring I wasn't his daughter. “Dahlia, what are you saying? You got the contract,” Timothy insisted, pointing at me. I scoffed, and folded my arms under my breast. “The police will arrive here soon, and you'll be arrested for bribery. You should know I do not tolerate such,” Ronan stated, his aura blazing so much. The Ronan before me was nothing like the one I've been with these past weeks. He was cold, distant and scary. I instinctively took a step back from him. He seemed to notice my movement. He turned to me, offered me a gentle smile, then held my hand and pulled me back to my initial position. He let go without saying a word. I looked up at him and before I realized it, a smile graced my lips. “Such a gentleman,” my stupid mouth uttered. Ronan seemed to have heard my utte
Chapter 37 DAHLIA “My grandfather is at the manor right now. We should go greet him together,” Ronan said the moment he got out of the car. “What?” This was by no means what I was expecting to hear at that moment. Yes, we have an agreement. A signed contract but I never expected his old man to suddenly show up just a day after my divorce. “Let’s go,” he stretched out his hands towards me. I looked down at his hand, then shook my head. “I have to go visit my employees. I can’t forfeit that just to go entertain your grandfather,” I took a step back from him But then, he grabbed my arm and pulled me back. That was so unexpected that I fell into his arms, my head rested on his chest, then I looked up at him. His eyes were on me too. “You'll come with me to the manor, Dahlia,” his tone was calm, and hypnotizing. I found myself nodding to his words like a fool. “Words, Dahlia. You'll come with me, right?” He asked. I nodded, “Yes.” My eyes, still up at him. His gaze was
Chapter 107DAHLIA“You've always prioritised DAHL. DAHL is the only thing you've worked on that turned out successful, you'd do anything for DAHL. These were your words, not mine. What happened, Sophia? Why are you suddenly deciding to leave the company you sacrificed for?” I was taken aback by Sophia's sudden declaration of quitting.I mean she has always placed DAHL first even before herself.“I haven't been completely honest with you, Dahlia. But let's leave it at that. You can run DAHL on your own now, it's stable and functioning. We've saved the company from bankruptcy, you no longer need me here….”I tried to talk, to stop her from this madness. It all didn't make sense, last time we spoke, she was talking about Gavin Bright inviting us for a meeting and now this? Sophia has been with me right from the first day I started this company. When I backslide and handed DAHL to Desmond, she stayed to keep it from collapsing and now? She was suddenly quitting, no prior discussion, just
Chapter 106DAHLIA The sun rays hitting my eyes made me open them. Ronan and I had been so caught up last night that we slept without closing any of the windows. It was a blissful night, one I would never forget in a hurry. My hand reached to hold Ronan's, but his side of the bed was empty ... cold. Like he has been gone for a long time.I reached for my handbag on the nightstand, pulling out my phone and checking the time.“What the heck?” The words left my mouth upon seeing the time.It was past 9am and I was late for work. I raced out of bed, nearly tripping to the floor.“Shit. I'd have to go back to the manor to dress up.” I mumbled. It seemed like I'd end up arriving at work by noon.As I walked around the room, looking for my undies and clothes. The door was pushed open and Ronan walked in.“I already told Sophia you'll be coming in late today,” Ronan updated me, walking further into the room.I let out a little sigh of relief.“I should probably head back home now to get read
Chapter 105DAHLIARonan and I collapsed on the bed in exhaustion. We'd been going on and on for hours. At one point, I thought the bed was going to break, but it held on strong. Ronan filled me like no man has ever done. The way our bodies moved in sync. Him going in and out of me, me, grasping his hair. Moaning out his name. It was one of a kind and made me feel very special.I kissed Ronan's lips, deepening the kiss and roaming my tongue inside his mouth.“Easy there, we might end up going for another round,” he joked, pulling away from the kiss.I chuckled.“That'd be lovely.”Ronan paused, looking at me.“Aren't you exhausted? You're even panting….”“Yeah, but I'm still up for more rounds,” I winked at him.“Dahlia, you…” he shook his head, smiling and got out of the bed.I got out too, following him into the bathroom. There we had a hot bath. That didn't only involve bathing but some ass slapping and grinding too. By the time we finally got out of the bathroom, it was past midni
Chapter 104 BRANDON Ronan contacted me earlier today, asking me to drive Dahlia straight to his mansion. At first, I didn't understand why he said that, but when Blake showed up and explained everything to me, I understood perfectly. I expected him to call Dahlia and update her on this new development but he didn't. I on the other hand didn't want to do it for him. I didn't want to be the one to break the news to Dahlia and watch her heart shatter. I knew she has come to love the manor. The once liveless building Ronan had decorated like a cemetery was now so full of life, the living room was nothing like before. It was vibrant and looked even more rich now. Dahlia, suddenly leaving all these behind and moving to some new place with no explanation would annoy and stress her badly. She isn't just a kid that could be moved around. Even kids are informed when they're moving. Moments like this are when I detest Ronan. But seeing how much Dahlia loves him, I try to be supportive, find
Chapter 103 DAHLIA “If you step out of this room. Then this relationship is over. I'm done trying to make it work. Go on, Ronan. Leave, turn your back on me. I don't care anymore,” I said, my voice firm. Ronan, walking away after I put on all that drama to finally get the two of us together. To finally make time for us to talk was the final straw for me. Having to go to this extent to get his attention was exhausting and worse, he just wants to walk away “Let's walk away from each other's lives. If that is what you prefer ... .Let's get facts straight, you walked into my life first, and so I'll do the walking out. You forced yourself into my life, went out of your way for me, forced me into a marriage. And now what? You're outrightly ignoring me. I'm done.” I rose from the bed, pulling his shirt over my head, leaving me in just my camisole and undies. I looked around looking for where he dropped my blazer and pants but they were nowhere in sight. I turned to Ronan who was still
Chapter 102 DAHLIA “What?” I gazed wide-eyed at him. “I think you know exactly what I mean, Dahlia,” Brandon smiled. His smile wasn't like his usual friendly smile, it made me recoil and take steps backwards. He took a step towards me, that smile still on his face “Brandon? What are you doing? Take me back home right now!” I demanded He kept coming. “I'll scream!” I said with all seriousness. “We're in the middle of nowhere,” he countered. And that did it. I let out an ear piercing scream, one I was sure would be heard from miles away. Only then did Brandon take several steps backwards, raising his hands in surrender. “Mr. Knight is here. I know he has been avoiding you. He'll come out now if you keep screaming,” Brandon winked at me. I narrowed my eyes on him. He flashed me a smile. “I'm serious. You haven't been happy all day. I thought I could help.” “Thank you, Brandon,” I said, really grateful for his help. “But don't scare me like that again. I added a serious wa
Chapter 101 GAVIN “You did what?” Sophia yelled at the top of her voice, her fist clenched like she'd punch me if given the chance to. I took a step away from her. She covered the distance I just put between us. “Gavin, I thought better of you. Dahlia is your cousin for God's sake. You are supposed to be helping her recover, not making things worse!” “That's exactly what I'm doing, Sophia. Do not lecture me.” I love Sophia but during times like this, during times where we have misunderstandings. I absolutely detest being around her. “Really? Tell me how you're doing that. By trying to make her remember a conversation she has long forgotten. You gave her a freaking headache and what now? You decided to send her deranged step sister to her company. If that's your idea of helping her, then I have no idea what the hell I've been doing with you….” I turned, eyes widened and looked at her. “Really? You're going to pull our relationship into this? We've been together for over ten yea
Chapter 100 DAHLIA Walking back into my office, Blake followed closely behind me. “Did you by any chance inform Roselle about you owning this place?” Blake asked. I faced him, still offended by the stupid stunt he pulled minutes ago. “First of all, Blake. I run this place. You do not get to block my path. You do not get to decide who I see and who I don't. It's an absolute disrespect to me. I am your boss’ wife and trust me, I can be stricter than Ronan,” I warned. He nodded at my words, in what I consider fake understanding. Ronan must have put him up to this. Tell me what the assistant of a large conglomerate CEO was doing at my office at 11pm, the pique of work hours. “I understand. I apologize for how I acted. Believe me, it was all on reflex,” he bowed his head. I scoffed. “You're forgiven. Go and sin no more,” I made a lame joke for no apparent reason. Clearing my throat, I spoke again. “For your question. I have no reason to tell Roselle about Helixx. I also haven't
Chapter 99 DAHLIA “What the hell are you doing?” I narrowed my eyes at Blake, rising from my seat and approaching him. Blake said no words, instead, he further moved to block my view of the door even more. “Please, go take a seat,” I gestured at my seat, infuriating me. “What do you mean by that?” I didn't even give him the chance to respond, I shoved him aside, hurrying to the door. The moment I pushed it open, what welcomed me was Brandon pulling a lady away. “Stop,” I called out to him, my voice firm and strict. This was my company after all, these two men had no right to turn away my visitor no matter who it turns out to be. Brandon halted, I could see his fist clench but it didn't bother me one bit. He overstepped today and I was going to reprimand him for that later. I walked up to them, pulling Brandon's hold off the lady's arm. I turned her around to look at me – Roselle. My eyes met that of my assistant who was still standing by the side, confusion evident in he
