“What the hell?” Asher mutters then stands, about to head to the door when I grab his arm. He blinks at me, surprised to see me in the room then blinks again as if he remembers how he got here. “Where are you going?” I ask. “What do you mean? I’m going to stop them and get an explanation from her.” “Really? You think that’ll work?” I ask with a raised brow. “Why?” “She’s the Luna, a very important person to the alpha, she’s even above you in rank. Sneaking into the residence of the alpha/luna has become easy for me, especially with the hidden tunnels and rooms. All I have to do is to keep to the shadows, watch and wait. The guard-wolves patrolling the residence don’t really take their jobs seriously (especially with the security heavier on the pack borders) so it’s easy to sneak into the back of the residence and to the back of the kitchen. I slip into one of the hidden tunnels and make my way to Liana’s office room to deliver her gift.There’s no one in the room, so I sneak in, leave the letter on her desk and leave through the hidden door in her room. I’m on my way out of the residence when I hear voices. It’s almost one in the morning, who could it be? I follow the voices and trace it to the hall of the elders. I peek through the door and see that there’s a meeting going on. Everyone is there except for Liana. Even Ramsey is there as well.“How can we have no leads to what has been happening?” Derek says, sounding frustrated

“Breathe.” I chant over and over in my head as I stagger out of the residence of the alpha/luna and into the cool night air. I gulp it down greedily until the air is enough for me to be okay again. “Are you okay?” “I’m fine, Ida.” I slip out of the residence and walk in the shadows, still enjoying the cool breeze of the night. “Do you want to go for a run, Ida?” “Always.” I pull my hoodie around my face and head for the border of the pack.“What do you want?” A guard-wolf asks me. “I’m just going out for a run.” I say with a small smile on my face. “It’s too early for a run. Run within the pack.” He says, dismissing me. “You just said it, it is too early. I can’t run without making some kind of noise and disturbing those sleeping, can I?” I say, starting to feel annoyed. I am still staring at Asher when a maid walks up to me. “There’s going to be a party at Elder Muriel’s house. The alpha, Luna and Beta will be there so he has requested that some kitchen staff be present to cater to the party.” “Okay.” “Someone signed you up so we’ll be working overtime to prepare for the party.” Of course they did sign me up. I sigh. “Is it really a good idea that I go? That night, I end up feeling grateful to whoever signed me up to work at this party. It’s so busy that I don’t have time to think about anything except food and drink orders and seating arrangements. I run away from Elder Muriel’s house with uncertainty in my heart and confusing tears in my eyes. I didn’t want to feel this way for Asher or for anybody but the truth was that I was falling for him and it confused me because I didn’t know what to do with my feelings. As I walk, I wrap my arms around myself and go without really having a destination in mind. When I look up, I find myself at the gate to the entrance of the residence of the alpha/luna.“What are you doing here?” A guard-wolf asks me. “I work in the kitchen, I forgot something really important inside.” He grunts and opens the door for me. “Don’t be long.” I smile my thanks and enter, heading towards the kitchen. When I see that no one is around, I slip into the secret tunnel that leads to a room in the Luna’s side of the house. One of the doors lead me to Liana’s bedroom.
