I run away from Elder Muriel’s house with uncertainty in my heart and confusing tears in my eyes. Ida is only able to attack Asher because we caught him unaware and unready, she knows this and is using it fully to her advantage. Ida is able to inflict more wounds to his chest before he is able to push her off and scramble to his feet. I see three deep gashes on his chest and blood pours out like a tap, staining his trousers and leaking onto my floor. The sight of his blood makes Ida giddy and she launches herself at him again. “What?” Asher gawks at me with his lips parted in surprise. I pull him closer to me and he finally breaks out of his surprise when our lips meet in a tangle of messy, deep kisses.
