Chapter 41

Ellie ‘I want to wake up with you in our home, in the bed that we share. I want to walk down the street with you so that everyone knows that you're mine and I am yours. Let's live till eternity with each other.’ These were the words of Eamonn three nights before I fell into the endless pit of my misery. As at then, I felt the love I received from Eamonn as unconditional.Unsoliciting.Unchanging.Compromising.Eternal.But once consciousness crept into the numb body, I knew I was dead wrong. Maybe all his handwritten poems were all lies.Yes, that was how much I thought he loved me. After each training session, he would read me his handwritten poems and proclaim his undying love to me. He had written many others that I can't clearly remember them line by line. That was why, despite his unscrupulous behavior, I still felt there was still the gooey part of him that I'd always loved. That gooey part of him that I thought he had died a long time ago. But it was too late for me to realize

Chapter 42

Van «««Early hours in the morning, break of dawn»»»“You should have left her lifeless.” Gira spoke sadly, exhaling softly.“Are you here to judge me or help me out, Gira?” Although he couldn't tell me how much of a disappointment I was to him and the rest of the Royalties because I was superior to him, I could see it in his stance. His shoulders slumped. Not from the weight of the alcohol, but from the pretty exhausting story I laid out to him. He leaned forward; his knees supported his elbows. He lowered his head. “I've got a plan.” He said I'm in a low tone.“Speak, please.” I stared at my feet, the rug, which I had ruined because I couldn't hold back my riling emotions that welled up from within me.“First off, we need to make our kill smooth and well plotted. We need to leave no trace of the murder case. No one from within the coven and beyond should know about this.” My raven cawed from a distance in the room, and a thought yielded, “How about we send a message to her, just a

Chapter 43

Van“I know that. I'm here for you to finish what you started. You don't expect me to tremble over your words, do you?” I tilt my head to the side, sizing the young wolf—hybrid, she's got nice curves. Beautiful. Courageous. She's a recipe for danger. Her own danger.“Y'know, I admire your courage to speak so…rude.” I laid it out in a low tone, I hung my bottom lip between my teeth. I didn't miss that she stole a glance.“I find your tactlessness hot as well, Jumpy eyes.” I watched her rub something that outlined in her pocket. She bears a knife with her. Quite impressive. “Anyways,” I shove my disapproving thoughts out of my mind, “I know you've waited a long time to be in the presence of the Vampire King, have a proper conversation with him. So here's your chance. Ask me. Anything?” I took a sip out of the cinnamon tea that had a bland taste on my tongue. The cup clunk as it settled down on the little tray. From the look of things, the display on her face shows nothing but worries

Chapter 44

Eamonn Night was quick to crawl in. I watched the fire I had set a few minutes ago crackle, but the warmth did nothing to warm up my cold, restless soul. I sat on a huge log lying at the feet of a tall tree a few distance away from the Pack House. I needed a safe space for an alone time to think about my resolved problem and my continuous torment. And it has been impossible to do that in the fortress I call the Pack house which I built brick by brick till it became one of the most magnificent buildings here in Shirlon. I had just returned from taking a run down a small wood around the Pack but still it did nothing. I picked up a twig between my bare feet, broke it into and threw the half part into the fire.“Alpha,”Without turning to look who it was that called me, I rolled my eyes and sighed at the familiar voice intruding on my personal space. Brant stumped his boots on my ground as he approached me from behind, not only disturbing my peace, but the serenity of the quiet night.“S

Chapter 45

Ellie Van's touch is so deliberate like he was trying to learn my body, and I'm astonished how a learner could be. Everything, from the way he spoke to the way he looked me deep into my eyes, from the way his hands slid down my shoulders to the way he worked them on my buttons. All screaming possessiveness. This was someone who knew nothing about me. We both crossed paths when I was five, and two weeks earlier, when he showed up as a wrecking ball. One annoying thing about the whole thing is that it was actually a casual touch. Nothing too gratifying about it.I had no right to feel the way I felt right but this was King Vanchure we are talking about. There's nothing that comes out of the ordinary when it comes to him. His touch stirred something deep and highly disapproving within my soul. Something that has dues a long time ago, even while I was with Eamonn. And I do not feel this way because I'm being starved of man's touch. I've had Eamonn touch me in different ways that could

Chapter 46

Ellie The dim lights from the candles placed at corners on the wall of the ghostly art gallery, casted long shadows on the wall around them. An invisible ball of darkness hung in the air between Van and I. The paintings on the wall appeared gloomy and twisted with a depiction of unforgotten memories. The silence present in the room was accompanied by the occasional creaking of old floorboards beneath our feet.King Vanchure sat with back hunched and his gaze on his bare feet, though his golden eyes betrayed any hint of something raw. He was shirtless, his occasional movement flexed a bit of his arm and back muscles. The candle lights reflected under his pale skin, a mixture of darkness and a lighter hue. The part of his neck at which he tore open had sealed up like there wasn't even a dent. Like that there was no scratch at all. He had used his shirts to wipe the blood on his chest and where his blood stained mine, away. I sat on the edge of the bench finally—just as he had wanted. I

Chapter 47

VanI made it a part of tonight's event to explain to her the reason why I would have to end her. I like to point out the reasons as to why I'll have to resort to murder before taking any fatal action. We returned to silence, which left her to dwell more on what I had said. There was a wine chamber at the left corner of the hall. There was wine stationed—stocked in the places I considered private. Where there was Vanchure, there was wine. While we sat in silence, I made my way to go get a bottle of wine and two wine glasses. Let us switch up to a little drinking fest before we proceed with her annihilation. I was in a better position to drink anything as I had grown insatiable to what I usually feed on.No, scratch the part where I said insatiable. Insatiable was when one fed and still wasn't satisfied. In my current state, I had no hunger for what I usually fed on. The wine was always there to serve as a reminder of what it felt like to drink from a sweet essence. I wove off the rem

Chapter 48

BrantSilence stretched between us like a thick blanket. Wide and suffocating. I could hear the wind moving through the grass and rustling through the trees that guarded us at the edge of the field.Eamonn's expression was unread when I materialized behind him. It was clear that my presence was dimmed as a disturbance, unappreciated. I knew the times when he was approachable and the times when he wasn't. I knew the times when he would respond nicely to the Pack members when he walked past them and the times when he would act cold towards them, and be unresponsive to their greetings when he walked past them. I knew the happy and the loomy days of Eamonn's, but later it has been more of the loomy days than the happy. So I decided to make whatever time I had to bring the matter to his feet since he'd refused to look into it by himself. I've been shouldering the weight of being the Beta and the Alpha at the same time for weeks now, and the weight is really hard to bear. No matter how I t

Chapter 49

Ellie The blood of the Soldiers was forbidden to the Royalties. If anything, it was just as lethal as our bites. It was not a rule but it is against our nature. We were both poisonous to each other. Our natures were considered too conflicting, our essence was too powerful. I was a mixture of the two lethal bloods. Supernaturally and magically so.But that ideal knowledge about us was untrue. I had clearly defied the law and order of our nature, being the first hybrid in Shirlon. And as I struck the deal with the vampire king, I could plainly see it in his eyes. The hunger. The craving. He even went as far as accepting the deal I had laid out, just to taste my blood on his tongue. I like that he was selfish with his emotions and I'm glad to be the benefactor amongst us. I would get to live—not like my life meant anything, but I would like to live a little while in this hybrid nature. Let me see how far I would become. Let me see if my destiny will be rewritten.I'm trusting my inst

Chapter 50

Ellie The wind blew harshly, I'm lucky to have tied my hair in a bun. It caused the trees to rustle the trees that were surrounding us. The thick air smelled of wet earth. The wide ocean stretched endlessly before me. Its surface wavered under the looming light of the man. I could hear the waves crashing against the rough rocks below the steady and rhythmic roar echoed in my chestI wrapped my arms around myself not because I was shivering, it wasn't from the effects of the cool wind, but it was because of the uneasiness that grew in my gut.“Van, Why here?” I asked, turning to face him. My voice was much after than I intended, my uncertainty was evident in every word. He stood a few feet away from me, his hands were stuffed in his pockets, his sharp features were unreadable as the silver rays of the moonlight casted on him.The man who I had drank of his essence and he, mine. The ferocious man whom I had somehow managed to escape his kill trap by flaunting that which I knew he coul
