CHAPTER 31

CHAPTER THIRTY ONE DAMON Point of View I trudged back to my chambers, feeling defeated. Tyla's rejection still stung, and I couldn't stop feeling like I'd blown my chance with her. I flopped onto my bed, staring up at the ceiling. Why couldn't she just give me a chance? I knew I'd messed up in the past, but I was willing to do whatever it took to make it right. As I lay there, my eyelids began to droop. I let out a deep sigh and closed my eyes, letting sleep take control of me. But my rest was fitful. I dreamed of Annie, my former mate. We were standing in a lush meadow, surrounded by wildflowers. She was smiling at me, her eyes shining with love. I reached out to her, but she slipped away, disappearing into thin air. I tried to follow her, but my legs felt heavy, like they were rooted to the spot. I called out to her, but she didn't respond. The meadow began to fade away, replaced by a dark, foreboding forest. I was running through the trees, chasing after Annie. But she was always

CHAPTER 32

CHAPTER THIRTY TWO JONATHAN Point of View I stormed into Tyla's room, my anger my heart beating fast from anger. I had just found out that she secretly met with Damon in Jessica's room, and I couldn't believe her betrayal. I knocked on her door and patiently waited for her to open up. I knew she was in because the maid who informed me about her meeting. Damon also informed me that she had just returned to her room. When she didn't answer to the door at first, I banged at the door again. The door opened slightly, and before she could say anything, I pushed my way into her room. "So, I hear you went to meet Damon in Jessica's room," I growled, my eyes narrowing as I glared at her. Tyla stood her ground, her eyes flashing with defiance. "I did," she replied, her voice steady. She replied so confidently like she didn't do anything wrong, and it pissed me off even more than the fact that she met with her supposed mate in secret. In as much as I wanted to applaud her for her admission, I

CHAPTER THIRTY THREE TYLA Point of View I thought I was going to die. Jonathan's grip on my throat was tightening, and I couldn't breathe. I tried to struggle, but he was too strong. Just as all hope seemed lost, Jessica walked into the room. She didn't hesitate. she didn't even seem to notice Jonathan's fury. She just walked up behind him and hit him with something. I didn't see what at first, but it was hard enough to send him crashing to the floor. I stumbled backwards, gasping for air. Jessica rushed to my side and wrapped her arms around me, holding me close. I hugged her back, still in shock. "Jessica, oh my god," I whispered, tears streaming down my face. "Thank you." "It's fine, Tyla. You've saved me from him a thousand times as well." It was when Jessica helped me up that I noticed the broken wooden chair on the floor. That was when I realised what he hit Jonathan with. It made me chuckle lightly. Jessica led me to her room, helping me onto the bed. I lay down, still shakin

CHAPTER 34

CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR TYLA Point of View I followed the messenger out of the room, Jessica by my side. We walked in silence. I could already guess what this meeting would be about. When I stole glances at Jessica, I noticed her fear as well. It seemed like she also had it figured out. Yet, none of us said anything about it. I could not believe that I had been reduced to this. In a pack that I once ruled with iron fist. As we entered the throne room, I saw the elders seated at the front. Jonathan was seated gracefully on his throne. I didn't know why I suddenly felt anger seething through my veins when I set my eyes on him. I wished that he had died back in his room. Even though I scared me what the elders would do to Jessica and I, I was still ready to face killing him, then argue about just the attempt to kill him. Jonathan turned to me, his eyes locked onto mine, a mixture of anger and frustration burning in them. The elders nodded at us to take our seats. Jessica and I exchanged a

CHAPTER 35

CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE JONATHAN Point of View I sat in my chambers, sipping a glass of wine, feeling like I was on top of the world. I had finally succeeded in turning the elders against Tyla and Jessica, making them see my wives as the disobedient and ungrateful ones. I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. I had manipulated the situation perfectly, and now I had the upper hand. I had achieved one more thing, and I needed to mark it on my book of achievement. Reporting first made me the victim, and Tyla and Jessica, the villain. The perfect story I had mapped out was something else that gave me upper hand in the situation. It was late in the evening, and I had not done any other thing aside from celebrating. I started my celebration after I left the meeting room, but decided to spice it up with wine this evening. But my celebration was short-lived. Suddenly, there was a loud explosion in the distance, followed by the sound of alarms blaring and people shouting. My eyes widen

CHAPTER 36

CHAPTER THIRTY SIX JESSICA Point of View Jay followed behind me as we headed to the meeting room. I felt his hands on my waist and quickly knocked them out. "Come over here," Jay gestured to the seat at the corner of the room. I hesitated when Jay gestured for me to sit beside him. I was scared, and I didn't want to raise any suspicions. "Come sit here," Jay whispered, his eyes locked on mine. But I shook my head, trying to appear nonchalant. "I'm fine where I am," I whispered back. Jay raised an eyebrow, but I could see the understanding in his eyes. He knew why I was being cautious. "It's okay, nobody will notice," Jay said, his voice barely audible over the sound of Jonathan's voice. But I knew better. If I sat too close to Jay, Jonathan might notice. And if he did, it would be disastrous. "I don't want any issues," I whispered firmly, trying to convey the seriousness of the situation. Jay nodded, but I could see the disappointment in his eyes. He knew I was right, but it didn't

CHAPTER 37

CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN DAMON Point of View Two days had passed since the attack on my pack, and I was no closer to finding out who was responsible. The frustration was eating away at me, making it hard to sleep and even harder to focus. But it wasn't just the attack that was troubling me. It was the constant dreams. Every night, I'd close my eyes and see Annie's face. She was already a part of my past, and I could not understand why she kept appearing in my future. I didn't understand why she was haunting my dreams. Hadn't I suffered enough? Hadn't I paid enough? And yet, every night, she'd appear, her eyes sad and her voice whispering my name. It was like she was trying to tell me something, but I had no idea what. I was torn. Part of me wanted to hold on to the memories of Annie to keep her alive in my heart. But another part of me knew I had to move on. I had a new mate now, one who deserved my love and attention. Even though Tyla had not accepted me yet, I was ready to do anything

CHAPTER 38

CHAPTER THIRTY EIGHT JESSICA Point of View I made my way to Jay's room almost immediately after the meeting. I had returned to my room when the meeting ended and waited for everyone to go back to their resting places before sneaking to Jay's room. I knocked softly on the door, my eyes scanning the corridors for any sign of a human. As soon as he opened the door, I slipped inside and closed it behind me. "We need to talk," I demanded, folding my arms around my breast. Jay raised an eyebrow, but he didn't say anything. He just waited for me to continue. "What you did in the meeting room...," I started, trying to choose my words carefully. "You can't do that again. I don't even want it to repeat." Jay's expression changed. His raised curious brow suddenly lowered in a mischievous glint. "You didn't enjoy it?" he asked as he moved closer to me. "Tell me you didn't enjoy it, Jessica, I dare you!" I felt a flush rise to my cheeks. "That's not the point," I said, trying to keep my cool. "T

CHAPTER 39

CHAPTER THIRTY NINE JAY Point of View I groaned inwardly as I heard the knock on the door. I was right in the middle of this already with Jessica, and I didn't want to stop. I was already hard. I just wanted to go down with her, and devour her like never before. This was just the wrongest time to have anyone knocking at my door. I wished that I didn't have to answer the door. Maybe I should just leave whoever was outside the door to keep knocking forever. But I knew I had to answer the door, especially since the knocking didn't stop after the first knock. I reluctantly got out of bed and made my way to the entrance, hoping that whoever it was would make it quick. As I opened the door, I was surprised to see Sara standing there. She was the daughter of one of the gamma's in the pack, and I hadn't seen her in a while. "What do you want, Sara?" I asked gruffly, trying to hide my frustration. Sara's face scrunched up in a frown, and I could tell she was taken aback by my tone. "Hey, Jay

CHAPTER 40

CHAPTER FORTY NARRATOR Sara was suspicious when Jay refused to let her into his room. She was aware that he was not only trying to stop her because he didn't want to see her. It was because he didn't want her to enter his room. She decided to trick him, since she was hell bent on finding out what Jay was hiding. As she burst into Jay's room, her eyes scanned the space with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. The realization that Jay was ready to speak to her in her room and not his room had sparked her curiosity, and she was determined to uncover what Jay was hiding. Sara's gaze swept across the room, taking in every detail. She searched for any sign of what Jay might be concealing but found nothing out of the ordinary. The room was tidy, with no visible signs of disarray or secrecy. As she turned back to face Jay, she noticed that he was still standing by the door, his eyes fixed on her with a mixture of wariness and caution. "Jay?" she called out her eyes still facing the door.
