Hurt so badly

Saint entered the shower a few moments later, grabbing the shampoo to lather my hair. Eryx joined us, and they worked together, silently cleaning my battered body. Saint pulled me against him, turning me toward Eryx, who peered down at my body with a murderous look dancing in his gaze. "We find Lucas, and we return what he did to her tenfold, Saint," he growled, his midnight gaze sliding up to meet mine. "Agreed," Saint whispered, holding me carefully as Eryx used a soft cloth towash my body. They worked like they'd done this before, helping one another to ease the pain. My eyes closed against the dark blotches swimming in my vision.I gasped, screaming as Eryx washed between my thighs. Air refused to reach my lungs as I fought against him cleaning my sex, riddled in shallow cuts. His jaw clenched, and pain filled his eyes."She may have internal damage," Eryx admitted.Saint's hands tightened around my chest, and his lips brushed against my shoulder. He was prepared to subdue me if

You can't escape me

"Fuck off, demon. She's not yours to toy with and in no condition to deal with your games," Saint grunted, settling beside me in nothing more than a pair of loose-fitting shorts. "Inhale," he ordered, holding the joint to my lips. I licked my chapped, blood-covered lips, and he sighed, nodding to the men leaning against the wall, silently watching us. "She needs water, more blood, and that fucker's head. In that order, gentlemen." "I'll grab water," Phenrys announced, pushing off the wall."I'll get more blood," Bowen snorted, following him out of the room."I'll help Ezekiel convince Cole Van Helsing that we need his assistance to go hunting. Lucas couldn't have made it too far off this mountain," Sian stated, nodding toward Ezekiel, who continued staring at me."You're in agony, yet you don't make a sound. You are either very good at hiding the pain, or you've had lots of time to master it, little girl. How much pain have you known in your lifetime to hide that emotion from your pre

Escape plans

It took days to fully heal from my injuries, even with copious amounts of vampire blood that had been fed to me intravenously. During that time, Saint had hovered. He'd been inside the room with me, trying to force conversation, which I'd ignored for the most part. There was a certain freedom in knowing someone else was taking care of the pack and that it wasn't up to me to oversee it all anymore. On the fifth day of being on bed rest, Saint finally slipped out of the room to deal with a disturbance. It left me alone for the first time since he'd shown up here and ruined my plans. Slipping into the closet, I dressed into a soft pair of jeans and a cashmere top.I slid my feet into a pair of knee-high leather boots and stepped out of the bedroom, peering up at Xavier, who leaned against the wall with his phone in his hand. He pushed it into his pocket the moment he noticed me."How are you feeling?" His kind, blue eyes met and held my stare. "Fine," I said sharply as his mouth tipped i

Killing fields

"Monsters can hide in plain sight, with no one suspecting what lies beneath the surface. The world is filled with them, and most are human. Lucas was always a monster, but he hid it behind kind eyes and smiles. It was my job to find the demons and drive them out, and I failed. Maybe I deserved what I had endured since I'd failed the pack in spotting the monster within our midst. My father never hid the sinister nature he wore like a cloak around him. The pack was always wary of him, but they stayed because of me. Because of my legacy and the bloodline that I hold." Guilt washing over me that I was held in a prison of my own making. Not me, per second, but the blood rushing through my veins drove Fenrir wolves to our gates, where they'd become my responsibility to protect."It isn't your fault, Braelyn. What happened to you down there-it shouldn't have happened to anyone. Ever. Saint is coming. I'll call Douglas and secure passage. You figure out how to lose your guards." Tora's eyes f

So hurt and in pain

It was a weird feeling not to work with the pack from sunrise to sundown. Instead, I stood on the balcony that looked out over the countryside. My room was one of the few that had a balcony with a view of the sprawling mountain range.Snow blanketed the peak, indicating that the entire mountain would soon be covered in the soft, icy grip of winter's mercy. Much like Saint, it was without sympathy, making roadways impassable, cutting the pack off from the outside world. The icy wind bit into my naked arms, sending my hair whipping against my face while I watched the sun setting behind the highest mountain. The thin gown I wore did little to keep the chill from settling in my bones, but I wel- comed the cold that burned my face, leaving it red from the freezing air.Already the pack was behind schedule, running around without no one leading them. The alphas had ignored Toralei's guidance, and even from the front balcony, I could discern that the lumber they'd accepted wasn't weathered o
