Thirty-One - Vanadine

Returning to Tommy’s house with the supplies the bomb maker had asked for, Vanadine found the wreck of a man mixing something that looked a lot like wet rice in a bucket. The stench of petrol filled the room and Vanadine’s nose wrinkled at the smell.“Ah, excellent,” Tommy said as he looked at the items Vanadine had brought. “You got the cash too?”Vanadine threw a wad of notes on the bench beside Tommy, held in a roll with a rubber band and handed him the bags he had brought back.“What do you need all this for?” Vanadine asked as Tommy opened the pair of mobile phones Vanadine had bought.Tommy stared at him as if he was an infant, his eyes larger than they should be through the glasses he wore.“Your bomb?” He asked as if this should be obvious. “Ooh, coffee!”Vanadine handed him the cup and sipped at his own, feeling the hot liquid flow down into his stomach,Last time I had coffee I was with her. He thought as anguish grabbed his chest. Anger fought with sadness as thoughts of Ca

She could feel Marrin trying to pull her through the door but her hand refused to enter. It had connected with the wood and stopped utterly. Her hand turned white where she shoved against the unforgiving wood, despair spurring her on.I’ve got to get out of here. I have to!Roughly dragging Marrin back through the door, Carine grabbed her hand, squeezing it tightly until the girl winced.“It’s because I wasn’t touching your skin!” Carine declared. “I was touching your clothes so it didn’t work!”“And it will not work now,” Marrin said sadly. “You are hurting me,” she added in a small voice.Yet Carine did not care or even hear her fully, obsession with her plan working overriding everything else. Now I can leave! Thirty-Three - Vanadine

A wave of hot pressure exploded from the thin a few seconds after he kicked the suitcase into it. The wave knocked Vanadine back a few feet, scorching his face with the intense heat. He landed on his ass and stared at the thin, his eyes picking out the strange wobble in the air as it shimmered in place.Hope it’s still okay. Vanadine thought as he threw himself at the phenomenon, hoping the other end was still intact. At the end of his endless fall through the thin, Vanadine’s feet hit the ground in Elaris and he rolled once before standing and turning to see the devastation Tommy’s bomb had wrought. The grass had been ripped and burned away in a semicircle from the edge of the thin leaving bare, blackened earth. After that the stems that did remain were flattened and singed. A three foot deep crater had been blasted from the ground where the bomb had gone off, throwing soil and grass up and out in all directions. The blast had carved a ragged circle in the landscape with the exceptio

Thirty-Four - Carine

The scream tore from her throat as she leaped from the bed, stabbing at it with the poker she gripped so tightly her knuckles were white. Nothing happened, no one cried out and there was no blood. Adnanter was not there.Breathing hard and chest tight with overwhelming panic, Carine stepped back, falling against the cold stone wall and sliding down its rough surface. As her ass hit the floor, tears started streaming down her face and she clasped the poker to her as if it was her only lifeline.A dream. It was just a dream. She tried to tell herself as tremors shook her body. The lingering effects of the horrific dream were causing physical effects and Carine tried to calm herself as she sat there. It was him at first. She thought. Vanadine had come to me. It was his hands, his touch and his kisses. I know it, I felt it. Thirty-Five - Vanadine

“Cash, now!” The large elf before him grunted. The trio had surrounded him on a desolate stretch of street, the light from the few surrounding buildings and the stars overhead the only illumination. With Vanadine’s superior vision, however, he was able to see perfectly. Sadly, he knew, so could his attackers.“I haven’t got time for this,” Vanadine stated flatly.“Then pay and leave,” the elf said. The same height as Vanadine and almost as bulky, the elf looked fairly well fed and cared for, his clothing was relatively clean and looked after, patched here and there but serviceable. Long, straight hair fell from his head, around his shoulders and down his back. He had managed to find and wear a few pieces of armour, scabby looking pieces of hard leather that had not managed to save his face from what must have been a savage cut. Ragged and raw, the scar ran from just below his right eye, down his cheek and curled beneath his jaw. His eyes glinted from beneath his brows, their colour lo

Thirty-Six - Carine

“In such a case,” Adnanter stated quietly, answering her threat to kill an unborn hybrid if they forced one on her. “You will be bound in the darkness, force fed and the child ripped from you at term.”The chill that had gripped Carine at his entrance doubled at these words and every soothing, calming effect the bath had had was gone in an instant. Tremors shook her body as the water in the towel chilled, bringing her temperature down. Yet the cold from Adnanter’s words was far more chilling.“There is no need for your time here to be unpleasant, Carine,” the elf went on. “It can be as painful or as comfortable as you decide. Comply with us, submit to me and I assure you will never be touched by anyone but me.”“Give in!?” Carine spat, hate fuelling her words. “Submit to you? I’d rather a hundred others rape me than feel the dead flesh that covers your bones!” She vomited the words at him before her brain was able to stop her and she saw a flash of anger cross his face as he stared at

Thirty-Seven - Vanadine

Panic grabbed Vanadine’s chest as his left hand fell from the pavement. He hung by his right for a few seconds before his fingers gave out and he was scrabbling for purchase, fingers ripping at the soil and rock as he picked up speed falling down the almost vertical surface. All thoughts fell from his mind as his brain focussed entirely on stopping him from certain death. There was nothing to grab, nothing to catch hold of and he felt the phantom of death hovering at his shoulder. The drop would be over soon, the impact sudden and his death brief, leaving his broken body for the scavengers.Somehow Vanadine managed to retain enough sense to drag the machete clear and plunge it into the side of the crater. His shoulders wrenched painfully as his fall was halted abruptly, both hands wrapped around the handle. Vanadine hung there panting hard and trying to will his terror and panic away. He opened his eyes and waited for his vision to adjust to the almost complete blackness. Little light

Chapter Thirty-Eight - Carine

Her body hit the wall with a loud slap, pain exploding from where her face and breasts slammed into the stone. But no pain from where the poker’s speared through me?Carine had no idea what dying was like but had heard people had been stabbed and not felt much as the adrenaline numbed the shock. Even so, she thought there would be some kind of pain or discomfort, difficulty breathing or weakness from blood loss. Yet Carine felt none of these, just pain from where she had run into a solid wall and the chill from the stone she was pressed against. She allowed her eyes to flutter open, looking down to see her chest was intact, nothing had pierced her and the poker was gone. Shock spiked inside her and a squeak left her mouth when she saw Marrin with one arm buried in the wall.“What?” She asked dumbly.“I stopped you,” Marrin said in a dark tone.“Fucking why?!” Carine demanded in misery and anguish. She slid down the wall to land in a naked puddle, uncaring at her condition. That’s beco

Thirty-Nine - Vanadine

Heart racing, Vanadine sought the source of the growl, eventually picking out a shape in the gloom. The shadow of the citadel hid a great deal but enough light penetrated to allow him to see the creature that was stalking him. The syphia was one of the largest Vanadine had ever seen, roughly equivalent in height to a pony on Earth. Muscles rippled beneath its sleek, black and white fur and teeth peeled back from inch long fangs that would meet and cross in a scissoring action, rending flesh with ease. Eyes the colour of midnight skies regarded him with dispassionate hatred.Slowly, Vanadine drew the machete, letting it hang from his side in his right hand. With his left he prepared the magic that would bring fire if needed, channelling the power of Elaris up through his body and into his flesh. His skin tingled with the pressure of it and he knew from experience he would have to release it soon or risk it hurting him.Stay calm, non-threatening and it might let you go. His mind said.

Forty - Carine

Something frozen wrapped a grip round her lungs and squeezed as she stood close to Marrin. The voice had been loud, authoritative and commanding, halting both of them immediately. Carine could feel her heart beating, her body trembling and hear her lungs pumping as she stood there, waiting to be captured, tortured and raped. The form that crossed to them, however, was not an elf but a shorter creature, with long, orange hair and horns jutting from its forehead.Carine risked a glance as it spoke to Marrin, seeing the horns were fairly short and stubby, it had huge, round eyes, like a tarsier but in the deepest ocean blue Carine had ever seen. Light brown skin covered what was not covered and it wore simple clothing in similar tones to what she had on.“Marrin, my sweet,” he said, his voice deep. “Who might this be?” He asked, looking at Carine.“New girl,” Marrin said shortly, rolling her eyes. “I do not know what I have done to be punished like this but I have been dumped with her,”
