Chapter Ten

Have you ever imagined being in a gladiator ring and having to fight to death before the very eyes of blood thirsty Romans? The Spartacus movie gave a clear depiction of what that felt like, but I'm sure no one has had a real life experience of it like I did. I didn't necessarily travel back in time like Lady Soo in Scarlet Heart: Moon Lovers, but I felt everything. Right there in the classroom, everyone's eyes were on me, feasting on my startled body with their Romanic blood thirsty eyes while Dr Peter stood above all like Emperor Nero, watching as his subjects shot arrows at me; come to think of it, he somehow looks like the portrait of emperor Nero. " Mr Middleton, seems like you would like to continue with the class since you told me to stop", he peered through his thin glasses that were sitting on his big nose, fidgeting with the marker as if he was autistic or had a severe diagnosis of ADHD. " No sir, no sir. That was not what I meant. I........I was.........". " Then wh

Hazel's POV Her eyes were blinking in expectancy for the answer as I drew back a little on my chair, the expression on her face far from being discreet. " Mrs Yang, I mean, why would that bother you? It is my business if I decide to have sex with my husband", I was starting to get a little bit annoyed. Discussing such matters with her was far from being formal and would likely threaten our employer - employee relationship. " No, it is not only your business", she said with certainty, just like how my nanny had convinced a five year old me that Santa Claus was real, only for me to pull the old man's beard and have it fall to the floor right in his face. " Sir, you're unhappy, someone like you who just got married shouldn't be this unhappy". " And how is that any of your business Mrs Yang?" I was really beginning to find it amusing. " Because it will not affect only you; it will affect every one of your employees". I was speechless, " what do you mean? How will me.....not

I was happy. The morning sun was peeking out its radiant glory from the far east, stretching out a golden soothing color across the horizon. I was sure I had woken up on the right side of the bed because I was undeniably happy. My cheeks were almost red in color when I checked the mirror and just thinking about it made my heart skip a beat. Even though I was excited to meet him, I didn't want to meet him. Not that I didn't actually want to meet him, I mean, I didn't know how to react after what happened between us and I didn't want to ruin things by sounding too casual or too formal, and I was equally pretty sure that I was going to freak out if he smiled at me. I checked myself in the mirror, making sure that my mother's makeup wasn't so evident on my face. It gave me the desired glow up I needed and that was perfect. I picked up my backpack and headed downstairs, joining my dad at the dining table. " Good morning Dad", I greeted as I settled for a plate of oatmeal and pa

Hunter's POV That damn cop. He surely was not raised by a mother when he treated me that way. Me, Hunter Caspian Middleton, of all people, and he even made me leave my car by the road side, only to be dragged to the station in his deranged doughnut-smelling siren car, and I'm pretty sure that by the time we're done, I was going to have a parking ticket in my official record; way to go officer. The exterior of the station was adorned with flowers and marble floors, leading up to a giant statue of an unidentifiable person whose identity was literally of no use to me at the moment, only that he seems to have been a good looking man. If only he was that big in real life, watching him take off his pants would literally give me great joy - stupid me thinking about unholy stuff. I bet there'll be plenty of time for that in jail. Behind the sexy giant statue was the magnificently magnificent building that had windows for doors, a seven storey building with a large sign that read ' T

Chapter Fourteen

Have you ever felt like the world should just end? Like, this rapture and end times we were being told about at Sunday school should just happen just so that you could avoid a potential embarrassment? Or wished that World War 3 should kick off so that you necessarily wouldn't need to live your life as it was before the war? Just so you can avoid embarrassment? Yeah. I felt that way a million times over. I pleaded with the heavens to send fire and brimstone like it did in the days of Lot, or at least to turn us all into salt - Lot's wife became my role model overnight. I just didn't know what to say or do. My hands were still around his neck as he kept blinking questionably at me. " Think, think you idiot. How can we escape this situation?" I asked that silly devil inside me, but he was probably also embarrassed that he had to disappear - at least he could disappear. " Oh no, what should I do now?" I shouted at it this time, just to make sure that he wasn't really in my head again,

Hazel's POV I couldn't, I shouldn't. There was a time I was suspected of doing drugs. An enemy of mine or the company had given a tip to the police that I had drugs in my office and in my house and the police came with a search warrant to inspect both my house and my office. They couldn't find anything suspicious but still didn't give up, claiming that they had been tipped off by a very reliable source, so they had to inspect the whole company, and even search every one of my staff. They still couldn't find what they were looking for so they had to give up, but the damage had already been done. Before 7 AM the next day, news of the police searching my company for drugs and contraband substances had spread like wild fire, both on the national TV stations and in the business market, and before I could even blink an eye, our sales had plummeted way below my imagination and that made me realize more than Mrs Yang could ever buttress that I was IC corporations, and that IC corporat

Chapter Sixteen

There was always a particular saying that water has no enemy; meaning that everyone and everything living needs water to survive. I can pretty much say that the case is also the same with food. Food has no enemy, everyone and everything living needs food to survive, and I definitely needed food to survive that night, just that the food was in front of me, but still far from my reach. " Can I.......um............can I.........", I still couldn't say it. Fuck it. I wasn't on bad terms with the food, I was only on bad terms with the person who made the food, so the poor food did absolutely nothing wrong, and since it was a matter of life and death, I would agree to put our differences aside if need be. " Can I join you for dinner?" I asked quickly, unsure if he was able to get a single word out of what I had said. " Excuse me, were you speaking English or Spanish? If I'm going to listen to you, you have to speak properly", he said. Such a he-devil. I was pretty sure he

There was a huge fight. Mac was struggling to stay together with cheese, but they were both defeated by agent fork and agent spoon. Agent spoon knew what needed to be done. He transported the defeated casualties to the arena of destruction, where they were to battle with the white giants called teeth. Mac and cheese didn't stand a chance against teeth, for never has it been known that teeth lost in any battle. They were crumbled upon, and then sent into the eternal hole, the hole of no return. I bet that was how the movie director of Sausage Party was going to tell the story of me eating Mac and cheese for dinner - well, he certainly will not be so far from the truth if he should describe it that way because I really devoured the food like a hungry lion, surprised at the fact that I could enjoy Hunter's food that much. Like, who the hell taught him how to cook like that? Or was it because of the fact that I was hungry? Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the meal. We both ate i

Hunter's POV " Mom told me that your secretary here will be attending to my transport needs and your office car is now mine", I said to Hazel with a pint of victory after lovingly staring at his secretary for what seemed like eternity. " Wait, you now address my mother as mom?" he asked in surprise, squeezing his face and making the excess skin on his forehead appear like spotting waves. He was already dressed for work, with an empty glass of milk in his hand. " Of course. She's now my mother, well that's if you minus the additional suffice behind the word ' mother ', but nonetheless, she is now my mother", I was basically ranting, taking pride in showing him that I had his own mother on my side. " Cool. Just great. I certainly will not be surprised if you wake up one day and start claiming that my company is now yours; this house included". " Wow, that would be a great idea", I said and his eyes widened, " I think I'll actually make a fine CEO than you ever will. Don't wor

We both walked into the restaurant and found an empty spot next to the window. " So, why did you choose to bring me here? Do you always frequent this place?" I asked, taking a seat. " Not really, but I have been here a couple of times and their services are literally the best", he said, still talking with honorifics. " Good morning gentlemen, what can I get you?" a young waiter about the same age as me, walked up to us and asked, holding a small jotter and a pen. He was black, and his beautiful brown skin made his smile super captivating and communicable. " Um..... I'll have a creamy latte and a medium sized burger", I said to him, returning his smile, " what do you want?" I asked Mr. Secretary. " I'll just have a cup of black coffee", he said, stretching his tie a bit as if he was feeling quite uncomfortable. " Okay, I'll be back in a short while", he said and left to go place our orders. I was feeling nervous while he was just staring out the window, as if he was
