Chapter 14 Lucas stood near the window of Jasmine’s apartment, his tall frame tense as he stared out into the quiet street. Jasmine sat on the couch, her knees pulled up to her chest, hugging a throw pillow. Her thoughts were racing, but Lucas broke the silence. “We can’t let Ethan get away with this,” he said, his tone firm. Jasmine looked up at him, tired and skeptical. “How exactly do you plan to stop him? He has everything—money, power, connections. What do I have?
