Chapter 31 Blaze’s inner conflict

Blaze remained supine on the sofa in his office, his hands under his head, his eyes fixed on the ceiling. He hadn’t slept at all the last night. He'd been so enraged after returning from the hospital that he'd spent half the night training on the ground. Triana's smile and conversation with the doctor had been replaying in the back of his mind. Then those scathing words…Those pierced his heart like needles. He had never anticipated that Triana would say something like that.Blaze had been so enraged that he didn't want to see her face. So, he had spent the night at the office instead of going back to the bedroom.Alma and Gayle had both tried to talk to him, but he had slammed the door in their faces. He'd been lying on the sofa, staring at the ceiling, ever since. He had considered returning to the room to check on Triana several times. But his ego had prevented him from doing so. He had reasoned that Triana should first apologize for saying such harsh words.Blaze had attempted to

Chapter 32 The ego

Triana was taken aback when she learned she was pregnant. Then a wave of joy spread throughout her. She reached out to caress her tummy. A new life was taking shape within her. It was an overwhelming feeling. She smiled, but her eyes turned glassy. She began to miss Blaze terribly at this point. She wished she could run over to him and tell him she was pregnant.Pregnant…Then she remembered that Alma was also expecting Blaze’s child. Her smile started to wane gradually. The way Blaze had accused her of cheating, it seemed as if he had no faith in her. He could also say the child was not his. This notion made Triana even more depressed. She couldn’t stop the tears from falling."Hey, why are you crying?" The doctor asked. She had a sweet smile on her face. "This is the time to rejoice. You need to take care of your mental and emotional well-being. If you stay down, the baby will be grumpy."Triana pulled a smile over her face, wiping her tears away. "These are tears of joy," she murmu

Chapter 33 The epidemic, part-1

Triana remained on the bed, her hand constantly rubbing her tummy. She couldn't get the incident at the hospital out of her mind. Tony's mother's remarks were still resonating in her ears. Triana would never believe she had a healing ability. Yet, she couldn't help but think about the possibilities. What if she had such an ability? Then she wondered why she hadn't realized she had this power until now. If she possessed the ability to heal, why couldn't she heal Blaze when she found him injured in the woods?"This has to be a coincidence," she murmured and shifted her weight to the other side.Triana remembered Moana expressing that she felt invigorated when she held her hands. Blaze and Gayle claimed Moana pretended to be sick at the time. Triana hadn’t taken it seriously. She began to wonder if she genuinely had healing abilities. Some incidents from her childhood passed through her mind while she pondered.Flashback…Triana was in the backyard with Helena and some other friends, pla

She grabbed her arms and said anxiously, "We are in great trouble. An infectious disease has spread all over the pack. The hospital is overflowing with patients. There is a shortage of doctors and nurses to treat patients. Dario gave the order to lock the packhouse. Don’t go out anywhere, alright?""What type of disease is it?" Triana asked. Blaze was getting ready for an important meeting for the upcoming attack on the rogue gang. The ink in his pen had run out. He pulled out the drawer and rummaged through it, looking for a pen. He found the blue gemstone pendant instead of a pen. It was only then that he remembered taking it from Triana to repair the chain. But he got so busy dealing with rogue issues that he forgot about it completely.Blaze took the chain and peered at the pendant, his mind racing to Triana. He missed her."Why did you leave me?" He muttered as he brushed his thumb across the gemstone. He hoped he could put everything aside and rush to see her. Chapter 36 The battle

Blaze and his army crossed the border at the crack of dawn. They were all transformed into wolves and trotted on all fours towards the rogue pack. They trotted rhythmically in sync. They looked ferocious, eyes focused ahead, ears perked up. It was beautiful yet terrifying to behold, enough to make even the most powerful and well-trained wolf armies cower in front of them. The first rays of the sun were insufficient to eliminate the gloom in the dense woods. The morning stars glistened like diamonds. The air was fresh and cold, with a musky aroma of the woods. The wind blew through the huge trees, causing the branches and leaves to sway. The quietness of the night was broken by the birdsong. Looking around, it didn't look like the peace would last long.As they approached further, they found themselves ambushed. Several rogues lunged at them unexpectedly, catching them off guard. Blaze planned to strike the rogue group before they had time to prepare. Here, the rogues attacked them upf

They half-carried, half-dragged him to the hospital.Gayle imprisoned the captive rogues in the dungeon after admitting Blaze to the hospital. Some of the rogues were so terrified that they began pleading with him."Please, please... Don’t kill us. We’ll do whatever you say. Tell your alpha to keep us alive. Please…"Gayle's nostrils flared as he glared at each of the rogues. "You were fighting with us just a few minutes ago. You slaughtered our warriors. You now expect us to be merciful! You should have thought about the consequences before causing problems in the pack."He squared his shoulders and added, "It’s up to Alpha. I’m bound to carry out his orders. If he orders me to kill you, I’ll kill you all." He wrinkled his nose and pinned a murderous glare at them."No, Gayle…" One of the rogues kneeled in front o

Chapter 38 Blaze’s merciless killing

Alma grew restless with every passing minute. She paced around her room, chewing the insides of her cheeks, trying to think of how to persuade Blaze to kill the rogues. Even after considerable thought, she couldn't come up with an idea. She thought of meeting Virgil. She sneaked out of the pack while everyone was busy tending to the injured warriors.Alma arrived at the council office a few minutes later and went straight to Virgil's desk. She found him doing some paperwork. She bowed to him, showing her respect."I was expecting you," Virgil smirked, motioning for her to take a seat."I hope you know how the war went," Alma said as she sat down across from him. "Blaze has imprisoned some rogues. He’ll kill me if the rogues reveal that I’m a spy. I’ll disclose everything if he tries to kill me.""First, I won’t let it happen," Virgil stated emphatically. "Second, he won’t kill you while you are pregnant. So, don’t worry. We have enough time to take him down. Just do as I say." He retr

Chapter 40 The regret

The guards who had been stationed at the dungeon the night before congregated on the training ground. None of them could raise their heads in front of Gayle. Besides, they hadn't forgotten how brutally Blaze murdered the rogues. They trembled in fear, believing that Blaze would kill them all."What were you doing when the rogues broke the cells and escaped?" This was Gayle’s first question. His cold voice sent shivers down their spines."We fell asleep," one of the guards replied, his voice faltering."You were all sleeping so soundly that you didn't hear a thing!" Gayle snarled. "Didn't you know the rogues were locked up in the dungeon? Instead of staying vigilant, you were sleeping!""We are ashamed," all the guards began to apologize. "Please forgive us. We won’t repeat the mistake."Gayle wanted to thrash them all. He believed this massacre could have been avoided if the guards had done their job properly. He suppressed the anger and asked, "How did you find out the rogues escaped
