Chapter Fifty-One: No Significance

After his outburst of information which didn’t seem to make sense in the moment, we stood in place against the door inches from each other. His breathing fast as he looked in my eyes, but in the same breath, seemed to be looking straight past me. His hands still held mine in place up against the wall, it was a though he was here with me but his brain in a completely different location. “What do you mean?” I ask after a moment of silence, the longer that we stood in the same position with none of the questions I’d hoped for getting answered, the more I worried for what may be ahead. As soon as I spoke, Archer seems to snap out of whatever trance he was in and pulls me away from the door and closer to the bathroom, a sense of urgency in his step. “That is no longer important, you must begin to get ready for what I have planned for us this evening, I would suggest you wear a more formal yet casual gown for dinner.” He responds dismissing my question entirely, his body still pushing

Chapter Fifty-Two: The Monster He Created

I couldn’t quite believe the story that was being told to me, I knew I didn’t know much about Archer’s family, but I assumed it was only due to me yet to be announced as Luna or some other simple reason, I didn’t think it was due to his father killing them all! “Why?” Is all I could seem to say as I looked over at Archer, whose face was still plain as he relived the horrendous day he found his entire family dead. “That is something we have yet to understand if we ever will, my father used to leave detailed notes on everything he did as you already know. But this incident, there is not one piece of writing, no map showing when and where it was to take place nothing. In hindsight, I believe he intended it to be that way, if I couldn’t find any evidence which pointed to him, everyone would continue to believe that it was me.” Archer sighs looking back down at the ground, but that was still the subject that wasn’t making any sense to me. “But I still don’t understand, why did your f

Chapter Fifty-Three: Those Three Words

After showering and picking out one of the beautiful dresses the maids had collected for me, I stood in front of the mirror fixing my hair. I had assumed Archer would have some of the cooks fix us up a meal and we’d eat it in the dining room, but he was quick to tell me he had planned something special for my birthday that I had to wait to see. It was an odd feeling for me that someone was making an effort on my birthday, I mean Hadwin used to sneak me a birthday cake with a candle each year which again, meant the world to me but I always felt as though I was missing out. I would see others in the pack celebrating their birthday with friends and family whilst I was told to simply forgot about it, it hurt more times than others where in the end, I would forget about it entirely until Hadwin would be at my door with a cupcake and I sort of accepted that. But now to have Archer go out of his way to plan something for me, I could have cried. The man of the hour walking into the room w

Chapter Fifty-Four: Diamond

The party seemed to rage late into the night, I had the best time walking around the area and getting to speak to so many people, each sending me smiles and wishing me the happiest of birthdays. I had even ventured away from Archer and walked through the party on my own, but I didn’t seem to even notice, I was having such a lovely time. I was also able to see Harriet again, I was beginning to worry that something may have happened to her due to how long it had been, but she reassured me that all was well and after I’m announced as Luna, she’s actually going to become my personal maid! I was a little shocked to hear that I’d get my own maid, in my mind I was fully capable of getting the things I needed done myself. But she was quick to remind me that soon my Luna duties will begin, and I’ll be beyond busy, having her there to help me will take a bunch of the stress away from my mind. By around midnight, I had found myself in Archer’s office, at his desk flipping through the picture

Chapter Fifty-Five: Entitled Men

“What are we going to do?” I ask pacing up and down the office with my shaky hand to my mouth, Archer rereading the letter in his hands over and over again as though what was written would change in some way. “We will think of something I promise, I have sent a message to Emmett who is on his way here now.” He says in hopes of calming me down in some way, but from what I have read and the things that I knew now, there would be no chance that I was about to calm down. “I knew this was going to happen, I knew as soon as he caught wind that I was no longer with my father and brother that he’d find a way in to try and take me. What if he plans an invasion here?” I ask beginning to ramble as I paced up and down, the longer my mind had time to race with the thoughts of how many ways this all could go wrong, the more I began to panic. “None of that is going to happen, remember what I had told you the last time you were feeling anxious, he will have to go through me to get to you and tr

Chapter Fifty-Six: Surfaced Feelings

The sun beginning to blind me is what jolted me awake from my sleep, sitting up a little more than discombobulated at what was happening, I find Harriet, dressed in rather posh clothing and her hair in a tight bun, opening up all of the curtains. This also seeming to wake the sleeping Archer beside me where he groans in annoyance, throwing the blanket over his face to hide from the light. Before I had time to even question anything, the door opens and in walks a dishevelled looking Emmett, his usually slick back hair now up in different places. His outfit was the same one he had slept in last night and his face looking as pale as a ghost. “Much to fucking bright.” He also groans before throwing himself onto one of the ottomans around the room, his arms proceeding to dangle over the sides. “It’s time to wake up Arc.” He groans but seemed to be half asleep himself, as I sat on my side of the bed with the blanket pulled up to my chest looking around, I truly didn’t know what was happ

Chapter Fifty-Seven: Third Invasion

My hands shook as I followed Harriet down the corridor to meet Emmett, one that had never felt longer before. The weight of how big and important this event was sat on my shoulders causing me to grow even more nervous, this event is life changing for not only myself but those of the pack members, this was the official introduction of me becoming their Luna, the start of all that I will bring to the table as Luna, the start of everything, comes from this one moment and I couldn’t mess it up. As I reached the very top of the private staircase, Emmett, who looked much better than he did this morning, stood waiting for me. The suit that sat on his body looked more expensive and, in some ways, vastly uncomfortable, the way he played with his collar showcased that. “Having some trouble there?” I ask with a little smile as I began my journey down the stairs, my question seeming to snap him out of his annoyed war with his collar where he looked up at me. “I’m alright, it’s just this fuc

Chapter Fifty-Eight: The Luna They Need

The lobby slipped into one of the tensest of silences I have ever witnessed, Emmett and I didn’t break eye contact for even a second whilst Harriet remained at the door, a smile on her face for a moment before she too felt the tension in the air. “I will ask you again, what did you mean by the third invasion?” I ask repeating my previous question but adding more context in case that was the reason he was standing there like a plum and not answering my question. “Fern, I don’t think now is the time for us to be having this conversation-” He began to try and once again make me drop it all together, but that was sure as heck not happening! “I believe it’s the best time to have this conversation, I’m about to walk out there and be declared Luna of this place, perhaps I need to know what kind of shady activities the Alpha decides to plan behind my back.” I say with a little smile, but I wasn’t finding this at all funny, it was my coping mechanism to not rush out there and start an ar

Chapter Fifty-Nine: Bound To The Alpha

After the official had given his little speech on how historic this event was and how honoured we all must feel to be a part of it, he backs away and looks to Archer, who I could feel and see was still a little nervous on my entire demeanour and the way I had totally, brushed him off. But clearing his throat, he turns to look at the crowed in his same dominating Alpha trance. “Good afternoon, everyone, I must begin with a thank you, this ceremony would not be what it is, if you did not all pitch in and help. As Marvin the official has just stated, this ceremony is one of, if not the most important event in a pack's history, we are here to welcome your new Luna, one that will promise to stand by the pack and its members throughout anything. One that will show nothing but deep compassion for each member and above all, be there for each and every one of you whenever you need.” He begins to say looking around the area at each person, my hands being forced to rest behind my back as the l

Chapter Sixty: One Last Chance

As like my birthday party, the celebration seemed to carry on all the way through the morning and deep into the afternoon, the feeling around the pack was so high with excitement and glee, each knew the party was to last until the exceedingly early hours of the next morning. Even though the ceremony had been a tremendous success, and I was able to speak with so many pack members who thanked me for accepting Archer and expressing how excited they were for the future of the pack now that I was the Luna. But what Emmett had told me before still clung to my mind preventing me from truly being in the moment. I just couldn’t understand why Archer would choose to invade my fathers pack for a third time, yes, even though I hated the fact he invaded when I was there, it was easier to accept because that whole purpose was to come and collect me. But as Emmett had offhandedly said, I was already here when the third invasion transpired, there was nothing left at my fathers pack that Archer woul
