Chapter Ten: Danger Found Me

ALPHA GAVIN There’s no better way to cap off my little hunt on a Monday morning than with a tall glass of ice cold beer and a big ass plate of just the perfectly cooked ribs, so mouthwatering it slips straight out of its bones. Sometimes I eat the bones themselves, too, but that’s when my wolf and I are feeling extra… messy. Wilde and I have varying moods depending on how good the hunt has been or how shitty I know my day will be. So far, though, it seems to be going peacefully. I chalk that up to the fact that my stepfather hasn’t been home the last three days so no one’s been nagging me about business and finance crap. I’m already more than halfway done with my plate of ribs and mashed potato when I heard the clicking of heels and instantly caught a whiff of the trademark rosewood scent only one person in this house owns. “Gavin,” the voice behind me spoke in a mix of unamusement and impatience. “Yes, my mother dearest?” I taunted before taking another huge bite and

Chapter Eleven: Food Hall Girl

“My name’s Milane Ambriz, but everyone calls me Lane.” The hazel and doe-eyed girl in front of me said as she let out her hand for me to shake. I wasn’t sure if I was hallucinating or just half asleep, but I thought for a second I was looking at a younger and, honestly, a less-stressed looking version of Milla. And did she just say her name was Milane? It was so close… “Uh, h— hi, Mi— I mean, Lane. My name is Alessandra, but you can call me Alessi.” I stuttered a little… Okay, a lot. I couldn’t help but think about the first time I met Milla. We were both so young, much younger then, and now… she wasn’t going to grow up anymore. Not like me. In the back of my mind, I wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or not. “Sorry, did you say Ambriz?” I blinked at her before turning my head to the big sign outside the vet shop. I was right. It was in bold yellow and blue with a paw on each side. AMBRIZ ANIMAL CARE. The girl in front of me let out a soft, somewhat shy, chuckle. “Yup, th

Chapter Twelve: Angel On Earth

Food hall… girl? What the hell? Did I seriously gain myself a nickname after day one? I’m going to bury myself six feet underground. This is so embarrassing! Nonetheless, I forced a friendly smile as I walked towards her. She may know me from some stupid incident, but I don't know her and just by looking at her get up, I can tell I am definitely not the kind of person she'd choose to be friends with. “Good morning, Ms. uh… Arabella Windsor?” I looked up from her file and blinked at her in confusion. Now why did her name sound so familiar? And actually really looking at her now, it's like her face seemed like something I have seen countless times before… “Wind-sow. The r isn’t pronounced. And if you’re going to ask, yes, my family owns the castle at the top of the hill. And yes, I’ve been a model for some advertisements so that’s probably why I look familiar. There are ads with my face plastered all over town." Unlike Lane, this one definitely sounded like she was bragging

Chapter Thirteen: An Unexpected Appearance

“Luca Moretti!” A shriek took me out of my momentarily daze, bringing me back to reality immediately. When I blinked and turned to the sound, I saw a furious Arabella giving her boyfriend a death stare. Luca Moretti… The name sent shivers down my spine. Or were those tingles? Darn it. I need to get a grip! “I’m standing right next to you, in case you forgot. How are you flirting with another woman already?!” Arabella was not amused, though if my boyfriend also acted the way he did, I too would be furious in a way. The only thing I didn’t like was how I was somehow in the middle of all of this. Again. Luca continued to stare at me, almost as if he hadn’t heard a single syllable come out of his girlfriend’s mouth and I was beginning to feel very guilty, not to mention uncomfortable. Albeit that other weird feeling in me that was saying having his eyes on me was actually really hot. It was only until Arabella slapped his arm and let out another shriek did he finally sna

Chapter Fourteen: Maybe They're Both Insane

I blinked at him once, twice, and eventually lost my count. What the hell is a girl supposed to reply to what he just said? I’m still in disbelief, but at the same time, I can’t stop staring at him. For some reason, I am so magnetized by his presence. Those eyes… Goddess, they were so hypnotizing. Such a beautiful brown color with some hint of green in them, like you were staring into a forest. It reminded me of home, at least before home became hell. His lips moved but they just looked like they were mesmerizing me that I didn’t hear a thing he said. “I— I’m sorry, what? Did you say something?” I finally managed to speak. He lets out an impatient sigh, both hot and annoying at the same time. “You need to come with me,” he said in a demanding tone that made me feel like just a thing he can order around and I very much did not appreciate that. “I don’t need to do anything,” I said, standing my ground. His one brow raised and once again, it was intimidating and s

Chapter Fifteen: Life In A Black Book

ALPHA LUCA I’m wide awake. Well, at least my mind is, but I don’t want to open my eyes yet because I know the second that I do, they’ll come flocking around me. My attempt at getting just a few minutes to myself is instantly thrown out of the window once I hear my door swung open and there comes his voice. “Rise and shine, Alpha Luca! Good morning!” I keep my eyes shut, hoping that he’ll cut me some slack today and actually go away so that I could pretend to sleep more. Unfortunately, like the other one hundred times that I’ve tried it, they never ever cut me some slack. I heard a low sigh before another order came. “Girls, wake him up, please, or else the schedule will be pushed back and we don’t want that, do we?” “Alpha Lu—“ “I’m awake, I’m awake.” I instantly sat up from bed and raised my hands up before they could touch me. Normally, being touched by the opposite sex is no problem for me. Heck, I embrace it, but when they’re all aged thirty and up and

Chapter Sixteen: Wherefore Art Thou, Luna?

“Alpha Luca,” my courtier greeted before bowing as I entered the meeting room. Louis is spick and span with silk draped around him. I could tell they were new and it was definitely from my parents. They loved to spoil him. It only made sense since he is the one keeping the Pack back in Italy pretty much in order whenever I have to be away for long periods of time. You could say that he was my step in Alpha, but it’s not allowed to call someone else not appointed as such that title. Technically, he is my Beta, but without me being officially ordained as the Pack Alpha since I still didn’t have a Luna and I am away most of the time, it also can’t be counted. “Louis, looking good. The color suits you.” I complimented him and he gave me a thankful yet shy smile. He’s only a year older than me, but how I was raised like a noble with maids and grandiose things, he was raised in the forest, to be a warrior that guards the Pack with his life. I fight, too, sure, but if it wasn’t f

Chapter Seventeen: Talking To The Opposite Sex

Mates, mates, mates… What in the world did my parents tell me about them again? I was very young the first time it came up. I think I was only about eight years old or so and the only reason I got curious about them was when I attended my first marking ceremony in the Pack. “What are they doing? Why are they going to bite themselves?” The naive little girl asked as her eyes widened in shock and confusion. “They are going to mark themselves, baby, so that everyone knows that it’s just them for each other from now on and forever.” My sweet mother explained as she watched with a smile on her face, and her eyes somewhat reminiscing. “Is that what you and father did? You marked each other? Didn’t it… hurt?” I placed my hand over my neck, rubbing it gently. My mother smiled, amused by the innocence in my question. “It does for a fleeting second, yes, but after, it becomes all worth it. That feeling of a special bond getting stronger between you and your destined mate is incomparabl

Chapter Eighteen: Ready, Set, Fight

Their heads instantly snapped back at each other, I almost thought they would come off. I’ve never seen such aggravated expressions on anyone’s face, combined with furrowed brows. So it seems they were disagreeing and based on how much it looked like Gavin was going to tear off Luca’s head, they were certainly not the friends I thought they were earlier. “I was here first,” Luca reasoned, which was fairly true, I guess. “Who cares? I saw her first and have been meaning to talk to her since yesterday.” Gavin pointed out and well, he did have a point, too. “Yeah, and? That’s not fair because I wasn’t in the academy yesterday and–” “Why weren’t you? That’s not my fault you weren’t there so it doesn’t matter. I technically saw her first so I should have the right to drive her and–” “No! I have the right to drive her!” Luca cut him off, his voice getting much higher, I was afraid people would start looking at us. The two started bickering like a couple who had been togeth

Chapter Nineteen: Two Boy Toys

I should have known the news of something like ending up in a bus in the middle of probably the two most popular guys in the academy would end up spreading like wildfire. It seems I expected too much of my invisibility. Heck, at this point it’s laughable for me to even think that I was anywhere near invisible. For a second I guess I thought they would focus more on the fact that the two guys were in a bus, a completely cheap and public transportation instead of their fancy cars, but that narrative quickly changed when they too found out I was in the picture. And to think that was after I managed to convince them to stay at the bus stop for five to ten minutes until I was properly away from them already. How naive of me. “Hi!” A greeting from a girl with pastel pink hair and pink from head to bottom surprised me as she appeared out of nowhere. I looked to my side and back to see if she was talking to anybody else, but to my surprise, everyone seemed like they were talki
