Chapter 61

Yvonne POVI was frozen at the sight before me; my mind struggled to process what I was seeing, and I couldn't fathom how exactly this had happened. “Trent and Lenore in bed?” It didn't make sense to me. And I felt a cold run through my spine as I instantly became sick. My blood was boiling hot. My body shaken and my fists clenched so tightly that I could feel my nails digging deeply into my palm. “How exactly did Trent end up being here with her? Was it drunk? What exactly could be wrong with him? I felt anger overwhelm me. I wanted to rush to them in bed and yank him off her. Just exactly as I moved forward to them, the guy I hired for the job leaned towards me; he was sounding impatient, like he was quite late for something important."So, madam, are we still doing this job or not?” He asked, and his voice was filled with irritation.I immediately snapped at him. I could no longer curtail my irritation.“Are you blind?" It's my fiance lying down there with that bitch!” My voice r

Chapter 62

TRENT POVI kept feeling some tapping persistently in my shoulder jolted me out of my deep, heavy sleep. As I stirred awake, a blinding ray of sunlight streamed through the window of the room and forced my eyes to open with a wince. I quickly blinked as I tried to make sense of my surroundings, then I heard a soft voice. I was startled by the voice right beside me.“What? Trent? What are you doing here? How do you end up here?” Her voice trembled and filled with confusion.I quickly snapped fully awake, my heart hammering as I looked straight to my right. It was Lenore, laying beside and tangled in the sheer. Her eyes gawked back at mine, and disbelief was written all over her face. My arms were fully wrapped around her waist, and I suddenly felt my stomach drop.“Lenore?” I called her out again to confirm if it was truly her as I removed my arm away from her waist, like it was a kind of burnt. She immediately sat upright, adjusted her dress, and brushed back her hair with her hand.

Chapter 63

TRENT POVI quickly drove out of Reed Villa. as I tightened my grip firmly around the steering wheel, I glanced at Lenore in the back seat of her car; she was still lying down there unconscious. Her face was pale, and her red dress crumbled as her face drained for color. The sight made me feel uncomfortable, and I fully concentrated on just getting her to the hospital as soon as possible. When I eventually got to the hospital, I parked the car in the parking lot, and I quickly rushed inside to get help.Right inside the hospital, the nurses were swift with their moves as they immediately put Lenore in a stretcher and wheeled her down through the hallway filled with the sterile smell of disinfectant.I followed them closely; my heart pounded slowly as they moved her into a private room, and they immediately attached a tube to check her vitals. A few moments later, a doctor walked in and studied Lenore's chart before raising his head at me.“Mr. Knight, right? Are you the one that brou

Chapter 64

TRENT POVI walked back into Lenore's room, resting briefly on the doorframe as I observed her from the door. She raised her head to look at me immediately I entered the room. Her eyes met mine with strange quietness and some exhausted smile. She looked softer now; her usual sharpness was replaced with some kind of undoubtful vulnerability. She sat upright, a little straighter, and adjusted herself carefully against the pillow; it was obvious she was trying to assure me of her posture alone. “Trent, I am fully alright now,” she said with her soft voice. “I think I will like to go home,” she added. Her words filled the air; however, I was still too convinced. There was a subtle pallor that still clinged to her skin, and a faint shadow—a faint shadow—was beneath her eyes. Her face, which was always radiant and lovely, was filled with it till the day had taken up on her. I took some steps close to her as I crouched down beside her bed to be at eye level with her.“Are you sure, Lenore?

Chapter 65

LENORE’S POVMy heart had been reeking with pain for the past few days; it was being heavier than I wanted to admit. Ever since my father left, I haven't heard from him. There were so many things I wanted to speak to him about; there were lots of questions I wanted to ask him, questions that I needed answers to. Right now, I didn't know how he was faring or when he would eventually come back. Three years for me was such a long time to stay away, and with every passing day, the pain grew sharper in my heart and it's becoming unbearable. There were untruthful rumors circulating around. They had claimed that my father had fled the county because he went bankrupt, which I knew was all nothing but a lie. They had insisted that he left because he was financially ruined, and every time I thought about it, my heart wreaked of pains. Even though I didn't believe it, I still wish to tell him about it. “If I didn't hear from my father soon, I wouldn't have a choice but to find him myself, no m

Chapter 66

LENORE POVThere was an absolute decorum in the air when Trent was trying to process what I explained to him, and he hadn't given any answers or said anything about it when Yvonne walked in. I didn't know if she heard anything about what I and Trent had said; however, the moment she entered, I felt her presence. When I raised my head, I saw her moving romantically towards Trent, like I didn't even exit. She wore a fitted red dress; the dress hugged in perfectly to her body and brought out her well-curved shape; it was indeed a kind of dress one couldn't ignore; it attracted attention, and her black hair cascaded on her shoulder. it was sleek and shiny as she cascaded romantically towards Trent. Yvonne didn't bother to share with me an iota of a glance; her gaze was fully on Trent, and her face brightened into a smile that was annoyingly sweet. As she strode over to him, it was as if her steps were measured by a calculator. Getting to Trent, she didn't hesitate; she just wrapped her

Chapter 67

TRENT POVMy eyes opened wide as I walked into Lenore's office. The scene before my eyes was nothing I had expected. Lenore stood, and her expression was blazing with anger, while Yvonne held her face with her right hand; it was red and shocked and a quite light terror to her frame. The snap has really stung her. And I could see her body tremble slightly; her eyes turned red, and immediately Yvonne saw me enter; he quickly made a quick stride towards me; her innocence was evidence; it was like Lenore had cheated her. She clutched tightly my arm, and her voice was filled with softness and pity.“Trent, I had only come here to clear up the air, to clear off the misunderstanding between us…I was thinking Lenore and I…you know, settle things peacefully. I just wanted to make her see that I wasn't a bad person after all and apologized if she felt hurt by any of my actions…. however, she still thinks otherwise, and then she slapped me….” Yvonne dabbed at her eyes dramatically; her express

Chapter 68

YVONNE POVMy heart groaned with pain as I left Trent’s office; my heels clicked sharply right on the polished marble floor. Each of my steps was filled with pain. My face was burnt, not only from the sting of Lenore's slap but from the humiliation I had to swallow in the presence of Trent. That good for nothing, girl! That girl wretched pin had dare to lay her hands in me, and for a moment I saw Red, and I really wanted to fight back, to break her head and make her unconscious; I wanted to make her regret crossing my path, and then I saw Trent, and I had to keep my plans, to look more vulnerable and innocent to Trent. As I approached the building's gleaming entrance, I had to keep my composure more intact. I held a crisp white handkerchief over my face. I felt that everyone's eyes were on me as I walked through the hallway; however, I maintained my steeze and kept my head down to avoid eye contact; I didn't want anyone to see red make that had affected my face. When I eventually go

Chapter 69

As I drove out of Lenore’s Vila, my thoughts moved in different directions, and I kept asking myself a series of rhetorical questions. “Where exactly is she? Why is her line not connecting? I was going crazy, and I knew I needed to find her immediately. How exactly will she leave without any traces? I knew then that I couldn't deny the emptiness that I felt inside of me. And I knew I had missed her. I picked up my phone and quickly dialed up the HR department. The car hummed quietly. I didn't want to waste any more time.“Listen well,” I said sharply as I tried to mask the desperation creeping into my voice. “I need you to terminate Lenore's suspension right away. Send her an email immediately,” I said as I pressed the phone right on my ear as the car accelerated down the road. "Yes, sir, right away. I will send the email straight to her, now." The HR responded immediately. “Good,” I responded; my voice was strained, and I hung up the call. I wish doing this would bring back Le

Chapter 70

YVONNE POVI was enjoying my rare moments alone, with a chilled glass of wine in my right hand and soft music playing from the speakers occupying the whole of my room, and I was just creating the right atmosphere. It was weekends, and I felt like not stepping a foot out of my house today. I leaned back right on my sofa, surfing through my social media, my eyes closed as I allowed my worries to slip away. Today I didn't want to think about anything whatsoever; I just wanted my peace, but it seems that peace never lasts. Then my phone rang, and I quickly glanced through it; it was Mr. Donovan.“I hope he wouldn't ask us to meet. I am in no mood to meet anyone today,” I muttered as I took a little sip of the wine before answering.“Yes, good morning, sir!” I greeted him, trying to sound relaxed like I wasn't disturbed by his call. “Yvonne, I need you to come to my villa right away!” His voice sounded cold and urgent, and it was impossible to ignore there was fire coming. I quickly sat
