"Venus?" King Bloodstar called out. "Are you okay?" Venus wanted to leap into his arms and cry and confess to just how miserable she was. She wanted someone to help her and wish her back home. She wanted to never see Prince Blackscale again. Venus painfully remembered her husband's threat and swallowed. She grimaced and looked away from the King. How desperately she wanted to reveal her abuse to King Bloodstar, a man whom had showed nothing but kindness to her. Venus trembled slightly at the thought of the terrible results. "Venus? What is it? What's wrong?" King Bloodstar asked again, coming to her side. "I'm.... just a bit sick .... from the carriage ride. So much motion and traveling has made me feel queasy." Venus said, not looking at the King. "Is... that it?" King Bloodstar asked her, sounding as if he didn't believe her. Venus had to admit it wasn't a very convincing lie. She never was a good liar. Venus immediately covered her mouth and felt a tidal wave of regret and embarrassment flow through her. She shouldn't have said that. Venus knew it. However, it came out of her mouth without thinking. There was a long minute of stillness and silence. Venus finally looked up at King Bloodstar, who was staring at her in a bewildered look. Before he could say anything, Venus removed herself from his arm. She turned away and began to walk back. "I must go, Your Majesty. The day grows late." "Venus!" King Bloodstar said, calling after her. Venus didn't stop. She picked up her dress and walked even faster. She found herself almost flying through the game room. Many of the nobles barely had the time to notice her as Venus was out of the room as quickly as she came in. Venus trotted along the balcony that overhanged the courtyard and turned into a hallway. Venus wasn't sure what time it was when she decided to leave her bedchambers. Venus wasn't sure when she placed her knitting down. All Venus remembered was that when she finally came to, she was standing before King Bloodstar's bedchamber doors. Venus blinked in confusion wondering why or what brought her here. Venus looked at herself next. She was shocked as she was wearing the same thing white nightgown that she had worn on her wedding night. The dress was see-through and revealing. The first few buttons were undone and revealing the cleavage of her breasts. Her long brown hair was loose and wrapped over her shoulders slightly. Why was she here? Venus arose to the sound of her husband's voice. He shook her abruptly and it jolted her awake. She jolted up and sat up straight. Venus looked around wildly, wondering what happened and where she was. She was sitting on the couch before an unlit fireplace. Her knitting was on the floor, and her needles were scattered over the floor. She was not in her wedding nightgown but a newer and thicker one. A terrible crink in the back of her neck throbbed with relief. Prince Blackscale stood by her, having a hand on her shoulder.
