Chapter 11

I came into the class awaiting Claire, I had to talk to her even if it meant I had to pull her away from her jerk boyfriend.“Claire." I called out.She glanced back before she was pulled away by Blake. That idiot. As the final bell rang, I caught up with her at her locker. "Claire, can we talk for a minute?"She hesitated, looking around nervously. "What is it, Lucas?"She sighed, clearly conflicted. "Look Lucas, I don't wanna talk to you right now.""Please let me explain, Claire. " I urged, my voice earnest. After a long pause, she finally nodded. "Okay. Meet me at the park after school. We can talk there.""Alright." I agreed, feeling a mix of anticipation and dread. The day dragged on until it was finally time to meet Claire. I headed to the park, my mind racing with questions and possibilities. When I arrived, Claire was already there, sitting on a bench and looking lost in thought."Hey." I said, sitting down beside her. "Sorry I kept you waiting.”"What do you want? I need to

I quickly whipped up some ice cream and served it in tiny dessert plates, arranging them neatly on the dining table. "Ta-da! Dessert is ready," I announced. They both quietly came over and took a seat."You guys, dessert on the dining table? That doesn't sound fun. Let's continue our game in the living room."So, they quietly took their dessert plates and went to sit on the floor again. They were both still shook from my words."Um, Claire, why don't we watch a movie now to sign off the game?" Lucas suggested."Oh, that's a good idea, Luke," Darren agreed. We decided to watch a rom-com movie. Darren sat next to me on my left, and Lucas sat next to me on my right. As the movie began, the room quickly filled with laughter and smiles, the comedy lifting everyone's spirits."I wish this dude could just see what this girl is trying to say," Lucas muttered, frustrated at the male lead who kept fumbling in getting the girl.""Yeah, he's so clueless," Darren added, chuckling.I glanced at bo

Chapter 13

My day started off pretty late. I slept in a bit today. I wasn't feeling too well to go to school, and I still had to go see Blake later today. I wondered what his text message was about.I stood from the bed and took my phone from the nightstand. There was a message notification from both Blake and Lucas.Lucas: Good morning, Claire. Darren says hi to you too. Hope you slept well. Have a great day ahead!I smiled a bit at his gesture.Blake: Good morning to the lady that rules my heart. I might have come out a bit rude last night. I'm sorry, love. Tell me when you'll be free to talk.“Aww, Blake's the sweetest,” I said to myself, my heart fluttering as I held my hand to my chest.I felt a mix of emotions, happiness from Lucas's sweet message and warmth from Blake's words. But I couldn't ignore the underlying tension I felt about seeing Blake later. What did he want to talk about?I decided to reply to both messages. To Lucas: Good morning, Lucas! Thank you for the sweet message. Can

Chapter 14

I was sitting in my wheelchair, fidgeting with the rod in my hand, in this hollow cave that echoed every single movement. This cave somehow represented my life, hollow and full of darkness and hatred. The men in front of me, huge and muscular, were shivering in their pants. That was nowhere near the least of the power I held."What have you found?" I asked, my voice dripping with authority. They shrivelled under its weight."Ma... Ma'am, we haven't found any yet. We're still searching," the five-foot-tall man in front of me said."Stone!" I called out to my right-hand man.He leaned down to my ear beside me."Find it for me as soon as possible," I commanded, my face betraying no emotion."Yes, ma'am! Affirmative," he replied loudly, commanding the men out.I sat there for a while, waiting for Stone to come back. I caught a glance of myself in the reflection of a puddle of water on the floor.I looked so pale, with dark, hollow eye bags. My skin was dry and flaky, as if I hadn't eaten

"Uhm.., Claire. Why do you keep zoning out?" Lucas asked, lowering his face to hers, which was staring down at the sheets.Claire shot her head up but unfortunately collided with Lucas's. He clutched his nose, groaning in pain.Claire hurriedly pulled out tissues from the first aid box and pressed them into his nose.“Oh my! You're bleeding! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry!" she shrieked, holding his face, freaking out while Lucas just sat there, watching her turn into a nervous wreck. At some point, Lucas began smiling. Claire noticed and crossed her arms.“Is it so funny that you're bleeding?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.Lucas waved her off. “No, it's just that you look funny being nervous," he said, smiling. She hit his arm playfully. “You're an idiot," she retorted, but there was a hint of a smile on her lips too.She wiped away most of the blood, but it kept gushing out. She attempted to stand up, but her body was still fatigued."Claire... Claire... Relax and let me treat your wou

Claire's Point of ViewI switched off my phone as soon as I got out of the car. Lucas must have been typing, but Sophie has a no-phone policy at sleepovers. I really hope he understands.“Cee!" Sophie, Bianca, and Blake called out.“Haha, how did you all get here so early?" I asked, dramatically running to hug Blake.“You spend hours preparing for sleepovers, Claire," Blake said, wrapping his arms around me and sniffing the corners of my neck.*cough *cough “Claire…” she said, her voice apologetic and slow."You know, the others are coming, right? Chris, Ben, Chloe, Helen—”“Helena?!" I snapped.“Yeah, Helena," Sophie responded.I placed my hands on my head in distress. “Ugh," I groaned in utter disgust.“Well, it's just for a few hours," I said silently, trying to comfort myself.Sophie and Bianca went back to the kitchen to prepare some small snacks and popcorn for the night.I went to sit beside Blake and wrapped myself around him. He always had this strange effect on me, like a m

We got to the bathroom and I waited outside for a few minutes. She came outside eventually with a paper towel. She quickly turned back. "What happened, Chloe?""Um, I saw someone running along the hallways right now.""Really?" I asked, my heart racing. "Let's go check it out.""Okay," she agreed, and I followed her as she led the way down the corridor. The atmosphere was tense, and every shadow seemed to loom larger. Chloe turned a corner, and I stopped short when I heard loud screaming."Chloe, Chloe, what's wrong?" I ran, confusion and fear tightening my chest. My blood ran cold as I saw Chloe drenched in blood on the ground on the first floor."Chloe!" I screamed, the sound ripping from my throat. The others came rushing upstairs, their faces pale with shock."Oh. My. God. Chloe, what have you done?" Helena snapped, her eyes wild.Shivering, my hands cold, I stammered, "I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything. Why is she on the floor? Why is there blood?""Claire, tell us what

Claire's mind was exhausted in barely a few hours. Lucas left the room to find Darren in the hallway."Here, take a look." Lucas's face showed shock, confusion, and a bit of uneasiness."A friend of theirs died, and Claire is the apparent murderer," Darren said."Shit!" Lucas mumbled."She has to stay here for the time being, at least until we're able to find out what happened," Lucas added."It's late. Let's get some sleep. Good night." Darren left for his room in front of theirs.Lucas couldn't leave Claire to sleep alone, so he slipped into the sheets next to hers.Lucas's Point of View I couldn't get any shut-eye. I was restless, this feels weird and unreal. Nothing like the usual deaths I've seen. It feels conspired. Or maybe I'm thinking too much.I decided to take a walk down where the incident occurred. I would most definitely find something useful.Blake and Claire's best friend were surrounded by police cars, the girls were sobbing and Blake looked like he was about to puke

“Forget about your phone for now, when Darren comes back. I'll ask him about it." Lucas said.“What am I going to tell my parents ugh. My Dad is gonna kill me." Just trust me please.” Lucas said, dragging the sheets up to chest.Claire looked softly at Lucas.I always feel comfort and warmth when I'm with you.She sat properly and pulled Lucas into an embrace, snuggling into his chest."I always feel safe with you, Luke," Claire whispered softly.Lucas placed his arms around her, hugging her back. He caressed her back gently.“Thank you, Claire." He whispered softly. They let go of each other and Lucas tucked her back into bed. "We'll go to an unidentified location. There, you'll make a call to your parents, reassuring them." Darren explained. Claire nodded, slowly approving of the idea. "Then what?" "You'll cut the call and burn your SIM card," Darren said. "Wow," Claire replied, her eyes swelling with joy. "I totally agree but let's wait for Lucas to wake up and ask his opinion about it." --- A few hours later, Lucas woke up, rubbing his eyes and looking around. He walked into the living room, where Claire and Darren were waiting for him. "Hey, feeling better?" Claire asked, pressing her lips and picking her fingers in guilt. "Yeah, a bit," Lucas replied, crouching down to separate her hands and squishing her face. "What did I miss?" He said smiling reassuringly to Claire before facing Darren. Darren quickly filled him in on the plan. "We were thinking Claire should call her parents from an unidentified location and then burn her SIM card to stop the police from tracking her. This way, h
