Chapter 70: The past and a friend

"Two shots of tequila,” I ordered to the bartender.Benjamin was hovering behind me. My heightened senses could feel his nervousness. His reaction was understandable. During the years that we have been working together, our relationship has been strictly for pack and professional. He didn’t know I was mated and that I have a mate. It wasn't his fault that he didn't understand what happened between me and Oishin . I didn't directly display my affection or care towards him. For years, I hid this and only Yuhan knew it. I ordered him to keep my secret and that no one should know my shameful past."Coming right up mam,” the bartender replied with a smirk on his face. He was attractive and, being part werewolf, we attracted humans easily. We were the honey, and they were flies. We were the predators of the world at least that’s what I think now that I changed a lot. Benjamin stood behind me as I slung myself into one of the bar stools. I could feel his hesitation at joining me for a drin

Chapter 71: Never Trust a Cheater

There were many things that I hated about being a werewolf. The first was clearly the mate bond. I could happily live without that. The second was hiding a part of yourself from the world, even if that part of me had disappeared. Finally, the worst was I hated how difficult it was for me to get drunk and forget my worries.Despite sitting in the bar all afternoon, chugging the best bottle of whiskey I could find. I was still sober. While Benji slurred and stuttered incoherent sentences. He wasn't unpleasant to be around. I had seen many bad drunks, but being the sober one, well, that's no fun at all.It was then that I took Benji to my inner sanctum. Although he knew where I lived and had lingered in the entranceway to my penthouse. He never once entered. He was a good man who respected my privacy. Samuel wasn't at the door, but James was still in the lobby. He was lingering in the lobby like an unpleasant smell.I linked my arm through Benji's and strode across the lobby like I owned

Chapter 72: Her wolf Doubts

My head was pounding, it felt like bricks were repeatedly hitting my temples repeatedly. My back ached as I felt the cool tile hit my back. I groaned and pushed my hand over my face. I hoped the darkness could creep in soon. It had been years since I got drunk. There was nothing pleasant about the sun creeping in as I pealed my eyes open.I pushed myself upward on the back of my hands. I could feel that I was unsteady. It was like I was still drunk. The surrounding scene was blurry and I could see another figure in the distance sprawled out on my sofa. My mind tried to recall what happened last night. Images pushed through my mind of shots with Benji. As I pressed my back against the wall, I felt a chill run down my spine for no apparent reason. Part of me knows that alcohol can change someone's decision easily. I closed my eyes tightly. For the first time in years, I prayed to a Goddess to take this damn pain in my head. After speaking with Oishin yesterday, I realised I was still ma

Chapter 73: He knew

I gently run my fingers through his hair, hoping to wake him gently. He stirs slightly as his nose wiggles in response to my movement. His mouth hung open and I could see the drool slipping through his mouth onto the bed. Normally, this would bother me, but I will let it pass as Benji is one of the most hygienic people I have ever met.."Benji," I croak out softly as I run my fingers through his hair."In a minute." He mumbles in his sleep."Benji, I need you to wake up and stop drooling." I give a small tug on the ends of his hair. His eyes snap open, his body bolts forwards. His eyes connect with mine and they widen. I can see the shock but the happiness that he has since I'm awake and alert."Aine!" He exclaims. His shoulders release the tension. "Thank fuck your awake!" He sighed."Mind telling me why I'm in a hospital bed?" I replied. My voice was hoarse and dry. My tongue felt like sandpaper. I pointed to the cup of water that was on the bedside table. Benji quickly moved and pu

Chapter 74: The pain he Caused

They lulled me into a deep sleep; it was warm and comforting. My body felt relaxed. It was like a calming river rushing past my skin, washing my impurities away. The intoxicating scent of musk, lemon and oranges filled my nose. The smell was mouth watering. I felt myself sigh deeply. I could tell that I was waking up from my dreamless sleep. Part of me wasn't ready to wake. I was content and enjoying the rest that had escaped me over the last years. I slept, but this was the best sleep I had in years.Peeling my eyes open, the soft cotton sheets wrapped around my body, my head was resting snuggly on the pillow. I exhaled in relief that I was safe and sound and away from my worries. I pulled my arms above my head to stretch when I realised a warm hand was gently caressing my hand. A soothing sensation enveloped me, causing small little sparks to erupt across my body. The sensation was exhilarating as I focused on the gesture. Although they were rough and callous, all I wanted was to b

Chapter 75: The Chasing game

"Aine, I am truly sorry for the pain me and my human have caused you. I promise you he has suffered. We both have. I refused to let him sleep peacefully. The Moon Goddess riddled his mind with nightmares the day he cheated on you. If you think he was happy with Caitlin after you left, then you are mistaken. He suffered. He learned to drink silver mixed with his drinks just to weaken me and our bonds. My human desires power and is easily manipulated by his father. I’m sorry I didn’t guide him accordingly.”"Punishment is very underestimated, wolf. His actions almost killed me and Chea and killed my youngest son I. I’m sure you do know how painful it was for me. And letting his son Eion be killed. That’s not a father figure for me. I’m sorry that you were in a wrong human.”“I’m sorry. I’m truly sorry Aine.”"May I please speak with Oishin?" I asked his wolf."Yes, I will leave for now. All I ask is that you consider giving him a chance to mend his wrongs. I don't know how you hid all t

Chapter 76: Decisions

"Yuhan." I pushed Oishin’s hand away from my neck. Benji and Yuhan were dressed in their two-piece suits holding a bunch of yellow tulips. Benji had a small smirk on his lips and Yuhan smiled too but that quickly turned to a scowl as he realised who was in my room. Oishin let out a small growl. I could smell his jealousy linger in the air as he looked at Benji. “If look could kill, Scarface, you already killed my husband,” Yuhan said and pushed Beji behind him.“Romano,” Oishin gritted his teeth. What a rogue doing here?” He said. “Be careful, Oishin Yuhan is my family. Do not disrespect him otherwise you can kiss goodbye to our deal,” I warned him. There was a silence between us until Dr. Steven who walked in with his hand. He looked around the room trying to work out what was going on. "Ah Miss Romano, it's good to see you wide awake. Your Fiancé has been nothing but worried about you. Threatened a couple of my staff until we let him see you," Dr Steven said as he looked down

Chapter 77: Greyhound pack again

My eyes peeled open after a long restless nap. I checked my phone and could see that I had been travelling for over seven hours now. I looked at Benji, who was slouching against the window, mouth hanging open and drool dripping down his chin. He was fast asleep, and I didn't have the heart to wake him. My Eion was watching on his tablet, constantly, he would look at the window. If it weren’t for my son, I wouldn’t be returning to our old pack. Eion was already twelve years old and I didn’t know he was also yearning for a father. Despite his tough act, he was a lonely child and I was too blind to know. I opened my window and looked at my surroundings as the car was driving through the country paths. Although it had been years since I had been on pack lands, I could sense the connection to the area. I knew we were minutes away from being in Greyhound Pack. The air was thick and humid, but because of the drive, it created a cool breeze across my skin. The land had changed since I had b

Chapter 78: The Family

My parents stood in front of me, their faces held nothing but shock and surprise at my haughty demeanour. I mean, did they really expect me to pull them into my arms and cry? Could they not comprehend that I wasn't the same girl I was years ago? Many years is a long time for things to change. The last time they saw me, I was twenty-three, pregnant and with a two years old son and no place to go.. I was broken and shattered and in need of someone who could understand her.Now I was a woman who was confident, powerful in her own right, independent who needed no man to lean on for support. There was nothing left of the girl who hid in the shadows. I was now the star that shined in the sky. I glimmered through the adversity that my family and pack had caused me. They couldn't even reach me, I was so high up. A part of me hated them for what they did, but if they hadn't pushed me to leave, I would have never become who I am today."Aine it's really you." My mother whimpered. The tears casc

Chapter 79: Lesly

Lesly stood there, nothing but shock covered her face. There she stood behind the problem china and the clattered tray across the floor. It had been years since I had laid eyes on her. All my years I lived with Oishin, she was there to insult me, to degrade me and say hurtful words for me. She was always an attention seeker and the victim. She loved attention more than anything. I envied her. She was so beautiful back then. As I looked at her now, she looked different, she looked worn out. Her skin that was once bright and clear was now riddled with dirt and small scars across her face. Her body was no longer fit and slender but she looked weak and brittle. The once confident stance she took was now timid with her shoulders slumped. Her light blue eyes which she inherited from her mother were dark and a deeper shade of blue. They were hidden behind large dark circles and small crows stretched out of the corner of her eyes. When I look at her, I no longer see the perfect daughter, th
