Chapter 31: Kim Clan's Mission

Julian's POV “That's the scope for the next project, sir,” Mr. Stephenson reported. “Do you mean I'm blind?” He jerked his head up and stared at me with wide eyes. “S-Sir, I never….” “Enough!” I slammed my fist on my desk, “This is a total garbage you have here as a scope. I can't believe you gave me such inaccurate information. Your mistake has wasted my valuable time and resources. Deliver this back to me and get it together!” I flung the files in his direction and the papers were flying in the air. He hastily bent over and picked it up. “I’m so sorry, sir. This would never happen again,” he apologized hurriedly, bowing before he walked out of my office. Other team leaders in my office stood with their legs shaking. The next person presented their proposal but I wasn't in the mood for work, their silly mistakes kept getting me riled up. “Everyone should leave my office now!” I barked with my elbow resting on my desk and thumb supporting my chin with my index finger re

Chapter 32: A Week Plus

Author’s POV Julian's phone beeped, it was an anonymous message. A picture was sent to him. He furrowed his brows in confusion, wondering what the picture was all about. He was about to click on it when he got startled by the knock on his car window. He clicked on it unknowingly and the phone fell off his grip. He glared at Sophia through the window before he picked up his phone. To his surprise, he wasn't able to access the picture anymore. “Have you gone nuts?” He gritted his teeth at Sophia, pushing the door opened and she flinched. He looked really furious and she wondered if he was mad because of the picture she sent to him. It was the picture of Alexandra and Carlos. She wanted to implant doubts about her in his heart. “T-Tiger, is anything the problem?” She acted docile, feigning a scared expression. Julian cursed under his breath, rubbing his face. He was vexed because he wasn't able to see the picture sent to him. Tracking the number down would take a month or a

Chapter 33: 'I Love You, Granny'

Alexandra’s POV “I'm pregnant with Julian's baby,” I croaked, looking at my mum. Her mouth went agape, gazing at me in astonishment. Carlos insisted on dropping my home which I wasn't liking because that makes him knows where I live. I sniffled, wiping my tears and tucking the strands of my hair behind my ear. “I guess that explains why I have been feeling weak lately,” I added, my eyes feel puffy and red. I couldn't stop the tears that kept gushing out of my eyes, playing with my fingers as I await my mum's response. I was reminded of the night I spent with him before I left Australia. “Do you regret it?” I darted my head to my mum. She pressed her lips together, blinking back her tears as she came closer to me. “Do you?” She repeated with our eyes fixed together. I didn't hesitate before shaking my head negatively. “He has nothing to do with this. I forced him to sleep with me and I enjoyed every moment of it. But getting pregnant….” I couldn't complete my words as I br

Chapter 34: Going Back To Her

Julian's POV Nine Months Later. The completion of the mission was done several months ago. But we had to stay low for months because the authorities had been investigating the gangs that brought the massacre to the election that took place. I have been in Dagnus’s Villa for months, and today was my last day. I groaned with my face buried on the pillow. This was my assigned room I have been in for the last few months. Finally, Alexandra's location has been found and I plan on leaving the country today. From all my investigations, everything pointed at Sophia. Her reasons for playing such tricks was still unknown to me, but it's confirmed that the person behind her was Dagnus. It infuriates me that I have to pretend I knew nothing about what he did. Everything would be sorted out later until I am able to bring Alexandra back to the country. When that is done, I'm certainly sure Dagnus would be totally displeased so I would gladly quit being a member without holding back.

Chapter 35: Meeting Her Again

Julian's POV Arriving in the States, I was shocked to see that Alex's location led me to an hospital. I alighted from my car and entered. But I was stunned to see a stretcher, pushed in with a pregnant woman on it. From the side of her face, I knew who she was already. It was as if the whole universe had stopped for that moment when I heard Alex's cries as she was rushed in. I forgot to breathe and my heart skipped a beat. “Alex, dear. You can do this,” I clutched my chest when I heard Madam Cassandra’s crying voice and I gasped in fear. ‘What happened? How did she get pregnant?’ I thought, my eyes are glued on her stomach. My legs worked on their own and I strode towards them. My heart pounded in my chest, recalling our last moment together and the possibility of the child being mine. “Acosta,” I called out longingly when I got closer. Madam Cassandra turned back and her eyes widened in astonishment. The nurses stopped pushing the stretcher and Alex's stunned eyes glued on my fa

Chapter 36: Pregnancy Implications

Julian's POV “That's great then. I have bad news,” the doctor announced and a wave of despair washed over me.“Let's talk in my office then,” said the Doctor. He walked ahead of us and we all followed him. All the way, my heart kept hammering in my chest. All I could pray for was for her condition not to be severe and curable. I'm ready to give it all it takes. Still, I need confirmation to know if the child was truly mine.Arriving in front of the doctor's office, I was about to enter when Carlos stopped me. I groaned inwardly and cast him a dreadful gaze.“I'm not here for you, man. Leave my way,” I told him without smiling.“Well, yeah. I get it. But Madam Cassandra doesn't seem to want your presence around her daughter,” he retorted and I looked over at Madam Cassandra, who was still weeping with her gaze on mine.“Please,” I mumbled under my breath. Finally, she nodded and the @sshole before me left my way before I was able to enter the office. The Doctor cleared his throat, gla

Chapter 37: Pregnancy Implications (2)

Julian's POV A Few Days Later.“Please, drink this,” I pleaded, raising the spoon of soup to Alex. She only kept staring at me without making an attempt to eat anything. She was seated on the bed, her back was resting on the wall.Madam Cassandra was outside the ward, weeping in the hallway and couldn't bring herself to face Alexandra after what happened earlier this morning. My whole body was shaking with turmoil and I was only acting tough in front of her.“Acosta,” I whispered, dropping the spoon. She didn't say anything and only continued to stare at me. The doctor advised us to always be around her, for her not to lose herself completely.Tears welled in her eyes and that was when she looked away. Her eyes fell on the baby cradle that was beside her bed. It was empty and my heart stung, I looked down at my feet and tried to hold my tears back.It was really hard for me to do because of her expression and how guilty I was for what happened. I heard the bed muffling, making me rai

Chapter 38: Alex And Alexandra

Alexandra’s POV A Few Weeks Later.I was in my room, gazing out of the window, seated on the couch, lost in my thoughts. I got discharged a few days ago and the thought of coming back to this house without my little daughter will still be a choking lump in my throat, impossible to find its way to my stomach. It's hard to accept this reality.A tear slid down my cheeks, which I didn't bother to wipe it away. Each moment was a tormenting eternity. My body was wracked with waves of pain, as if invisible hands were twisting and tearing at my insides. I could barely move, my limbs heavy and unresponsive. With every bitter tear, my heart felt like it was being torn apart. The ache inside was relentless, a gnawing pain that spread with every sob. A soft sob escaped my lips and I continued crying silently, bittered by what had happened to me all my life.I was reminded of Sophia, the one whom I chose as my best friend. I don't want to believe that she was part of Julian's organization. It m

Chapter 39: Back To Australia (1)

Julian’s POV “I will be right back,” I said to Alex, who kept staring at me without blinking. I don't know if she was doing this in order not to talk to me.I realized that I have to give her her space. With time, she would come around soon. But that doesn't mean I won't care for her, I will always care for her until I take my last breath.Standing up, I wiped her tears and kissed her cheeks. She still didn't react, with our closeness, I fixed my eyes on her face. She wasn't responding or reacting to me, yet she was crying.Trying my luck, I pecked her lips and wiped her tears, it was still the same thing. ‘Is this some other level of avoidance?’ I thought, wondering why she wasn't responding. Sighing, I walked out of the room and went to find Madam Cassandra. She was in the kitchen, making soup for Alex when I walked.“Hi,” I greeted and she nodded in response with a stiff smile. The whole house was so gloomy and I felt like it wouldn't be safe for Alex's mental health. Giving wha

Chapter 40: Back To Australia (2)

Julian’s POV Gripping my hair frustratedly, I raised my head and looked up at the doctor.“What's the best solution?”“Getting a professional psychiatrist and supportive system,” the doctor responded, and I heaved a deep sigh.I was totally confused at this point. Of course I know what to do, but knowing that Alex has a mental health issue because of my carelessness hurts me more.“Starting from the supportive system. What do you think would help?” I asked him in a quiet tone.He hummed thoughtfully, leaning into his swivel chair and twirled around a little.“You should start with a pet. I mean, get her a pet with a white fur. Be it a cat or puppy. She might react to it,” he proposed and I nodded obediently. He went ahead giving me more advice on how to help her manage her condition. After a short while, I walked out of his office, searching for the nearest pet shop on my phone.I found a particular shop, got her a maltese dog with a white fur, according to what the doctor had said.
