Chapter Ninety-One - The Demand

Over the couple of weeks since she had known she was pregnant, Luna had imagined what it would be like. The moment when she would finally tell Justin the truth. And she had never imagined it this way.Because it was happening, Luna didn’t need a neon sign to tell her. This was the moment when she was going to tell Justin she was pregnant for him. That he was going to be a father, to her baby.Luna gulped again, she opened her mouth and started to let him know, and then a waiter passed by carrying a tray of hors d’oeuvres, again. Luna’s eyes widened for a second as she felt the nausea bubble up inside her throat, she pressed a hand to her mouth to stop it. The smell of the desert wafted up to her nose as the waiter walked past, Luna pressed a hand to her stomach, retching.“Luna? Are you okay?” Justin asked. His hand clamped more firmly around her arm, he peered at her intently. Luna held on to Justin’s hand on her arm, she closed her eyes and willed the nausea back like she had d

Chapter Ninety-Two - The First

Flashback.Luna stared down at the home pregnancy stick in her hand, her heart beating loud in her chest. The positive sign couldn’t be clearer, but just in case it wasn’t, Luna continued to stare at it to be certain. She couldn’t believe her eyes, she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Sure, she had thought about it, about getting pregnant for Justin. After all, he was her husband. Even though he hadn’t exactly been acting like one for the duration they’ve been married. But all that wouldn’t have changed the fact that she could get pregnant for him, so she had thought about it.And in fact, she had more than thought about it, she had had hopes for it. She had had hopes that maybe, just maybe, the introduction of a new element into she and Justin’s relationship would help them. A baby, created by both of them. If that didn’t soften Justin’s attitude towards her, she didn’t know what will.So she had had hopes. But she hadn’t expected it to be this early. She and Justin had onl

Chapter Ninety-Three - The Stand

Present day.Luna stared at Justin like he had grown two heads.“What?!” she exclaimed.Justin looked at her like they were discussing the weather.“I said we’re getting married,” he repeated, like he wasn’t saying the most ridiculous thing Luna had ever heard in her entire life.Luna scoffed, staring at Justin with a dumbfounded look on her face.“No, we’re not,” she countered. She folded her arms across her chest as Justin stared at her. “And we’re not even going to argue about it,” she added, anticipating his mood.“What do you suggest we do then?” Justin asked.Luna scoffed. “Huh, not get married?” she suggested.“We should be getting married, Luna, you’re carrying my child,” Justin said.“And you’re not in a position to make demands,” Luna reminded him. “You are not going to intimidate me into a position, Justin, not this time.”“And when have I ever intimidated you into anything?” Justin asked her.Luna stared at him, and then when he just looked right back at her, L

Chapter Ninety-Four - The Curveball

Luna paced the floor of her office, fuming, spitting mad and boiling.“Who the hell does he think he is?!” she barked at Rita, who just blinked at the sudden noise. She was seated in the visitor’s chair in Luna’s office, where she had been for the past one hour as she listened to Luna’s rant. Rita closed her eyes, she put a finger in her ear, a little concerned about her ability to ever hear anything else other than Luna’s ranting ever again in her lifetime.“I’m sorry, am I boring you?” Luna demanded at Rita’s bored gaze.Rita sighed, she sat up in her seat. “No, I’m just wondering if my ears still work,” she replied glibly. Not amused, Luna glared at Rita. “Would you take this seriously?”Rita sighed again, “Apparently, they still do,” she murmured to herself. She clapped her hands and looked up at Luna. “Look, Luna, you know I’m always down to listen to you, I am always in your corner and I always support you. You know that.”“Doesn’t feel like it right about now,” Luna retu

Chapter Ninety-Five - The Issue

Much later, when Rita had gone on home, Luna remained in her office, but she wasn’t doing any work. Her back was turned to her desk, she was seated in her chair as she stared out the glass walls surrounding her office, at the night city sight spread out before her. Rita’s words from earlier circled in her head. ‘She and Justin have to talk’. That didn’t sit well with Luna seeing as talking to Justin was the last thing she wanted to do. She didn’t want to talk to him, she didn’t want to see him, hell, she didn’t even want to know him.If she could have one wish as she was seated in her office late at night, at 10PM, staring out at life going on outside her literal glasshouse, Luna would wish she could forget all about Justin Lake. She wished her memories would just cease to consist of him, of the years she had know him, the years she had spent loving him, being married to him, hoping he loved her back. She wished those memories would fade away, and she could go back to being the nai

Chapter Ninety-Six - The Home

Luna drove up to Justin’s house. It was 11PM, she had let Matt go home, she had driven from her office herself. When Matt had revealed who her sister’s secret boyfriend was, the conversation Luna had been dreading having with Justin had suddenly been pushed up to one she had to have tonight. The big ornate gates swung open as Luna guided her car up to them. Even though it was an hour close to midnight, the mansion Luna could see looming behind the gates up ahead didn’t look the least bit dark. Lights lit up the towering building, the doors, the windows, the pillars, down to the driveway. A huge water fountain spouted water into the wide surrounding well around it, and it too was lit up. Luna drove her car to the front of the house, she killed the engine, and just sat staring at the house for a minute. She finally got down from the car, she slammed the door and made her way towards the entrance. Seeing as nobody came to harass her for being on the property, Luna assumed Justin al

Chapter Ninety-Seven - The Two

Justin only raised one eyebrow as he stared down at Luna. “Me keeping it from you had nothing to do with you,” he said, arrogant as ever. Luna couldn’t believe her ears. “’Had nothing to do with me’? Are you kidding me?! It had everything to do with me! It’s my sister we’re talking about here, my sister!” “Yes, and my brother,” Justin added. He crossed his arms over his chest, mirroring Luna’s pose. Luna scoffed, she shook her head as she stared at Justin. “I cannot believe you,” she said to him, furious, hurt and pissed all at once. “I cannot believe you knew and didn’t tell me.” Justin’s eyebrows furrowed. “And at what point in time would I have told you? When you were snarling at me, or being furious with me? Or was it when you were busy avoiding me, my gaze, or even my touch? Tell me, Luna, when during these times would I have been able to get a word in to talk about your sister and my brother’s relationship?” “So you’re telling me you didn’t tell me all this while b

Chapter Ninety-Eight - The Compromise

Luna shook her head automatically. “No, no, that is not what I came here to talk about,” she said. “Well, it’s what I want to talk about,” Justin said, his tone managing to sound both commanding and natural at the same time. “I came here to talk about my sister, you’re not going to just brush it aside like it doesn’t matter-” “I’m not brushing it aside like it doesn’t matter,” Justin interrupted. He started to walk away, Luna followed him, into the kitchen area. “It does matter, it just doesn’t matter to me like talking about our baby does.” Luna did a quick glance around at the impressive kitchen, but before she could start admiring the stunning countertop or the gleaming cupboards, she snapped herself back to the conversation at hand. “There is nothing to talk about when it comes to our baby,” she said through gritted teeth, sneering at the ‘our’, “I already told you, we’re not getting married.” “Yeah, and I didn’t agree with that,” Justin fired back. “You’re not cutting

Chapter Ninety-Nine - The Incentive

You’re what?” Rita blinked at her best friend. She stared at her like she had just done something ridiculous, like grow two heads, rather than just telling her that she was moving in to Justin’s house. But, Luna assumed the two situations were not that far off. Even she couldn’t believe the words that were coming out of her mouth, she couldn’t believe that she was actually going to move into Justin’s house. She had told him she would, they had even settled on a day to move, all that was left to do was to wait for that day. And still she couldn’t believe it. Luna covered her face with her hands, she dropped down on the stool beside the countertop. It was Saturday, and Rita was in her house, they were both in the kitchen. Luna groaned into her hands. “What was I supposed to do?” she whined. “Um, I don’t know, not move into his house?” Rita suggested. Luna looked up at her. Rita was wearing her favourite running joggers and tank top, it was purple, with white lining around th

Chapter One Hundred - The Welcome

A week later. It was moving day, Luna already had all her bags packed. Boxes were boxed up, stacked in the middle of her living room, her kitchen utensils and wine collection were still right where they always were. She wasn’t taking any of that, she was sure Justin had enough of wine collections for her to choose from, and his kitchen utensils would be state-of-the-art. She was only taking her clothes, and other necessities she couldn’t do without. Luna stood in the middle of her living room and just looked around. The room wasn’t sparse, because she barely took anything from there too, but still she felt like she had just packed up her entire life in those boxes. She stared at the boxes. Probably because she had, she thought to herself. Kitchen utensils and wine collections weren’t her life, not even her clothes and shoes. Her life was her essence, her mind, her head, her body, her soul. Those were what constituted her life, and she was moving it all to Justin’s home. She wa
