CHAPTER 71

"I'll make it up to you I promise." Sasha pleaded. She had been apologizing to me non stop since yesterday because she felt bad for letting me deal with Charlie alone. I wasn't holding it against her, not really. But it was so fun to tease her, I couldn't help myself. "I can't believe you would pick a man you only just met over your only sister, your best friend." "But he is a really good looking man though, and the perfect gentleman too. I swear, Jason is one of a kind." "You are really not helping your case sis." I pointed out and she seemed to realize that she was burying herself deeper in the sand. "Okay, how about this? I'll be at your beck and call for the next one month, and I'll never turn down any request you ask off me. That would be enough to make up for abandoning you at least." I pretended to think about it for a bit and when I saw Sasha's hopeful eyes, I almost gave in...emphasis on the word almost. "Nope. No deal." At my response Sasha groaned in frustration.

CHAPTER 72

"Get the fuck out of my house." I yelled at an alarmed looking Charlie who flinched at my harsh tone. Clearly, that wasn't the response he had been expecting and he couldn't even hide the fact that he had been caught off guard. His expression gave everything away, leaving nothing to the imagination. I couldn't blame him though. When he and I were together, he knew me to be that sweet, loving and naive girl who couldn't even hurt a fly so this new Elisa was still a stranger to him."Excuse Me?" He asked perplexed. After the information he just provided, I'm sure the only thing he expected was a plea deal and it a confrontation."Did i speak in spanish?" i quuzzed. "i said to get your skinny legs and rageddy behind off my couch and out of my house and I will not repeat myself again.""Technically that's not what you..." Sasha began saying but all it took from me was a stern glare for her to swallow her words. On the other hand Carlie chuckled nervously and unsurely. "I don't think you

CHAPTER 73

It took about 5 solid minutes before Sasha was finally able to calm me down, and believe me when I say it was no easy task. She offered me a glass of water, rubbed my back and even threatened to sing me one of the songs mum used to sing for us when we were kids if I didn’t pull myself together. The song referred to us as little monkeys and to say i hated the song was an understatement. Sasha knew this, and that is why when all else failed, she knew just what to do.Thankfully though, I managed to pull myself together and I no longer felt the blinding rage I felt towards Charlie anymore. If he said the wrong words, there was a fat chance I was going to relapse. I was fine for now though and Sasha was ready to use every second of my calm state to her best advantage.“So tell me…” Sasha began. “…and objectively too.” She added quickly. “How bad do you think things can potentially get if the details of your marriage gets exposed to the public? On a scale of one to ten?’“Try one hundred a

Charlie was pacing back and forth in the living area when Sasha and I returned. He didn’t seem as confident about his offer as he was about a while ago, and I knew that I should have preyed on his uncertainty and used it to my advantage. Usually, people who blackmailed others were usually more confident about and brazen, but for some reason, Charlie appeared hesitant. He looked like he was afraid that I might actually reject his offer and then he would end up without any other cards to play, and by God I wanted to dare him. I wanted to see if he would actually go through with his threat; if he actually cared that little about his brother to jeopardize him like that simply because of a little misunderstanding. Frankly, I didn’t think he had it in him, but I wasn’t ready to risk it either. Charlie was as unpredictable as the Canadian weather and I wasn’t going to put my family at risk based off of an assumption. That is why I was willing to take the risk with Charlie mostly because I kn

CHAPTER 75

As expected, Charlie arrived on the day we agreed, only he showed up two hours early an action I didn’t take it lightly of course for obvious reasons. His behavior was simply unacceptable and if he wasn’t ready to stick to the details of our arrangement then we were definitely going to have problems. It was important that he arrived exactly at the time we discussed and leave exactly on time as being just a minute early or late could mean Russell finding out and obviously, neither me nor him wanted that. “I need to talk to you before you see her.” “What now?” Charlie replied, unable to hide his frustration. “The one million rules you gave aren’t enough for you and now you want to add some more?’’ I ignored him. It was obvious that he was just trying to annoy me but I wasn’t ready to give him that satisfaction, not when Russell’s birthday was in only a few weeks and I was in the middle of planning the best surprise party that was ever planned. “You are uncle Charlie to her!” I stat

After that, we fell into a consistent rhythm for the next year or so, with Charlie dropping by once every month to see baby Emily. He followed all the rules so we didn't have a problem and even Emily began to like him."Uncle Cha Cha." She called him and when I saw how sweet they were together, I sometimes wondered what life would have been like if things were different, if Charlie hadn't been such an asshole to begin with.Of course I had forgiven him for how he hurt me and even for the little stunt he pulled at the company. So far, he hadn't yet caused any problems for Russell or me at the company and I figured the reason he did what he did in the first place was because he was sad and alone. Now that he had Emily in his life, the light had returned to his eyes and he seemed happier. He was even diligent in his role as NNTs COO, acting like a serious minded human and not like the irresponsible jerk I had known him to be.Meanwhile, I was careful not to let Russell find out about our

CHAPTER 77

"Mummy Mummy, come an play with uncoo Cha Cha and me. We are playing hide an shik."Emily cried to me excitedly on one of Charlie's visits. I had been in the study preparing for an auditors conference that was supposed to hold in a couple of days and I had only come out to check on them before diving me back in to work, but the little creature had me trapped. "I'd love to sweetheart." I replied with a smile while crouching low so I could be face to face with her. "but mummy is very busy right now, I'm sure you can understand that. Once im done, ill play with you okay?"Her face fell and my heart broke."Okay mummy." She replied with an unhappy pout. "But it's really fun to play hide and shik, especially with uncle Cha cha And when you are done uncle Cha cha would be gone. So can't you play now and work later?" She asked with big blue eyes that neither Charlie nor I had. The kid was special. As she spoke, her voice quakesd a bit and her tiny lips trembled like she was going to cry if

Door after door, I heard him open and shut until eventually, he opened the door to the room where I was hiding. I didn’t move and I tried to lay flatter…as if that was even possible. It took a while but eventually he finished searching the room and when he decided that I was not there, he walked towards the bathroom door. He turned the knob slowly and stepped into the room. I could see his shadow looming as he seemed to be scanning the room for any signs of me. Who knew that playing a stupid game of hide and seek could raise my anxiety levels to heights beyond the roof? Because I most certainly did not. At this point, all thoughts of the work I had been doing prior were temporarily forgotten as all my attention was completely focused on how to remain hidden and not get caught. I heard the sound of the door shutting and I let out a breath I didn’t even know that I was holding as it appeared that Charlie hadn’t found me. I wanted to stand up almost immediately but I decided to wait fo

CHAPTER 79

"I was right. Baby Emily was struggling to find a suitable outfit for me to wear. She had turned my room upside down and was almost buried in a heap of my clothes. Thankfully, I showed up in time to rescue her from her mission. I thanked her anyway and told her she could go continue playing with Uncle Charlie. I checked the time, realizing she still had at least thirty minutes before she had to say goodbye to Uncle Charlie. "Okay, Mommy! Thank you, Mommy!" she exclaimed excitedly, making her way towards the exit to continue playing with Uncle Charlie. "I picked out your pink shirt, your blue shirt, and your black shirt and laid them on the bed for you," she added. "I didn't know which one to pick, but I think they would all look good on you," she said. "That's so sweet," I replied, ruffling her hair and pinching her nose before letting her go. Once she had gone, I took my time changing into a more suitable affair and began arranging my room, which had been thoroughly rummag

CHAPTER 80

I had been married to Russell for well over three years and during that time, I had learnt that there wasn't a single thing in this world that I couldn't talk to him about. I could tell him about my fears, about my worries about literally anything. Even when I felt like what I had to say was going to upset him, I always said it anyway because in the end I knew that he was going to forgive me, and correct me with love and understanding. Not once in all the years of my marriage and even before it had I felt so terrified of having a conversation with my husband. As soon as I turned Charlie out of the house earlier today I knew that I was going to have to tell Russell about what had been going on behind his back for the past year or so.It wasn't like I planned to keep it a secret from him forever. On the contrary, I had every intention of talking to him about it at the risk of him getting mad but I wanted to wait for the right time. Now that things had escalated to this point though, the
