BRIAN'S POV THREE YEARS AGOI paced in my office angrily.“This is the third time!” I yelled at the top of my voice, smashing my phone on the ground. “Third time! And they can't pin all of this to anyone? No one at all?” I was agitated. “Calm down Brian” Steve said.“Calm down, you say?” I sat at my desk, “I am being hunted down like an animal, Steve,” I said, “it's from one ambush to another, and merely lucky to still have my life, but for how long?” I said, “huh?” I hit my fist on the desk. “Burning down my warehouse at the exact time I was to be there?” I scoffed. “This is more than sheer coincidence, Steve, and I'm not having it,” Steve only watched me, as I ranted and expressed my anger. “If the law doesn't take its course in three days, I'd obviously have to take the laws into my hands,” I sounded a threat. “Until now, there is no evidence to apprehend anyone,” Steve said, “you have a lot of enemies and rivals, Brian, and for all we know, anyone could be behind this,” he

BLAIR'S POV “There, you have the truth!” he said. “I had to leave town and come here as a different person,” he further explained, “until the police trace the attempts on my life to someone, I can neither return nor use any of those I.D you saw,” I took a deep breath, marveled at his story.‘Who would have thought?’I had always thought Brian had a weird dress sense. He always dressed to work like some spy. Everyday, he would arrive at Father's mansion in black leather clothings, dark shades and hats he'd change everyday. “But it's been three years,” I said, “there's no there's still a threat on your life back at Winchester,” I added.“Steven thinks so too,” he replied, “but if there still is, I can't find out in person,” he replied. “I took some measures to check if the town is safe for me to return to.” He said. “How's that?” I asked. I had barely dropped my statement, when his phone rang. It was a call from Steven. We stared at each other briefly, before he proceeded to an

BLAIR’S POV CONTINUES The police searched every nook and cranny of the house, and my only prayer, like Brian, was that they didn't trigger the button that brought out his hidden files. I could only imagine how disastrous that would have been, and I was unready to witness such chaos. Despite their inability to find any thousand dollars in the house, or in Brian's possession, they insisted he followed to the police station, which he did. I only had tears flowing down my cheeks in endless streams, as they took him away. “Whatever happens, do not leave the house,” Brian said, following the police like he was being led to the slaughter. I wasn't sure what was going on, but I didn't at all believe the story of Brian taking my mother's one thousand dollars. I impatiently paced the house, from end to end, crying and drowning myself in thoughts, for hours, and Brian had not returned yet. I so badly wanted to obey his instructions, but I could no longer hold myself together I quickly l

BLAIR'S POV CONTINUES“Where are we going?” I questioned, as pulled me out of the apartment. Outside the apartment was black Bentley flying spur. Brian hurriedly flew into the driver's seat.I stood at the door, staring at the vehicle and what luxury it spoke, with its shinny color.“Common, we don't have time,” he opened the door from his end, yelling at me. “How were you able to afford this?” I queried, “who's vehicle is this?” I threw more questions.“Common, Blair,” Brian's voice showed his exasperation.I didn't have the time to throw more questions, as we began to hear rapid gunshots in our direction. I bent my head, hurrying into the vehicle, shivering from the tip of my hair to those of my feet. Brian drove off at almost two hundred kilometers per hour, and it wasn't long before two vehicles were behind us in a chase, shooting bullets at us. “Shit!” Brian exclaimed, hitting the steering wheel. I sat in fear, without any words, thinking over and over about the near death

BLAIR'S POV CONTINUES Brian hitting me up with the ‘We’re going to Turkey’ line had to be the craziest thing I had heard in all my life. Steven took a deep breath, walking out of the room, dialing a number as he walked past. “Brian, this has to stop,” I said defensively, “It has to stop and it has to stop now,” I said.Brain turned away from me, staring out the window. “You don't expect me to hop on a flight with you, as a completely different person, to cover your…” I was still ranting, when Brian just walked past me, taking a seat at the distal end of the bed. “Brian,” I called, following behind him. “Now's not the time, Blair,” he said, in a bid to shut me out. “There's never a time,” I said, “you have to…” Brian abruptly leaned in, pressing his lips against mine, shutting me up. My heart skipped a beat. I was beaming with joy. He caught me by surprise, a rather pleasant surprise. We remained lip-locked for a few minutes, and the room was thereafter enveloped by a thick

BRIAN'S POV I quickly pressed Blair to the floor, instructing her to lay down quietly.Luckily, the lights were turned off, and I couldn't in that moment, love Blair more than I did.I had insisted to keep the lights on, since we still waited for dinner. This had to be the longest night of our lives, and I couldn't help feel sympathy for Blair. This was not at all the life I envisioned for her, or myself. I had enjoyed peace this three years and I hadn't expected the life I so energetically ran from to catch up with me, almost the very minute she walks into my life. I pulled out a gun, heading downstairs to join Steven. “Great, I see you have things under control,” I said, as he shot the last man in the head upon my arrival. “Yes, but there's more of them, we have to go,” he said, running into the apartment. We hurriedly got Blair and headed for the vehicle. We were all in our seats, I in the driver's seat and Blair at the back. Luckily, Stephen got some food before the men ca

BRIAN'S POV CONTINUESI answered the phone, putting it on speaker phone and I remained as quiet as the grave. We didn't hear a word from the other end either, and it continued for two minutes into the call. I was just about to hang up, when we began to hear very weak, struggling breaths from Steven's end. “Steven,” Blaire called.I immediately hung up.“What did you do that for?” she queried, wearing a confused look. “He might be in captivity,” I replied, throwing the device on the bed, and immediately getting out, walking towards the glass wall.“Or he might be lying somewhere, fighting for his life and too weak to talk,” Blair countered. I was deep in thought and wasn't sure what my next move should be. ‘She did have a point though,’ I thought. Steven and I had codes we lived by. They were a set of rules we properly discussed in times of danger, ever since we were young boys in our early teens. Our rules got reviewed and upgraded as we grew older, but we hadn't discussed any

BLAIR'S POV “Brian,” “Brian!” I called, as I walked out of the bathroom. I went in to wash my face, as I found that it kept me calm through all of the chaos. It was my coping mechanism, when mother and father would throw hate to my face and I couldn't help thinking what I ever did wrong. “Brian?” I called, with an increasing tone, walking around the apartment. I noticed the car's absence and immediately panicked. “Oh jeez,” I exclaimed, running back to the bedside. Sure, I wanted Stephen safe, but I didn't want him going back there by himself. It was too dangerous, especially since it happened just last night. I noticed a piece of yellow paper on the table and ran for it. “Hey wife, So, you were right, Steven might need my help, and if he doesn't, If all that is left of him is his bloody remains, I will single handedly carry and bury his ashes, giving him the respect of the soldier he deserves. If I do not return after three days, you can call +44 0102 8405630

BLAIR'S POV CONTINUES Steven followed behind Brian. He had bandages on his head and his arms. I was delighted to see him, but had to fight the urge to rush to him with a hug. My heart was at peace with Stephen, not only because Brian trusted him, he seemed like a very nice and courageous guy, even though we hadn't been personally involved in a lot of conversations. “I'm so sorry,” I said to Brian, leading him by the hand to the bathroom. I washed his wound with the hose shower in the bathroom, apologizing as often as I could. “It's okay,” Brian said.“We might have to stitch this,” he said, staring at his arm, “it's a deep cut,” he added. I sunk further into sadness, realizing that he was right. It was a deep cut, and the blood coming out of it would not stop gushing. “I am so sorry, Brian,” I said for the umpteenth time in twenty minutes.“It's okay, I'm proud of you,” he said. My eyes widened in shock. ‘What was he saying?’ I thought.“At least I know you'd do something in

BLAIR’S POV CONTINUES I opened my eyes three hours past midday, to a luxurious food tray served by my bedside.Brian had served a plate of rice, chicken sauce, with some boiled eggs on the side, alongside a pack of yogurt. He had also added a plate of chopped fruits, ranging from apples, berries, cherries, mango and orange slices. I wore a broad smile, as I adjusted a pillow, placing it on my thighs and sitting up right. The plating was beautiful, with the fruits chopped into different shapes and arranged in a heart shape. I wanted to be upset at my parents for giving me up to Brian, but I couldn't be more grateful at this point. Marrying Brian had to be the best contribution they had to my life. Although I didn't think that at first, I couldn't help but think back on the last few weeks and how I finally knew happiness, even in the midst of the chaos. Everytime I thought about Brian, it filled my heart with warmth and my lips with smiles. I chewed through my food, which was ev
