Chapter 91

IRIS'S POV ALONE RESCUER Without wasting another second in the house, I was already in the car, driving towards the address that Gavin had sent to me. I didn't know what I was going to be expecting once I got there but I certainly had a lot of questions for Gavin. At 120 kilometres per hour, I’d reach there sooner. I still couldn’t believe I was doing this, heading out alone at this time of night. Helen was too drunk to come along, and I couldn’t risk bringing her. I was almost there, nearing the address. But the GPS showed I was approaching a forest. A forest? What on earth would Gavin and Jerry be doing in a place like this? I questioned myself as I drove ahead, not caring that danger might be lurking around. The trees loomed closer, their dark silhouettes blending into the night, casting long shadows across the road. The forest seemed to swallow the narrow path ahead, its thick canopy blocking out the moonlight. My headlights cut through the gloom, but even then, visibility

GAVIN'S POVWe saw nothing, nothing happened. Nothing strange happened like the last time we met with the witch. She even went there in the haunted mansion. Was she playing with my intelligence?I couldn't help but be upset even though Jerry on the other hand was glad that we left before anything serious could happen.“Sir, it would do us both good if you walk faster than that. It's getting really late out here." Jerry complained."If you're so acared of everything then why did you agree to come with me in the first place." I retorted, following behind him, checking around for anything that could put my doubts about the witch being at that mansion."Because you are my Boss and it's my duty to protect you, sir." Jerry said."And you know what else tour duty is?" I asked him."What else?""Shutting up your mouth whenever you are not asked to talk." I replied to him rudely."Of course, shutting up now." He said.We kept walking, there was nothing out of the ordinary around here. It was t

IRIS'S POVAUTOPSY REPORTOn the ride back home, to Gavin's mansion. I had dropped Jerry at his house and I and Gavin were left in the car. He wouldn't say anything, and so did I but I had questions. I looked at him on my right as I drove, was he asleep? I tried to check to see if his eyes were closed and it was.I turned back, my attention on the road. Was he sleeping to avoid any questions from me? I thought. If that was what he was doing, then I had every reason to be worried, I had every reason to want to believe what Ciara told me about him. This wasn't the first time he'd go to places as deserted as that forest. What could he be searching for? What was he not telling me?I moved a bit, I glanced at him. “I know you're not asleep, Gavin.” I said to him, He slept in the same position for a minute before he raised his head up.“I wasn't. I was only resting.” He said, his voice husky and calm like nothing had happened, like he didn't have anything to tell me.“Why were you and Jerry

IRIS'S POV EMERGENCY I left Gavin's pack on time to visit the blue moon pack. I couldn't help but be curious about what the physician found in the bodies of the spy. He had said they were poisoned, if he had more informations, What could it be? “Atchoo!” Helen sneezed, her face slightly red. She turned to me because I glanced at her as I drove. “I know what you want to say, so do me a favour and don't say ‘i told you so'. I chuckled, my gaze on the road. “I told you so, Helen. You'd get a hangover after so many drinks last night.” She sniffled, placing the handkerchief on her running nose. “This is more than a hangover, Iris.” She said, sniffling again. I smiled. “Of course it is. That's why I said you should stay back home but insisted on coming with me today.” “I also want to know what the report says.” She managed to say, she blew her nose on the handkerchief. “I could tell you about it.” “It's not going to give a nice effect, I want to hear it myself.” “Fine then. GAVIN'S POV CONFRONTATION! “Daddy I want that too.” Lyra pointed to the bakens in front of me. I picked it up with a fodk and placed it on her plate. She smiled, eating from her plate. I looked at Logan who sat by the left, he was quiet, probably still annoyed that I wasn't with him at night until this morning. “Do you need bakens, Logan?” I asked him. He shook his head while he ate. He was upset even though he didn't want to say it. Only if he knew why I was absent last night. Jerry messaged me, I looked at my screen. “The pack advisors want a meeting with you, sir.” It stated. I sighed tiredly, what else do they want to know? I picked up my phone and texted him back. “Cancel every meeting I'll be having today, including this.” “I wasn't invited for breakfast, how rude of you all.” Ciara complained as she walked down from the stairs, walking towards the dining table. The kids looked at her but I didn't bother turning my back to face her. Her presence had just Increased my ang

IRIS'S POV MOTHER'S DEATH Helen and I rushed to the hospital on time, we got there. The nurses at the reception had stopped us before we could keep rushing to the hallway. I had no idea where my mum was, her hospital room. Fear had made me rush in like that. “We are here for…” before I could complete my sentence, my dad called out to me. “Iris,” “Where's mum?” I questioned him. He managed to say the words but I knew the situation was bad for him to look this worried. The wrinkles on his face appeared more. We went towards the emergency room, my mum had already been confined. There were bruises on her. I could see her from the window. “What happened to my mother?” I asked my father who was standing there with some other pack officials, my voice tinged with frustration, a mix of desperation that I had begun to tear up. “It was an accident, a car accident. No one saw it coming, Iris.” My father explained. My heart broke into multiple pieces. I looked back at my mum as they operat

IRIS'S POVWHO IS TO BE BLAMED?She's dead! My mother is dead. I watched them as they carried her corpse to a morgue.“I'm sorry.” Helen wept, her hands gently holding my shoulders compassionately. I had stopped crying, I didn't know why but sadness was now replaced with so much anger.Did she really die from an accident? I asked myself. I couldn't think of anything but to find out the reason for her death. My father didn't really give me the explanation I was looking for.I turned away from the corpse, facing my father who was discussing something with the pack officials.I walked towards him, my anger rising. “Why weren't you with mum when the accident happened?” I questioned him, he turned to me, his face etched with confusion.“It was her personal outing with her guard, Iris. Why the question?”“Personal outing? I'm sure she asked you to come with her, didn't she?”Everyone was staring, I didn't care what anyone thought at this point. I just want the right answers to my mother's d

GAVIN'S POVTHE WITCH IN PERSON"Listen, guys," I said, my voice firm but gentle. "What happened between Ciara and I. I don’t want you two thinking it has anything to do with you. You’re good kids, and I’m proud of both of you. And also, mummy doesn't have to know about it.”Lyra gave a small nod, but Logan just shrugged, still avoiding my eyes. I knew he was holding onto more than he was letting on, but I didn’t want to push him right now.Lyra's face brightened slightly. "Can we watch the movie with the talking dog?"I chuckled. "Sure, we can watch that one."Logan gave a half-hearted smile. "Yeah, okay."Just while I was having fun with the kids, I tried to push Ciara’s harsh words out of my mind, focusing instead on the small, simple moments with my kids. But in the back of my head, I knew this wasn’t the last time Ciara would come crashing into our lives. And each time, it got harder to hold things together.I checked my phone, I hissed a bit. Iris still hasn't replied to my text

Chapter 99

IRIS'S POVSOMEONE HAS TO BE BLAMEDI went into my mum's bedroom and her presence had exited the space. The peaceful space I always ran to whenever I was scared, it was empty now, noisy without her in it, without her in this pack. How would I move on?I moved closer to her wardrobes, her royal clothes arranged neatly. It wouldn't be a surprise if she had a hand in arranging these clothes herself and not the maids. That was how humble she was and she still is even though she was no more.I only felt sad mixed with a feeling of anger, I was lost right now. What was the next thing to do? How would I achieve that without her presence in my life as a mother figure? Now I believe the saying that goes “people don't value what they have until they lose it.” I had my mother's presence so much in my life, my being a little girl growing into an adult. Sometimes when she called me to check up on me or to tell me to pay her a visit, I would come, sometimes and sometimes I wouldn't.We spent less t

GAVIN'S POVTHE WITCH IN PERSON 2“ALPHA Gavin Russell. What a pleasure to meet you again.” she extended her hands for a handshake, I ignored it, shoving my hands into my pocket.I kept mute, bracing myself to be comforted. “It's no pleasure to see you…” I said plainly, not regretting a word. I stood tall In front of her even though she wore stilettos.“It's Michaela Bates, an omega in the crescent moon pack.” She introduced herself with so much boldness. I walked towards my desk and sat down and she did the same, sitting across from me, her eyes not leaving me.I furrowed my brows, “I've never come in contact with that pack. And it's strange for someone like me.”She scoffed. “More reason I wanted to kill you so badly.” She said daringly. My fists were clenched, ready for any attack, and Jerry, he didn't leave me here for the witch. He stood behind, his claws out, just in case this lady transformed into her witch personality.“Your pride has never left you, not for once.” She judged
