Chapter 51 - What?!

Cassie POV - Goddess! I don’t know what to do. Dave has just left with Jack, excited and eager to meet his mate, and from what he tells us, she is indeed here, and if I understood correctly, which I'm pretty sure I did, well then, I know exactly who his mate is. One of my main tormentors…. Maddie. Thinking back, she did always act entitled, like she knew her and Ace were destined, she was so sure of herself and her position in this life. Like she knew some secret nobody else did. Was this the secret, the vision given to her father of her becoming Luna of a pack thanks to a Beta? But I can't believe she didn't know exactly what she was doing every single time she tormented me. I mean, this chick gave me freaking nightmares, she starved me, beat me, encouraged others to do the same, she body shamed me, by the time escaped Twin Lakes pack, she as much the demon I was running from as Ace was. But now what do I do? I can't very well let Dave run off into the sunset with her without knowi

Chapter 52 - Easy Decisions

Daisy POV - We walked for a while, not talking, just basking in the glow of our bond. The silence and the closeness helped, helped me organise my thoughts and feelings, helped me to realise more clearly that I needed to be honest with him. Helped me understand that so long as we were honest with each other we would be able to work this out. After walking for who knows how long, he stopped us and gestured for me to have a seat on the fallen tree we had come across. Sitting down carefully my nerves flooded back. I didn't speak, I could sense he wanted to talk first and I decided to hear him out before jumping to any more conclusions.“So, um, you're Daisy right? Beta for Twin Lakes Pack, heard they've had it tough lately,” I nod, not wanting to interrupt him and not really sure what I want to say, “I'm Joe, I'm a Delta here, but before you think that's anything special, you should know we have 3 Delta's here, I'll explain that later, I just, well, um, I want you to know, I want you, I

Chapter 53 - Hard decisions.

Dave POV - She is beautiful, incredible. I have never seen anyone who holds themselves with such perfect confidence. Jack and the guard fade away to nothingness as she moves towards me, the dank cell seemingly glowing as she looks into my eyes.I vaguely hear Jack talking to the guard but the words are nonsense, then he claps me on the shoulder and I glance behind me, tearing my eyes away from the vision of my mate, to see him leaving and the guard stepping forward holding out a key to me. I take the key and he leaves behind Jack. The prison falls silent as I turn to face her once more, desperate to hold her and feel the sparks I have heard about, I fumble with the key before finally getting it to fit into the lock. The click of the tumblers echo down the hall as the door swings inwards, and I follow, stepping into the space occupied by my mate. Breathing deeply I inhale her scent and watch her do the same, her eyes close slightly before she closes the gap and takes my hands in hers.

Chapter 54 - Homeward bound

Author POV - Dave had hoped, when Maddie had told him what she had done, that she would show remorse, that she would try to make amends for what she had done, and her words to him were as a balm to a wound. That she wanted to speak with Cassie, that she was hopeful of forgiveness, that she was willing to try to make this work, was all he could have hoped for. Dave felt a moment of panic when she confessed, he had wanted his mate for so long, but he knew he could never be with someone who was at odds with his best friend’s mate. Knowing how Cassie had been treated in Twin Lakes, while Ace had been in control, Dave didn’t know how she would react to having Maddie as a part of their group. But he felt pride that she wanted to try. The fact that Maddie was willing to ask for forgiveness was enough for him to know, she was his, and he was hers. After that realisation hit he almost fell to his knees before her. In fact, after a slight hesitation, he did just that, he kneeled before his mat

Chapter 55 - Twin Lakes

Author POV - With all of the excitement of Dave finding his mate, he and Jack did not get a chance to discuss the prisoners. But Jack was well aware of the fact that Ace was sitting in a cell within Twin Lakes pack. With what he knew now of Maddie and her role in the torture of his mate, he was more eager than ever to get the situation handled and finalised before the birth of his pups. He just wasn’t sure how to go about it. He knew Dave was going to be distracted as he spent time with Maddie, which he was also worried about. He needed to talk to Dave and tell him what he had learned from Cassie before the bond was too strong, he didn’t want Dave to have to reject his mate, but he also wanted him to have that option, and the longer they had to form the bond, the harder the rejection would be. Dave would survive a rejection, he wasn’t weak like Cassie had been when she had rejected Ace, but that didn’t save him from a pain that Jack just didn’t want anyone he knew to suffer. After sp

Chapter 56 - The talk

Dave POV - Jack coming here, tonight of all nights, had to mean whatever he had to say was important. I knew enough about Jack to know he would never ever interrupt me with my mate for anything less. So with a heavy heart, I walked away from my mate and down to my office. I think I have a pretty good idea about why he is here, I know he and Cassie, that I knew he would have told who my mate was, and she would have told him about their shared past, I knew that his coming here was him wanting to warn me, I know what he will tell me, thankfully Maddie already told me everything, she didn’t go into details about what she had done, but I knew enough to understand that me being mated to her would cause Cassie some concerns. So for now, my plan was to be honest with Jack and hope that he understands. I don’t know what I will do if Cassie refuses to hear Maddie out, I don’t know how I would feel if my mate and my best friends mate were at odds, the very idea of it turns my stomach. We had ta

Chapter 57 - Plans.

Jack POV - “Yeah, I meant to talk to you about that earlier today but with everything that happened…” Dave looks sheepish for a moment, then blissful as his thoughts return to his mate.Waving my hand at him to dismiss his discomfort I push forward.“So, what’s happening? What you got going on here?” I ask.“Well, it was Daisy’s idea, but I do admit, I love it, we are building a new pack house, but we are relocating to nearer the lake, nicer views, further from the main access point, sheltered by the mountains in the winter…”“Brilliant,| I say honestly, if I wasn’t happy with our pack house I would do the same, being close to each other can only strengthen our packs bonds. “Do you need anything? Materials, hands?”“Well actually, I was thinking, could you send the rest of the rogues over? They are all victims and I think having them all together will be good for them. The routines here are still new so the adjustment will be for everyone not just the ‘newbies’ and the extra hands wi

Chapter 58 - 4 days later.

Author POV - Daisy and Joe had taken their time on their journey back from Forest Haven. They had spent their days driving and stopping at particularly eye-catching areas, choosing to ramble across the landscape and exploring the wilds. Joe seemed to struggle with being trapped in Daisy’s car, which was a little small for him, his legs bent upwards when he was sat in the passenger seat. And the fact that he was a passenger was not something he was comfortable with, he felt that as the male, it was his job to drive/escort his mate, but there was no hope of him being able to sit behind the wheel in her car, the front seat would not go back enough for him to fold his legs in and be able to manage the pedals. So they had taken plenty of breaks allowing him to stretch. Daisy had not really spoken to her brother, they had sent each other a few text messages but the one call they had was brief. Daisy was a bit worried about him, it wasn’t like Dave to cut a call with her short after not see

Chapter 59 - MATES

Dave POV -As soon as I received Daisy’s text about her being close I sent a reply telling her to come straight to the office. It had been tough the last couple of days, trying to manage my time between my Alpha duties and spending time with Maddie. Maddie had been hesitant to leave my room once we had her situated, I think she is worried about how the pack will react to her being their Luna. So we kept to ourselves and Maddie hid in what are now our rooms while I managed the pack. After all she had told me about how she had behaved when she was here before, I knew that the pack and even the rogues would struggle to accept her, so I am hoping that by getting Daisy on our side she can help with the transition. Maddie and I know it will take time for the pack to accept her. I think that is why she wants to wait for us to complete our bond. She wants to prove herself to them. But she is also terrified of their reaction, hence the hiding out. Now that Daisy is home we can begin to build t

Chapter 60 - Routine

Daisy POV - After getting over the shock of finding that both of us had found our mates within hours of one another, Dave and I slipped into a new routine, one that allowed us both plenty of time with our mates as well as giving us time together to go over pack business. Joe fit right in. Once I had spoken to Dave about Joe wanting to try out for the Delta position, which Dave thought was a great idea, and he really seemed to appreciate that Joe actually wanted to try out rather than just be given the role, Dave sat with Joe and went over what would be expected of him should he pass the training. Joe already knew how to answer every question Dave could think of, having been Delta at Forest Haven, so Dave had then called Jack and asked him to send Brian and Mark over to put Joe through the paces. Dave insisted that this was more of a formality as he was confident Joe would be fine. Brian and Joe were due to arrive tomorrow and their ‘training’ would culminate in a sparring match that
