Chapter Sixty-One: Dylan's POV

The room was silent. Emily’s cries shook me to the bones. Reynolds. That bastard Reynolds had her. I was agitated and angered by the situation we had to go through. While wondering about how Emily was going to react to the entire issue, I was pushed to make a better situation out of it all before it got worse. “No, he can't even try this,” I whispered to myself before leaving my destination. I tried to reach back to the number a couple of times, but each time I did that, I was scratched and suffocated by my own thoughts. I couldn't imagine the worst that could happen. In all, it reminded me of my mother. My story was more similar. She was selfless and she could not watch anything bad happen to us. She would do anything at her own peril to keep us safe. Hearing Emily weep helplessly over her children made my heart throb with fear that was masked with worry. I was sitting on the edge of my bed, my head in my hands, lost in the darkness of my thoughts. Emily was gone, and it f

Chapter Sixty-Two: Emma's POV

I pulled into the driveway, my mind a whirlwind of thoughts and plans. The video Reynolds had shown me replayed in my mind on a loop. My daughter’s innocent face, oblivious to the danger she was in. I had to find a way to get her out of Reynolds' control, but the hows and whys tangled together in a mess of fear and desperation. As I stepped out of the car, the cool night air did little to clear my head. I took a deep breath and walked toward the house, every step heavy with the weight of the secrets I carried. The house was dark, and I hoped everyone was asleep. I needed time to think, to plan my next move without prying eyes. “Emma.” I froze, my hand still on the doorknob. Dylan stood in the hallway, his silhouette dark against the dim light. His eyes were hard, questioning. “What are you doing here?” he asked, stepping closer. “Dylan, I… I didn’t think anyone was home,” I stammered, avoiding his gaze. My fingers twisted the strap of my bag nervously. “That’s not what I ask

Chapter Sixty-Three: Emily's POV

My heart was thudding slowly and the pearls of sweat ran quickly from my face. “Dylan, why are you staying quiet? These are my children you are talking about and I need to know how they are doing,” my patience slowly grew to anger. Dylan held my palms, and adjusted himself to be more comfortable. “It's not bad, but I don't want you to worry,” he uttered, patting my hands slowly. “Are they safe?” I asked coldly. “Yes! They are safe. Reynolds got a nanny to take care of them,” he uttered. “Oh, my children,” I uttered, openly staring at the open space right in front of me. “I don't want to be worried. You promised me you were going to do all the investigations possible to find them,” I added, staring into Dylan's eyes. I saw that he was concerned and that alone gave me comfort. I grinned, controlling how afraid I was that something was going to happen. I didn't want to say horrible things about myself. I didn't want to feel worse again. “I know you are worried,” Dylan stated, sm

Chapter Sixty-Four: Dylan's POV

I tossed and turned all night, Emma's words swirling in my mind like a storm. The room felt colder than usual, and the moonlight seemed harsher, casting long shadows that danced on the walls. I couldn't shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong. When dawn finally broke, I was up, feeling more restless than ever. I saw Emma leaving the pack house, her posture tense, her steps hurried. My instinct was to follow her, to find out where she was going and why. But just as I was about to head out, my phone rang."Hello?" I answered, irritation lacing my voice.“I’m sorry, I know its not a good time for you, but, Dylan, it's urgent." The voice on the other end said, breathless with urgency. I recognised it as Liam, my personal Assistant said.“What’s the problem?” I asked and sighed."Emma's daughter is being held hostage in London." He dropped and I froze in y tracks. My heart skipped a beat. "What? How do you know this? Did you still keep an eye on her?” I asked and he sighed.“I

Chapter Sixty-Five: Dylan's POV

I was tense and feeling jittery, all my nerves were wound tight and I knew I would snap at the next thing to go wrong. Emma hasn't returned yet from handing over the chip to Reynolds and I wondered what could have gone wrong. Daniel was on the other side of the room pacing anxiously. The silence in the room was so thick, I could almost taste it. “Have you checked the tracker yet?” Daniel's question brought me out of my reverie. “I've done that a million times in the past minute. It's not activated yet” I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. “It's either Emma has a hint about our plan or she's not just interested in being curious about what the chip entails” I told him. Daniel looked away from me and walked towards the window, “Do you think we should have followed her?”I also had that thought but brushed it off. We had to trust that the initial plan would work without any hassle. It was simple: Get Reynolds the chip and monitor him from there henceforth. Plans to rescue Emma's

Chapter Sixty-Six: Dylan's POV

“We need to move fast.” I started. It's been days since Emily's kidnap, my wolf was going into withdrawals in the absence of his mate. “Emma should know something. Where is she?” Daniel asked. Just as if she was summoned, Emma walked into the room, her steps tense and her shoulders looking strung tight. She walked briskly to the table and sat down at the edge of the couch. “I know where Emily is. I'm sorry I haven't said anything about it, believe me. I was responsible for her kidnap and….” She didn't get to complete her statement before I jumped on my feet and barked at her, “What?!”“What do you mean by, you are responsible for her kidnap” I narrowed my eyes at her and watched in satisfaction as she recoiled from my intense stare. The aura I was emitting at that moment was deadly and she obviously knew that one wrong word would make me snap, badly. Daniel got up and came over to me, “Calm down, brother. You're scaring her, the girl looks terrified”I let out a loud huff of brea

Chapter Sixty-Seven: Emily's POV

Emma hasn't returned since the last time she was here. I didn't know if she ran away or she was pretending to the twins. How could she betray us like this? What was her intention? I wondered briefly if Dylan was actively searching for me, what was Daniel doing? How did they take the news of my disappearance? My thoughts strayed to my kids and I felt the overwhelming urge to cry. I failed them as a mother, I didn't know if they were alright, if they were being fed well and properly taken care of. Reynolds had released me from the ropes and chains but refused to disclose any sort of information about them to me. I wasn't sure they were in this building where I was being held hostage because I'd never for once heard the cry or sounds of children. My mind flashed back to all our happy memories together. It wasn't easy but we we're happy. Helen and Victor, the kids and I. What went wrong, why are we paying for the sins we didn't commit. I didn't know when tears started dropping down m

Chapter Sixty-Eight: Emily's POV

"Daniel is here as well?" I asked in surprise, struggling to keep up with Dylan's pace. "And the rest, who are they?" "Yes, he is and we have help from a few men," Dylan replied curtly, gripping my arm tightly as we pressed forward. "We need to keep moving. Stick close to me.” I wanted to ask more questions, to find out what the plan was exactly, but the urgency in Dylan's voice made me hesitate. Instead, I shifted my focus to the most pressing concern on my mind. "Keith and Kira?" I asked, my voice filled with worry. "Where are they? Have you seen them? Are they safe?" However, Dylan didn't answer. He simply shook his head and urged me to keep moving. "Emily, come on. We really don't have time for questions right now," he said, his eyes scanning around nervously. "We need to get out of here. Just stick with me and do as I say.” He quickened his pace, pulling me along with him. I tripped, my feet struggling to keep up. Anxiety was rising up inside me, making my heart race and my

Chapter Sixty-Nine: Daniel's POV

"Stay here with the kids," I instructed Emma as I gently handed over Keith and Kira to her. "I need to go help Dylan find Emily.” Emma's eyes grew wide and her face turned pale. “What? No, Daniel. What if… what if we are attacked?" she stammered. "I don't know how to defend myself. You know that.” I placed my hands firmly on her shoulders, trying to calm her trembling body. "Emma, listen to me," I said, speaking in a low, steady tone. "No one is going to find you here. This is a safe place, I assure you. You just need to keep the kids quiet and stay hidden." She still looked skeptical, her eyes shifting to the children, who were watching us with wide, curious eyes. "But what if…" "Emma, please," I cut in, maintaining eye contact. "You can do this. I need you to be strong, for the kids. Please.” The children must have picked up on the tension in the air. They looked up at us with wide, scared eyes. Kira reached out her small hand, pulling on Emma's sleeve. "Are we in trouble, Aunti

Chapter Seventy: Daniel's POV

After James disappeared from my view, I took a deep breath and quickly ran in the direction he had given me, my mind racing with a million thoughts. When I finally reached the old storage room, the sight of the massive, ominous device sent a shiver down my spine. It was not just any simple explosive – it was a complex, high-yield bomb that would destroy everything in its path. I had to disarm it, and I had to do it quickly. Steeling my nerves, I knelt down next to the device and carefully began to scan the complex wiring and components. Although James had given me a crash course on bomb deactivation, the reality of it was far more challenging than any training exercise. James' words echoed in my mind: "You'll need to be quick and precise. If you take out the wrong wire, it could go off.” "Alright. You can do this, Daniel," I murmured to myself. "For Emily, for the kids and for Dylan. They are all counting on you.” Slowly and carefully, I began to work, my fingers skillfully tr
