Chapter 321: Five Santonio Brothers

Eden’s POVI was right, we were on another tropical island. One by one, my friends woke up. They were all given the special potion and I had to admit, it helped immensely.Storm was the worst off. He had a pretty awful gash right through the centre of his stomach. A shard of glass had sliced right through him. Thankfully, though, he had a strong wolf and his wolf had saved him.None of the brothers had recognized Lucia. Imagine their surprise when I told them she was their sister! They all looked similar, with the same dusty blonde hair and bright blue eyes. It was amazing, really how similar they looked. So much so that I kept mixing them up. Lucia was the opposite, with dark hair and dark eyes. But their features were the same. When they stood by side, it was easy to see they were all siblings. They’d left when Lucia was really little, and they’d obviously had no contact with their family ever since. They’d been looking for her, though, Lucia. They didn’t know where the Santonio est

Chapter 322: Silvermist Pack Revisited

Eden’s POVMy heart cracked down the centre. It was one week later, and we were standing in the centre of what had been the Silvermist Pack house.Adrian had tried to tell me gently that our pack had been attacked. He’d been mindlinking members of our pack. They were at Zane’s palace.I’d been in denial. I’d refused to believe him. What did he mean ‘there was no more Silvermist Pack?’So they’d been attacked. They’d fought back, right? We had strong warriors, some of the strongest around. They might have taken a few casualties. But surely Adrian was exaggerating. He was making it sound like the entire pack boundary had just been obliterated.“No,” I’d told him. “You’re all mixed up. It isn’t true.”He’d tried again to tell me but I’d silenced him. Everyone else had watched on in awkward silence. Astrid stepped forward and tried to take my hand. I shook her off.THIS is what we’d been fighting for, all this time. We’d persevered on the island, and undergone unimaginable terrors, JUST s

Chapter 323: Back at the Palace

Eden’s POVThe palace was at capacity. Or at least, it sure felt like it. We walked through the rose gardens, once quiet and peaceful, and gawked at all the make-shift living quarters.“Are these all refugees?” I whispered to Astrid as we passed.People stopped dead in their tracks as we passed. They stood and bowed their heads as we passed.I recognized some of the insignia on some clothing. Others, I didn’t recognize at all. There were mothers, fathers, the elderly, and children, all sprawled out in the garden. Some had hard eyes, some had sad smiles, and some had completely vacant expressions.“I believe so,” Astrid said. “It looks like these people come from a lot of different packs.”I glanced at the insignia of a thorn resting on a petal. “Thistlethorn,” I said out loud. “But why would Thistlethorn pack be here? They’re a peaceful pack.”Astrid shook her head.“I don’t think Alpha Sylar cares.” Astrid’s voice was low. She was upset by this sight, as was I. We knew that Alpha Syk

Chapter 324: Chloe Returns

Eden’s POVWas she for real? She couldn’t be. There was NO way she was standing here, hugging me, pretending to be worried about me. She was pregnant with my mate’s child!Look at her belly.Zane’s baby was growing inside her! She was flaunting her pregnant belly right in front of me. Had she no class? She was supposed to be better than this. She’d been raised in an elite pack, catered to like a princess. But now? She was holding her belly, rubbing it proudly. It was garish and uncouth.“I’ve missed you,” she said, still rubbing her belly. “Look, we’re twinsies.” She bumped her pregnant belly into mine and giggled.I was speechless! What was she thinking? Chloe had come to MY mating ceremony, uninvited, and declared her pregnancy in front of MY guests! She’d made a complete fool out of me. She’d caused me so much heartbreak, so much pain. And even before that she’d been a problem. When I was living at the palace before I found Silvermist Pack, Chloe had lied about Zane want

Chapter 325: Forgiveness

Eden’s POVExile?Chloe’s eyes grew wide at the mention of this word.I hadn’t thought of that. But Astrid was right. I COULD act on Zane’s behalf. Technically, I hadn’t been crowned queen yet, but I was his mate. That gave me some sort of authority, didn’t it?And I knew that whatever I did, Storm and Astrid would back me up.But exile?“You can’t exile me,” Chloe said, but her tone made it sound like she wasn’t so sure. “I’m pregnant with his child.”“She can so,” Astrid said.“On what grounds?” Chloe asked, her eyes flitting from face to face. She was trying to act confident, but I noticed she was wringing her hands.“Treason,” Astrid declared.“What?” Chloe scoffed. “I committed no such thing.”“You betrayed the queen,” Astrid said.“I did not,” Chloe snapped.“You did too,” Astrid quipped. They continued to argue like that, back and forth. I watched, confused and pensive. Chloe’s voice was high and tight. She put on a good front, but deep down, I could tell that she was terrified

Chapter 326: A Talk at the Lake

Eden’s POV“Eden?” Astrid rushed towards me. “What is it, Eden? What’s wrong?”I clutched at my stomach. Everyone looked at me with concern. The blue light flashed again against my eyes. I squinted. The heat in my stomach intensified. I clenched my teeth.“Please, Eden, tell me.” Astrid looked frantic. “Is it the baby? Is it…is it coming?”I shook my head. No. These weren’t labour pains. I’d never been in labour before but my instincts told me this was something else entirely. I focused on my breathing. In through my nose, out through my mouth.Almost as quickly as it had started, it faded. The heat dissipated. The blue flashing light stopped.Everything was fine again.Except that it wasn’t.“Astrid,” I said, taking her hand. “Can we go some place quiet?”She looked into my eyes and nodded. She knew me well. She knew that whatever was happening, I didn’t want anyone else to know.I caught Chloe’s eyes just then. They were flooded with gratitude. In that moment, she looked like she ha

Chapter 327: Confessions By the Water

Eden’s POVAstrid let go of my hand. I’m sure she didn’t mean to, she was just shocked.I let the words sink in.It sounded horrific, I know.Witch’s blood. It wasn’t exactly something you wanted in a werewolf baby. Plus, it could be dangerous. The baby could….No.I didn’t even want to think those thoughts, let alone say them out loud.“What makes you think that?” Astrid finally asked after a long pause.“It’s just a…a feeling,” I told her.“A feeling?”I knew it sounded stupid. A werewolf baby with witch’s blood was a serious thing. Having a ‘feeling’ about it sounded silly.“I can’t explain it,” I confessed, shrugging. “I just…it’s like an instinct.”“Have you always felt like this? Through the whole pregnancy?”I shook my head. “No. Not at all.”“When did it start?” Astrid asked.“On the island. The night of the gala,” I told her.“Maybe it has something to do with the potion Demetrius gave Zara?” Astrid suggested.“Maybe.” I nodded. “But I really don’t think so, Astrid. I think…I

Chapter 328: Witch Blood Babies

Eden’s POVAstrid was right, Beta Brighton had been angry at first.“WHAT?” he’d snapped at Astrid, his eyes wide. “You TOLD her? Astrid, you promised you’d NEVER tell.”Astrid and I had gone straight from the lake to find Beta Brighton. I didn’t know what was wrong with my baby but I didn’t want to take any chances. I wasn’t even sure it WAS witch blood, but everything seemed to be pointing that way. So…if Beta Brighton knew anything about witch blood in babies, well…I had to find out everything I could.Beta Brighton had been with the others in the dining hall. They all looked so relaxed and happy, for a moment, I’d thought twice about disturbing them. We’d all been through so much, and we still had a lot to go through. But time was of the essence.Beta Brighton had followed us into Zane’s private study. That’s where we were now.“Calm down,” Astrid warned him. “You’ll understand once we explain.”He looked from me to Astrid. “You better have a REALLY good explanation,” he said, poi

Chapter 329: Her Witch is Strong

Eden’s POVI clasped my hand over my mouth.What?No.I began to shake. The room became blurry. I had to get out of there. I was dizzy and my heart was racing.“Eden,” Astrid reached for me.“I could be wrong,” Beta Brighton’s voice trailed off.He wasn’t wrong. He was right. He knew all about witches. About tainted blood. About babies in the womb. This is what had happened to his sister. Her witch had risen in the womb. It had defeated the werewolf. It had won.I didn’t need any proof. I didn’t need my grandfather to confirm this. I already knew. Deep down, I knew the baby had witch blood. I knew that I had witch blood. This had happened to me, too. My war between wolf and witch had happened in the womb. My wolf had won, just like Beta Brighton’s. But I’d been born a wolf. True, it had taken a long time for Zara to awaken. But there had never been any trace of witch in me.Because my witch died while I was still in the womb.I lurched for the door. My knees were shaky.“Eden, stop. M

Chapter 330: Inside the Maze

Eden’s POVI knew I was getting desperately lost inside the maze, but I didn’t care. I just kept running. My lungs burned from the exertion. Somewhere, Astrid was also in the maze, trying to find me. She’d get lost too. But again, I didn’t care.My face was wet with tears. I couldn’t reconcile the fact that my baby had witch blood. And I certainly couldn’t accept the fact that I’d given it to her.I was going to lose everything. My beloved Silvermist pack. My friends. And worst of all, my mate and love, Zane.If my baby was born a witch, which I was pretty sure she would be, I couldn’t stay here in werewolf society. Giving my baby away wasn’t an option. My breaths were coming in jagged gasps. If I didn’t slow down, I’d pass out.I veered left. The green walls were tall all around me. The maze was huge. So huge, that people could get lost in it for hours. That’s exactly what I planned to do. I wanted to be lost. I wanted to be alone. I didn’t want to face anyone. Not now. Not until the
