Tina's POV The door clicked shut behind me, and I let out a long breath of relief as the weight of embarrassment finally began to lift. My cheeks still burned faintly, but I forced myself to turn toward Ajax with a stern look. He, however, was already bounding toward the bathroom, a mischievous glint in his eyes as if he could simply escape the moment with a shower. “Come here,” I called out, but he shook his head quickly, his tiny legs carrying him faster. He was still fully clothed, not even close to being ready for a bath, when I caught him mid-stride. “Ahhhhh!” His shriek rang out as his little feet kicked in the air, his body suspended while I carried him back toward the sofa. “No, Ajax. Let’s have a serious conversation.” I set him down, my voice firm but not unkind. He only looked back at me with that smug little smile of his, the one that made it impossible to stay angry for long. “I wanted to get you a husband,” he pouted, lower lip trembling in exaggerated sorrow.
